Description
This cache is on one of my favourite little trails in the area, it's only a short walk from end to end and is easily managed by small children with supervision. It does however require sensible footwear as the track has a few rock stairs and rough patches.
This is a favourite spot to bring our Cub Scouts especially at dusk as there is always plenty of wildlife about. If you are planning to visit late afternoon it is possibly best to park at the Dam end of the track outside the gates as they are locked at dark and this end is closer to the trail.
The cache is close to the track so keep an eye out for other walkers.

Did a bit of maintenance on this one a while back and of course very slow to post that fact.
Still in place and devious as ever.

Finally! Second look for this and just as we were about to give up we got our hands on it! Tftc great sneaky hide

Finally. 2nd time looking for it.
Well hidden. But for some reason I saw it.
The universe may have spoken because I was about to DNF it

Did a quick check over this cache last week, it all seems to be in order. Thanks to those who've taken the time to go find it.
I wasn't planning on going geocaching today although I did plan a walk and I knew that it would take me past a geocache that I had not found numerous times...I was planning to just walk past it like I didn't care, but once I got there and with a bit of walking thinking and knowing how tricky and devious the other "Dam nice" caches in this series were, I decided to maybe have a quick search, I had a few ideas but they turned out to be wrong! So I was looking in what I was pretty sure the right area and delving into spots and then I had something in my hand and didn't even realise it was the cache and about to put it back and had a quick look at it and just shook my head. Dam! What a cache, as much as I hated it, I love it! Thanks so much for this cache TazScout, you made the hunt tricky but eventually rewarding - it is almost a "Curse the Hider". The logbook was a bit damp but I got to etch my name in it.

I am having no luck with this cache, this is the second time I have searched for it...maybe next time...a great walk though.

Easy find after a hint from another cacher. I shouldn't have read the hint...as too obtuse and misleading for me.
Have completed the lovely walk...nice area. Tftc TazScout...cheers ST.

On a cool, wet and windy day we decided to go for a walk and pick up a few caches in the Trevally Dam region. This was the third one along the trail and proved elusive at first, but now that we know the level of deviousness involved, we were up for the challenge and soon had the cache in hand. A very, very clever and devious hide. Thanks TazScout for organising another very sneaky cache.

Maintenance walk along the track today and checked in on this one. Log book in good condition and all as it should be.
Have been sorting through various dz trophy points requirements to reveal a cache needed to be found starting with the letter 'V' to complete a particular trophy, plus nab a few other GA caches if available. The only two caches I could find starting with 'V' were 'Victoria Peak' and 'Victor the Vet Gnome'. The first required a very arduous trek on the West Coast...so soon ruled that one out, especially at this time of the year....the latter was a moveable in the Trevallyn State Reserve so was way easier to access..the only problem being in whether it had been found and not yet logged as is often the case with moveables..ah well, would soon find out.Having to once again attend an appointment to see a Specialist today (Friday), a plan was soon hatched. The weather forecast was not too bad in Launnie, being mostly fine and showers or rain developing later in the day. Set off around 9am in overcast conditions but cleared a little on arriving at the Dr's surgery. All went as well as expected there, then off to find the elusive moveable cache. Set the coords on the trusty Garmin Navigator as I find it much easier to navigate the jumble of streets around Trevallyn and Launceston in general. It was not long before gz was reached with not a muggles in sight. Clue said it was hidden at the base of a tree...yes but which one. After a few false starts the right tree was soon indeed found and Victor the Vet Gnome was finally in my grasp.. Now off to find some caches along the Trevallyn dam track. Found the first couple of caches ok but this one eluded me even though looked for quite awhile. Gz had me right on the track...so looked in an increasing radius but a no go today. Will come back when I have more time available... Tftc Tazscout...cheers ST.

It has taken me three goes at this one but today I got lucky! Checked out this tree and that tree and then I sat down to look at it from a different angle and what do you know I found it. I had looked in that place before but now from a different angle I spied it. Cache is in very good condition and log is dry. Over 14 months since it was last found. All those trees don't help with Phone GPS accuracy but today it was very accurate and no one was around as it was late in the day and a bit cold which made for a successful search. TFTC- tricky hide

This was a quick find by Egg and while we were enjoying the view a big leech has found on Alby which was removed with extreme prejudice before we moved on to the next.
Thanks for the great work.

I was really impressed by some of the hides in the the reserve. This one was certainly one of them. We were searching in all different area around it but the egg did it again, finding this clever one. She is very thorough in her searching. Recommend this one for sure! TFTC

TazScout thank you for the cache.
This one was found while caching with a great group after the Trevallyn Trekking event.

It's always satisfying to find a cache that a much more experienced cacher has DNF'd on. Can't say it was a quick search though. Spent a long time here before locating this crafty hide. It blends in so well that it is no wonder it is so hard to find. Thanks, another great hide in this series.

Given it's been a year and after a DNF from a very experienced team I thought I should check on this one.
The Cache was exactly where we left it, replaced the log page and replaced it.
Did an update on the coords while I was at it and made a small change.

Well suffering badly with the flu this week Mr Felix thought he was up for a short walk to grab some caches.
well he found most of your caches some very clever micros but it took far longer than anticipated.
Sadly he had to give up with this one.

At first I followed the GPSr down the hill (it consistently showed down there) and searched various areas.
Then I looked at the terrain rating, and came back to a sensible spot where I quickly found the clever hide.
Thanks.

The lovely walk continued on to this one, which was a little frustrating as the GPSr pointed way down the hill, and certainly ventured way farther than was required !
Thanks for the cache, TazScout !

I have to admit I ventured rather further into the bush than I needed to here. Then started grumbling about hiding micros in such way out spots. Then found the cache in the last spot I looked (isn't that always the case?). Another great hide TazScout. It is indeed a nice location, though just across the way is dam disgusting opulence in my book.

Today we found some caches that had been published while we have been away.
Enjoyed our walk beside the river and the quality of the hides. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.

After a tasty breakfast at the Basin Cafe we decided that as the weather was so beautiful a short walk up by the dam was in order to burn a few calories. If you didn’t know the date you would have said that today was a typical Tasmanian Autumn day - still, frosty crisp and sunny. I was wanting to try out various geocaching apps on my new iPad mini to see which worked the best but unfortunately and surprisingly there was poor reception in the area. Luckily I’d brought my proper GPSr as back-up. Dare I say it TazScout -yes - like a good scout I came prepared! We both agreed that walking in this area is much more relaxing at this time of the year than in high Summer when snakes are much more active. We enjoyed our walk through and back along the track finding your clever little caches on the way. Thanks for bringing us back to a track we haven’t walked for a couple of years.
This is indeed in a nice spot and fairly easy to find.
PS I’m relieved that we didn’t have as much trouble finding your caches and needing step by step instructions 50m out from GZ as you did to find ours! (cough)

Spotted by mr sharnie's tribe on our way from Trevallyn Dam to Aquatic Point and back to find the caches along the track. Enjoyed this one. TFTC
We started the walk from the Trevallyn Dam end. It was a pleasant walk above and along the foreshore of Lake Trevallyn. We saw a couple of wallabies but everything else must have been sleeping during the middle of the day. When we got near GZ we started to hunt around. After a short time we checked what we had originally dismissed because it was too rigid. Checking it out revealed the cache with the cache and contents in good condition. This is an excellent hide. Thanks for the cache TazScout and thanks for bringing us on this enjoyable walk.
*FTF* at 0955. Where are all you local cachers? A great hide andI a well constructed cache. Left pathtag, TFTC.
