Description

This locationless celebrates local footy.

Your challenge is to post coordinates, a photo and the names of the two teams competing at a local Aussie Rules footy game.  If permission is not sought from the players, a wide angle shot or a photo of the scoreboard will be fine.

This cache can be logged multiple times but only once per game and the two teams are to be different from your previous logs.

See you at the footy!

FTF congratulations to corunnaroad for going to the footy in Darwin!

Many years ago I used to go to see a local club play most weeks. But I haven't been for many years. But today my nephew was playing his 200th game for local club Turners Beach club so I thought I'd better make the effort and go watch.
Unfortunately Turners Beach were flogged with the final scores being
Turners Beach 5 goals 12 - 42 points
Spreyton 28 goals 5 points - 173 points.
But in a show of good sportsmanship both teams lined up and cheered as my nephew was carried off the ground.
Have included a couple of photos of the day.
Thanks.

So, I was out and about today gathering up a few locationless caches and dropped into Manuka Oval (Star Track if you want the sponsored name) to grab a photo of the scoreboard for the latest locationless....and low and behold, there was an ACTTAFL (is it still called that???) semi on between Ainslie and Belconnen....just not sure what grade it was. So I snapped my photo of the Jack Fingleton Scoreboard for that cache, and then turned around and snapped a photo of the game going on for this cache. It was just as the siren sounded for the 1st Quarter, and (probably to the dismay of the CO) Belconnen were up by about 5 goals. Didn't see the final score, but being an Ainslie fan, I hope the score turned around for you MajuraHathi.......

If you were there and you saw a guy in a red t-shirt taking a photo of the scoreboard........it was moi!!!!

Thanks MajuraHathi....was only thinking today that I'd probably missed logging this one for another year...but there you go. Some days your luck is in.

We were passing through Campbell Town in Tasmania when we noticed a game of footy underway. We went in (because there was no charge on the gate) and found at that the local team, the Campbell Town Robins (red and black), were playing the Mt Pleasant Mounties (light blue/dark blue) in an Oatlands District Football Association game. The very vigorous barracking and the sounding of car horns typified heartland footy. We later found out that Mt Pleasant won the game by about 20 points, not surprising since they have been Premiers in three of the last four years. Thanks for the cache MajuraHathi.

Footy season in Darwin is during the wet season - opposite to the southern states. This match was between University Rats (my son's team) and the Nightcliff Tigers at TIO stadium last season.
