Description
Original North Bourke Bridge is a great place to photograph the Darling River
The Bridge is an iconic landmark to the town and district of Bourke. Bourke was once the largest wool shipping port in eastern Australia, and most of it was moved by paddle steamer.
The bridge is a steel lift bridge with a timber decking bolted to the frame. I has seen tens of thousands of sheep and cattle cross it as drovers delivered stock to the Bourke rail head from the western runs.
Parking at both ends of bridge, child freindly under supervision, available 24 hrs.

Nice to return today and find this cache.
An impressive bridge, shame it has deteriorated so much since our last visit.
Many thanks youngoldfella for replacing this cache.

When I was in Bourke last year, I didn't even realise that there was a cache here, as its symbol is hidden on the map. I saw this time and today TG47 and I found it while returning to our camp after shopping in town. Thanks especially to YOF for the replacement. SL

This Bridge has been closed for awhile now. I have placed a temporary container at the end of the Bridge under the first large block of concrete on your right.
S30.03.334 E145 57.025. It is a micro sized container. If the CO does not wish to accept this found log and replacement I will publish it as another hide so that other Geocaching Australia members can have something to remember of this bridge when they come to Bourke.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1471. Found during Day 18 of my epic 21 day visit to Alice Springs for the Red Centre Experience Event and further travels after that.
Flew into Alice Springs and met up with my fellow intrepid team members Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n for the start of an amazing trip throughout the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and eventually back to Canberra. The Red Centre Experience is the main attraction of course, but also on our agenda are a lot of GC Caches, lots of trigs, as well as plenty of GCA Trads, History and Virtual Caches (and maybe the odd beer or two ??!! Smile. Go Clan Cerberus !
Another Trad for the trip while heading south and east. We stopped here to look around and grab some caches. Lots of piccies taken. It was out of reach of all so we replaced it. Then it was back in the car and off to the next one !
Another great location visited during our journey !

#GA1605 - 14:25; Day 29 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune, albida33 and fitzy_1965. Today we are headed from Charlieville to Nyngan via Bourke and a few small towns in between. The caching was light north of the border today, but was now becoming a bit more productive to the south. Passing through Bourke, we stopped off at the old bridge for this cache and an engineering marker. Spotted an old mint tin, but it was way out of reach, so it was replaced in a safer spot after the log was duly signed. TFTC backinthebush

First off, a warning. You can NO longer access the area from the north...it is closed off. You will need to drive over the new bridge and head back along the road/car park....
As for the cache, we could see an old mint tin at the bottom of one of the weight pillars, but there was no way we could retrieve it, so we placed another mint tin in its place.
Log was signed and all was good. Great to see these GCA caches out this way....
Thanks BackintheBush...

Cairns 2016 trip. I had to expand my search to other parts of the bridge, but I was happy to locate this cache.
Thanks

No luck here. As this one has remained unfound for so long if the owner would like to send us a hint we will try again tomorrow on our way back in to Bourke. Thanks.
