Description

The preferred access is via the parking area, about 800m from the Wilmot Bridge. ( S41° 16.566  E146° 13.341 )

The track is about 20m south of the car park, western side of the road. Look for the tyres !

From here you descend down the zigzags to the river and follow south to Shoestring Crossing...as per notes by...   http://billshep1.wordpress.com/

During the winter months(high river levels) access can be had by parking in the first parking bay on your right on Jamiesons road, just before the first house.

The road is a Crown Lands Road Reserve, so access along this route is ok by foot, again see notes in above link.

Please follow all signs and keep to the designated road reserve(marked) through the last private property, and DO NOT wander around or trespass elsewhere and keep all gates as found.

The cache is a small pill container with bison tube and log roll inside. Please byo ink stick.

Enjoy!

A few failures today and a few wins. The good hint made this one a win. Nice outlook over the river.

Tackled the Dooley track today with TrimbleTAS. Very Much enjoyed this walk. We did this in two stages, starting at Spellmans bridge and walking as far as we could without crossing the river then turned back to the vehicle.
We then drove down to the end on River Rd off Swamp rd after reading that we could right down to the river level to continue the track from there to the north.
we did also attempt to cross the River at Payne Crossing but we got out in the middle of the river and ran out of concrete pads to step on so turned back.

This cache was found down the bank from its hiding place after searching hint place , it appeared something may have tried to move the cache as it was in the open 5m below where it should have been. TFTC

Tackled the Dooley track today with DEZ055. What an amazing walk. We did this in two stages, starting at Spellmans bridge and walking as far as we could before turning back to the vehicle and driving to the end on River Rd off Swamp rd to continue the track from there to the north.

Found after a bit of searching as it appeared tha the cache had become dislodged from it's hiding hole.TFTC Clan Cerberus

A return visit after not quite finishing this area back in Jan, not a chance a our group of 5 could leave this series unfinished.
This part of the trail was well above the floodline so the cache was still in it's spot so after a quick find and a few photos we were on our way.

After the last few missing it was nice to find one still in place. Paul made a quick find here. Great views from this high part of the track.

After missing out on these last few when we were all up this way in January today was the return trip so we could clean them up.

Walking back North and views of the river are just getting better and better as we go, a little bit of up and down in the trail but nothing to slow us down, Paul made a quick find on this one.

The quickest and easiest find of the day. Lots of cobwebs on the container, but then it has been a long time since the last find. Thanks.

Found on our caravan and caching holiday to the North West Coast finding caches that had been published since our last visit and this one of them.

Today we targeted this and 4 other caches on the trail. The weather was kind to us and we enjoyed meandering beside the Wilmot River. We parked on Jamiesons Rd and started our journey from there. The caches were all found quickly and we enjoyed several breaks at the shelters along the way and a picnic lunch topped the day off nicely. A return journey of 4.5 hours back to the car. Thanks sirius for a great days caching and for the cache.

We had been aware that Sirius Tas was planning some more caches along Dooley's Trail but were very surprised last night to see them published so soon. After finding "Dooleys Heritage Trail - Wilmot Vista" we continued south. It wasn't very long before we saw a familiar face coming the other way - etrexer (aka cat miner). After leaving his car at the suggested Wilmot Road parking spot, he had walked along Lucy's Track. As none of the normal crossings were above water, he told us that he had to take his boots off and wade across a shallow section. The water was freezing and it made us very glad that we had chosen to start our walk from Jamiesons Road. After talking for a few minutes, we headed south and he headed north. 20 minutes after leaving "Wilmot Vista" we arrived at this cache. Again accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. We are not sure who is responsible for placing the short pieces of verse along the track, but they certainly make you reflect on the beauty of the area. Thanks Sirius Tas for another very well located cache in a magnificent area. Congratulations etrexer on your FTF.

Hi Sirius, Had a great walk today, Started off from wilmot road and walked around the lucy track to start the hunt from east ellis, Stripped off my boots to do the crossing, Feet nearly froze, Had nearly finished my mission today looked up and here comes the 2ys heading in from the other way. Had a chinwag for awhile before heading off again. At one cache I got the log out to sign and found a leech hanging off me, Got him off rolled the log back up and I think I forgot to sign it . This thought hit me as I was crossing the river at shoestring crossing at the end of my mission with a gutted feeling I wasn't turning back to check. Thanks Sirius love these tracks
