Description

A large cache on McQuoids Hill......just how far up McQuoids Hill is the question.    Happy to say you won't go all the way to the top, however your GZ will give some good views over the sleepy, and somewhat less visited areas of Kambah, as well as the surrounding area......with, of course, lots kangaroos, rabbits and the odd horse or two.

Now, to find the cache, simply answer these questions from the location sign you find at the posted co-ords........and then you'll find GZ at S35 22.ABC  E149 02 BCD

A = Number of panels on the location sign..... x 3

B = 5th number of the phone number on the location sign....-1

C = Number of letters in the second word on the top panel.....-1

D = Number of letters in the second word on the top panel.

Once at GZ, as long as everyone does the same, you should only need to move the top rock, then reach down into the cache and grab the log book.

Enjoy your walk and the views.....

I finally took a walk on Maquoids Hill and found this cache. Beautiful day to be out caching. Thanks for the lovely big hide

Good hike up the hill

A long day caching in Canberra that started with a park run at Lake Tuggeranong, some caches in the lake area and then a move all over Canberra to end up at the event at the southern cross club. Lots and lots of walking and even more hills, but that's no surprise in Canberra. Secretly I actually like the hills and the views that come with it. Only a few DNF's today, my bad and all caches were in good condition! Thanks to all the owners for placing them.

I only noticed this cache on my way down the hill, so did the calculations then headed up the hill again! Brick Wall

Took the short-cut straight up the hill, rather than using the road so got there fairly quickly to find the large container. Strange having to reach into a cache to get the log book!

Thanks for bringing me up the hill (again).

Good view from the cache and only a short walk to the top of the hill for excellent views. I enjoyed lying on the hilltop and watching the wedgetail eagles circle above. TFTC Very Happy

924. Starting to clear out some of the caches that have begun to close in around me. I make it 52 within 5km and although not all from this site it is going to be cleared out before the move.

SO I was cursing having to come up the hill again but once the cache was found thought of you, dear CO carrying the container up here. Although not heavy heavy I guess a bit unwieldy and unexplainable to any passers-by.

Ribbit Loki was out and about today on a waypoint hunt. There was also a detour via Mcquoids hill for a few smilies. I quickly gathered the necessary information and headed up the hill. Steep but thankfully short! After trudging my way up to GZ, the cache was revealed after a short hunt. All in good condition. Thanks Sol de lune Ribbit

After evading the horses - one kept stepping in front of me (sorry horse, no food for you) - I easily worked out the next section and then it was up the steep hill. Dusk was falling and by the time I reached the cache I needed a torch. Then I returned in pitch black back down the hill. The horses were still grazing...in the dark. Last of thirteen GA caches this afternoon Very Happy. TFTC Sol de lune.

#GA847 - 17:40; This one has been on the 'to do' list for a while along with a few GC caches in the area. With the weather cooling off this arvo, I decided to have a go. Made my way easily to WP1 where the required information was gathered and the calculation completed. It was then time to scale the dizzy heights to GZ. I followed the formed path for most of the way and left it only metres from GZ, where a successful find was made. TFTC Sol de lune Very HappyClan Cerberus

After finding Top or Bottom on Urambi I was no longer hoping for a first to find but figured a 2TF would still be in the running. Went to WP1 got the info and started to climb. Good work in getting a large cache up there Sol carrying nothing I was struggling and with the cold my throat was stinging by the time I got to GZ. A quick signing of the log book, a quick look at the view and a very quick move to put my hands back in the pockets before my fingers froze (I't only day one of winter, I've gotten softer) and then I was back on the way to the car.
TFTC Sol, it's good to be able to find GCA's other than trigs

... Just as I was reaching the car I got an email a new cache is published along molongolo... Quickly looked and figured the first to find would be up for grabs and I'm going for it. Got back to the car then when looking how to get to it I found I would have to venture way up north, to late for me. Hopefully the first to find will be there tomorrow evening when I'm up that way, but I doubt it.

After spotting a few new GCA caches on the web site, I thought I would take a look. This was the fourth and last. I arrived at WP and after completing the other 3, hoped that GZ was in the nearby trees. If only. Well, I can say I have never ventured up or down this track before and now I have done both.
It was a great stroll in the moonlight and after some huffing and puffing I reached GZ. Yeah, another *FTF*. A nice stroll back to the car and I nearly walked into one of them horse things while texting away. I had to walk around it after a bit of a pat.
Thanks Sdl for another nice multi and a lovely sized container.
