Description

The preferred access is via the parking area, about 800m from the Wilmot Bridge. ( S41° 16.566  E146° 13.341 )

The track is about 20m south of the car park, western side of the road. Look for the tyres !

From here you descend down the zigzags to the river and follow south to Shoestring Crossing...as per notes by...   http://billshep1.wordpress.com/

During the winter months(high river levels) access can be had by parking in the first parking bay on your right on Jamiesons road, just before the first house.

The road is a Crown Lands Road Reserve, so access along this route is ok by foot, again see notes in above link.

Please follow all signs and keep to the designated road reserve(marked) through the last private property, and DO NOT wander around or trespass elsewhere and keep all gates as found.

Access can also be gained  by the East Ellis crossing during lower river levels..as per........http://billshep1.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/ellis-osbertmap.jpg

Cache is a small container with bison tube and log roll, pencil with small swaps.

Enjoy!

Went for a pleasant loop walk along the Lucys Track up to Ellis Flats, before crossing the river and coming back on the Dooleys track. Clue was a big help in locating this one. Cache is in excellent condition no doubt due to the sensible use of the double container method. A good cache series this with plenty of caches to seek out on future trips.

A return visit after not quite finishing this area back in Jan, not a chance a our group of 5 could leave this series unfinished.
A good expanded search in this location just incase all the tree cover was affecting GPS accuracy but in the end replaced.

Well we found the blackwood tree but searched for others after finding no cache. We eventually decided it was likely this had been another flood victim and replaced it. Whilst disappointed we were not finding all that many, we were pleased we were able to replace them to keep this trail complete. TFTC

After missing out on these last few when we were all up this way in January today was the return trip so we could clean them up.

we searched for a bit before replacing the cache in the hint location.

Replaced at 13:47

A quick find as we make our way back to the car after walking Lucy's Track and returning via Dooley's Track. Thanks, a great day's caching in a great area.

Found on our caravan and caching holiday to the North West Coast finding caches that had been published since our last visit and this one of them.

Today we targeted this and 4 other caches on the trail. The weather was kind to us and we enjoyed meandering beside the Wilmot River. We parked on Jamiesons Rd and started our journey from there. The caches were all found quickly and we enjoyed several breaks at the shelters along the way and a picnic lunch topped the day off nicely. A return journey of 4.5 hours back to the car. Thanks sirius for a great days caching and for the cache.

We had been aware that Sirius Tas was planning some more caches along Dooley's Trail but were very surprised last night to see them published so soon. So we headed off this morning to revisit one of our favourite spots. So far on our walk today we had found "Wilmot Vista", "Raindrops", "Payne Shelter" and "Wilmot Elbow". We arrived at this location exactly two hours after leaving our car. Speedsters would get there much faster but we are leisurely strollers who get sidetracked by views, plants and animals. One aspect we really enjoyed on the walk today was the variety of fungi found - the range of sizes, colours and forms had to be seen to appreciate fully. Mrs y'stassie took many photos as it had inspired her on to another embroidery journey. Again, accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. After spending a little time to have lunch and to enjoy the area, we headed back the way we had come in. After five minutes over four hours, we arrived back at our car - a little foot sore (we haven't been walking for a while) but elated that we had spent quality time in a wonderful part of Tassie. We couldn't help contrast Dooleys Trail (and others in the area) with the power trails in South Australia. They each have their place in caching but today's experience was one of high quality geocaching (really good caches in a wonderful environment) compared to rapid finds in an environment where you get little opportunity to enjoy the surroundings. Thanks Sirius Tas for your five new additions to the caches on the western side of the Wilmot River. We are really looking forward to the next ones to be published. Congratulations etrexer on your FTF for this cache.

Well done on your FTF Etrexer....bet that water was REAL COLD... Very Happy
I'm positive you found all caches...so please log them as found even if you forgot to sign the log. Along with Spreyton22's caches(15 in total)..now makes for a great loop walk....as you did. Cheers mate.

Hi Sirius, Had a great walk today, Started off from wilmot road and walked around the lucy track to start the hunt from east ellis, Stripped off my boots to do the crossing, Feet nearly froze, Had nearly finished my mission today looked up and here comes the 2ys heading in from the other way. Had a chinwag for awhile before heading off again. At one cache I got the log out to sign and found a leech hanging off me, Got him off rolled the log back up and I think I forgot to sign it . This thought hit me as I was crossing the river at shoestring crossing at the end of my mission with a gutted feeling I wasn't turning back to check. Thanks Sirius love these tracks
