Description

The Lower Molonglo River Corridor - in the west of the ACT, is a neat spot to walk along the Molonglo River.  You can can literally walk for miles in either direction (you will run into the Murrumbidgee River at some stage going one way though), however for this multi cache, you'll only be heading about 420 metres from the WP.  However, it's probably not the easiest (or hardest) 420 metres that you will have walked.....the up the down sections will see to that.

To find the GZ for this little walk, answer these questions, from the information panel at the posted co-ords, and then the cache will be waiting for you at S35 15.ABC E148 58.DEF

Is there a photo of Kangaroo Grass on the information board?     A = 1 if Yes or A = 7 if No.

Is there a photo of a Kangaroo on the information board?   B = 7 if Yes or B = 8 if No.

Was it about 425 million years ago that Trilobites inhabited earth?    C = 6 if Yes or C = 0 if No.

Are dogs allowed in the Lower Molonglo River Corridor?   D = 7 is Yes or D = 4 if No.

Are dogs allowed off leash on the Shepherd's Lookout Loop Track?   E = 3 if Yes or E = 7 if No.

All fires are prohibited?   F = 5 if Yes or F = 9 if No.

So, there is a short lesson on the Lower Molonglo River Corridor.    Head off and now and find the cache......and watch out for the change in the south minutes wont you!!!   (it always catches someone)

Check the gallery for a couple of 'view' photos.....

Day 14 Mainland trip
Out and about caching with Tassie Trekkers and this was a multi we solved while in the area. Mr W and Mr T headed off to find 2 GCA caches and a GC. All good at GZ. They passed a few keen fishermen so hopefully they caught something. TFTM

A couple of days ago I was still up at stupid o'clock at night, getting lost in cyberspace rummaging around on the Geocaching Australia website and while looking at a list of the close to my home caches I noticed a multi that had not been found for 3 years... this close to Canberra, a short walk down that well used track? how can that be?... has been a little while since I have been walking there - about time I went back... so, the next day I looked at the map in the app and noticed there were actually 2 multis here... and the other one hadn't been found for 2 1/2 years... looks like I have 2 reasons to go for that walk... so the next day (today) I decided to take advantage of not being at work (is school holidays and I work at a school) and come for a walk... and a very enjoyable walk it was - collected the info for both of the unloved caches and was second to find on a virtual that had been published and found way back in January... then wandered down and found both of the caches Smile
TFTC - Found this one first, because it was closer... all safe and sound, apart from a tiny bit of water I wiped out of the bottom... log book/etc was nice and dry though... nice quick find, took a few photos of me excavating the ancient treasure, signed the log and took photos of that (I take lots of weird photos - lol), re-hid the cache, and headed down to find the other one Smile

Ribbit After an enjoyable walk along the Shepherd's lookout-Molonglo trail we then headed for the Lower Molonglo River Corridor trail. Collected the info for both multis at the start and off we went down the track. It gets steep pretty quickly along the way so we realised on the return journey! An easy find at GZ with more stunning views of the river. With the river roaring after the rain overnight we elected not to make the journey to the end of the trail today since we will need to come back for 'Cliffhanger' some time anyway when we can safely cross the river. Looking forward to our return visit. Thanks Sol de lune Ribbit

Found with geoson Skypirate. We came down here today because I wanted to finish these multis that LuckyL10n and I almost attempted together sometime ago. This time I wanted to do the GC caches as well. We had completed GA7236 just earlier and we were armed with the calculated coords for this cache so headed to this one after first trying and failing to reach a GC cache on the other side of the river. We located this cache 4:24pm without too much trouble. Now onto the Holden EK cache from here. After signing the log I replaced the cache and covered it as we had found it. Nice views from here.

Thanks for the cache.

#GA554 - 10.35; I had been in the area last week, but it was too dark to tackle this cache and its near neighbour. I was in Belconnen on an errand and was aksed to comeback later, so I decided that the timing would allow me to grab said caches while I was waiting. Made my way to the posted coords and soon had GZ caculated. Then it was off down the trail towards the first GZ and a quick find. Imagine my horror when I couldn't access the GC cache on the iPhone on which I had input the coords for this cache as I had 'No Service. A sigh of relief when I realised I'd saved it to an offline list, and I was soon on my way. I hadn't been down this far on previous expeditions, and happy that it wasn't summer, with all of the long grass down by the river. Another quick find once at GZ. Interesting container given recent events Question Now for the part of the journey I hadn't been looking forweard to, the climb back to the geomobile Rolling Eyes TFTC Sol de lune Very HappyClan Cerberus

Too nice of a day to be stuck at work, so I headed off in pursuit of a couple of new multis out this way.
After finding a suitable car park, I headed over to the info board and began my research. Some things were real easy and others I made a little difficult, only because I didnt read the whole sentence properly.
Anyway, down I went with some careful foot placement as there was still ice/frost on the track and it was about midday.
Yeah, a blank log greeted me for another *FTF*.
Thanks Sdl for yet another great little multi and bringing me back to this very picturesque part of our territory.
