Description
Situated in the lowlands east of the Bellenden Ker Range. A short gravel & grass walking track takes you through rainforest & to the top of a grassy hill. Bartle Frere & Bellenden Ker, Queensland’s two highest peaks, are in view as well as the swamp & its many waterbirds.
Potentially dangerous estuarine crocodiles inhabit the Alice River & swamps within Eubenangee Swamp National Park. Stay well away from the water’s edge.
Eubenangee Swamp is of international significance as it is reputed to be the last remaining association of specific ecological communities (vine forest, grassland, sedge & paperbark swamp forest) occurring on nutrient - rich basaltic alluvium.
To get to Eubenangee Swamp drive south from Cairns on the Bruce Highway to Mirriwinni (67km) & turn left into Bramston Beach Road. After 1km turn right into Cartwright Road & continue for a further 8km to the park entrance.

Logs
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 52. Atherton to Cairns (again) Day 3. Today was a day away from Cairns day. I drove down to Innisfail first thing in the morning and started caching my way back towards Cairns. I went to a swamp and a devils pool along the way. In fact Babinda Boulders National park is a highlight of this section of the Bruce Highway. I ended with a few easy roadside caches in VERY difficult spots to stop. Then back to camp for a late lunch before psyching myself up towards tomorrows hill climb.
After doing the multi, I stopped here for a look, but the mozzies were on to me now, and after a few laps of the likely location I gave it away
Thanks
Albida

Exploring the area today we found this cache and the nearby GC multi. Thanks Stinky.Cheese.
WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! FTF for us and only a couple of years since it was published .
While sitting in Mossman yesterday and checking out maps (and caches) before heading south....originally to Mission Beach....we saw this little hidden treasure and decided that Innisfail was a much better place to stop
Surely after so long it would be gone...or buried...
After setting up the van we immediately headed out to Ebenangee Nat Park...truthfully we were a bit sceptical thinking our chances of finding this one were very slim but no....spot on co-ords and the cache was in hand almost immediately
We have spent a fair bit of time over the last three or more months caching in the wet tropics and we learnt very quickly how hard it is to find a dry cache
Like many found before this one too was full of water....we are constantly amazed at how much water the ziplock bags let in A beautiful empty but very very soggy log . We tipped about 50mils of water from the ziplock bag and decided that a new sheet was in order. We put a small sheet into two ziplocks, dried the official laminated 'you've found a geocache' card and returned them to the container.
We were delighted that the lovely rainforest walk is high on a bank away from the very muddy 'croc territory' looking river and continued up towards the grassy hill. We found a lovely well mown pathway through the long grass to the top and great views of the lily covered lagoon.
We met a couple of guys on the way back who visit regularly just to spot the crocs....they told us that sometimes they see as many as three or four basking in the sun on the low banks We didn't see any today ourselves but they had just seen one a little further back on the banks
Come on cachers don't let this little baby languish so long before someone else signs the log...it's a very nice walk and an easy find
Many thanks Stinky.Cheese for showing us this area
