Description
Visitor Information Centres are very valuable sources of information for tourists visiting an area. Information about accommodation, attractions and services is readily available from the largely volunteer staff who operate these centres Australia wide.
Visitor Information Centres are identified by the yellow letter "I" on a blue background and usually there are signs at the entrances to towns and cities showing the way. Many Visitor Information Centres are incorporated with other attractions such as museums, art work and crafts.
The photograph below is of the Great Western Tiers Visitor Information Centre at Deloraine in Tasmania. It has the indentifying logo on the front of the building and on a sign on the street. Special features of this information centre include the superb Yarns Fabrics Installation, a folk museum and a memorial to Malua, one of the greatest racehorses in Australia (won races over 1100 to 5200m on both the flat and over the jumps, including the 1884 Melbourne Cup and the 1889 Grand National Hurdle - see Malua for more details).
To log the find you are required to locate a Visitor Information Centre displaying the "yellow I on a blue background" logo either on the building or on a sign in front of the Visitor Information Centre. The logo must be at the Visitor Information Centre, not at a sign located elsewhere indicating the way to the centre.
To log a find for this cache you are required to
- provide the coordinates of the Visitor Information Centre
- upload a photo of yourself or GPS at the Visitor Information Centre which includes the distinctive logo
- (optional) include a description of any features which make the particular Visitor Information Centre unique such as displays, museums, welcoming staff etc.
There is a limit of one find per cacher. Each individual Visitor information Centre may only be logged once. For the purposes of this cache, Visitor Information Centres with the same name but located in different towns or areas can be considered as different information centres and each may be logged.
If the above conditions are not met, the cacher logging the find will be asked to either amend their log so that it complies or to delete their log.
Happy Hunting. Let's see how many we can find and in the process, recognise the value work undertaken by the volunteers as they welcome visitors to their area.

This used to be a quirky little spot that sold some cool local stuff as well as helping visitors to the area discover the hidden treasures of Lismore. The Feb 2022 floods wiped it out completely, but just recently they've started repairing it. I honestly thought they'd demolish the place, but it's good to see that it will be back up and running again soon. Quite a few workmen arriving as I left. The yellow/blue sign can be seen on the building still.
Found this one while doing a tour of Western Australia. Unfortunately I can’t do selfies, so in the photo is my caching teddy- Miss Chief. This place was quite busy on the day I visited. It was a lunch stop.
But today while driving through Sheffield we stopped to check out the Information Centre there. Well the old one still has the needed i, and next to it is the new centre which only had the i on a sandwich board outside. So I am hoping that between the two Sheffield ones we finally qualify for this one.
Thanks 2y'stassies.
Oops!! Coordinates are S41 22.984 E146 19.525.
This visitor Information Centre is located in the old council building. It also house a local museum.

Daylesford information centre.
This is a real tourist hub in the shire where I live.
Pretty quiet though at the moment...
Many thanks 2y'stassies.
So while giving them a break this afternoon after the morning visit and doing some stuff in town I came across the local Tourist Info Centre. This is a fairly small house just off the main street, but as this is a tourist town in normal times then it makes sense to have one. Thanks 2y'stassies.
A bit quite in the city today. Bunbury's Visitors Centre is small but I think there is a little room with some displays, haven't looked at them myself, only go when needing brochures for holidays.

Thanks and cheers

By the way I've just realised this is my 250th GCA find, 160+ of which have been Locationless- thanks everyone!
It was previously the home of a GC cache which disappeared, and was archived.
In the meantime there is some doubt about how long this building will remain open.
It must be very hard to gauge the cost effectiveness of keeping these centres open in small towns.
Hampton is a tiny town 29kms north of Toowoomba. It's delightful little Tourist Info Centre has a lot to offer travellers with friendly helpful staff and shady free camping with toilets (open 24/7) next to it.

Whilst the signs and the i is still there, this Centre is currently closed. Probably wasn't the best pace to put a tourist info centre anyway, although I don't know where the current one/s is. Not sure if that is a problem for logging this cache, but I will find another Centre and add a note here soon enough.
Thanks for the cache 2y'stassies!
Somebody set fire to our original tourist information Centre, and this is a temporary replacement, until the multi billion dollar Sheppparton Art Museum is constructed, which is supposed to be going to incorporate the new tourist information Centre.
Thank you for this Locationless. I needed one beginning with V to be able to spell my geocaching name for another locationless cache.
Thanks for the locationless.
usual info plus local trinkets and gift ware.

The Guyra Info Centre is a shared business with a restaurant. At one stage there was also a bike shop which made it a three way business and which accounts for the nifty bike rack in the photo........in fact, in this photo there's three locationless caches. There must be a cache for that?!

Thinking of which Visitors Centres I have been to and have photos of.... not many, but then I remembered this one we visited recently.
Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre
328 Hawkesbury Valley Way, Richmond NSW 2753
This centre is very prominent, being in Federation Square, and opposite Flinders Street station. Whenever I visit it there are always queues of people booking tours, getting maps and tourist information and purchasing souvenirs. Today it was particularly busy as it is school holidays and the Australian Open is on nearby.
This one was located at the Warburton Information Centre, an impressive water wheel runs along the wall.
Glenbrook Visitor Centre. Lower Blue Mountains.
Open Tuesday – Saturday 10am-3pm (note some Saturdays the centre closes earlier).
For any enquiries about Blacktown City, please contact our friendly staff at the Blacktown Visitor Information & Heritage Centre, located in the Civic Plaza on Flushcombe Rd, Blacktown.
We are an accredited information centre with the AVIC network and stock brochures for the Greater Sydney metropolitan area and other regions within NSW. Our lovely building was built in 1877 and used to house the former Blacktown Public School, the first school to open in Blacktown
Thanks for the locationless 2y'stassies
The Wench walks the path around the Aquatic Reserve most days. The Reserve encompasses a small lake and large grassed area, performance stage, picnic table and the Tourist Info Centre. Today we walked around the path an stopped for a quick photo between visitors coming and going.
The Information Centre is housed in the former Pumping Shed and has extensive information about the local and broader Murray River area.
Thanks 2Y'Stassies.
The Golden Guitar
Mavvie, GeoDirk and HanorahTLG.
Whilst on holidays spotted this VIC on the way into town so grabbed a photo for this locationless.
Located in the Makers' Workshop this Centre honours Burnie's history, makers, innovators and artists. You can shop for locally made gifts, view Tasmanian art in the gallery, make paper, meet the makers or enjoy coffee.
Thanks 2y'stassies
The place was fairly quiet today, not surprising really. Who wants to know about Strath?!?
Thanks 2y'stassies.
MITTAGONG, NSW
This Visitor Information Centre is fairly new considering it is a few years old. This centre was built on the site of the old Golden Fleece Service Station and Restaurant. The previous Visitor Information Centre was further south opposite the Post Office and was shaped like a maple leaf. The unique structure had floor to ceiling windows and was brown in colour, and was sadly demolished. Logging for the Summer Scavenger Hunt find. Woo hoo I found a photo of the original V.I.C.
Summerland Way
This was a great place to stop - got maps for local walking tracks and suggested tourist drives in the district.
They have an attached shop selling quality local crafts, also a cafe and clean rest rooms.
The adjoining park has picnic tables, drinking water fountains and free BBQs.
TFTL 2y'stassies

The MajuraHathi party stayed at Nelson Bay recently and this skylarking photo was taken overlooking the Visitor Information Centre. Well worth a visit and a wonderful power trail nearby too.
Thanks for the locationless cache 2y'stassies
Cheers

The Information Centre is within Das Neumann Haus Museum which is located at the southern end of town on Patrick Street (cnr William Street). The building was hand built in 1893 by Hermann Neumann and showcases its German heritage.
There's also a coffee shop which serves a delicious Devonshire Tea.
And for the kids there is a small playground.
Free wi-fi is available to the public.
Opening hours are 10am-3pm 7 days a week.
Thanks 2y'stassies. Nice locationless.
Blue Mountains National Park Information Centre
Great Western Highway
Blaxland, NSW
This information centre is the first one you'll encounter when driving from Sydney to the west . . .
It's quite a big one.
E151.737919
the tourist info centre in glen innes is on the main highway as you come into the centre of town.
It has never been open on the several days I have been past as we are always too early or too kmlate when we leave/arrive.
It is in a historic looking building.
Open daily from 10am although it is manned by volunteers from the local community so opening hours may vary. There is an undercover area just outside the office where people can sit, relax and gather information. There are many large posters which contain relavant information about the Litchfield area. Thanks 2y'stassies for this locationless cache
On the road into Canberra (Northbourne Ave) and it's the place for first time visitors to head to get the low down on the National Capital. Great time to visit at the moment with Floriade in full swing. Apart from Floriade, the info centre staff can give the first time visitor a list other great things to see visit. One of my favourites is the Australian War Memorial...and they have a great photo here at the info centre of the Remembrance Wall.
If you haven't been to Canberra....what's stopping you!!
Thanks 2y'stassies....cool locationless.
Update 15/9/14: Thanks corunnaroad for now fully meeting the requirements - appreciated.
It is staffed by volunteers who do a great job. They change displays regularly.
Photo taken with GPS so could not include in photo
Cheers OldSaint.
From their website, they claim to be the "Best Visitor Centre in Tasmania!"
I shall try to find out a little more about the history of the building to add to my log later.
