Description
This is one of a number of caches that we are putting out for the Winter Games.
Blyth Heads is a very small residential area at the mouth of the Blyth River. Nestled among the houses in the area is a small wood-chopping arena which is the home of the Annual Blyth Heads Chopping Carnival. The area is very well maintained and is obviously valued by locals and visitors alike. On the day of the carnival, this cache would be near impossible to retrieve but for the other 364 days of the year, it should be a straightforward find and retrieval.
The cache is a screw top container made from PVC components and painted black. It contains a logbook, pen and a variety of swaps.

Needed a reward after returning from ongology checkup, so found this convenient cache to do the honours. Found quickly and accurately placed of course, with contents in excellent condition. Thanks 2y's for this little diversion. Mrs rhubarbroad will not be pleased as she wasn't present !
Straight forward find on our way home from Burnie. Never been here before. It is a very quiet spot. TFTC
Today on our way back from Burnie we decided to stop and find this cache, using the hint an interesting cache container was quickly located, was a clever idea this container muchly enjoyed the creativity. signed the log and replaced container back into its hiding place TFTC

Out and about caching with Tassie Trekkers in the North West and this was one of the caches we found. An interesting spot. Cache snug in its hidey hole. TFTC
We are participating in the States of the Nation games which are currently running from 16 December 2017 until 21 January 2018.
States of the Nation is a real and virtual geocaching scavenger hunt where your home state will compete against other Australian states to find and hide geocaches. Over the 5 week course of the game there will be hundreds of scavenges that you can track down, find and convert into points for your state. Some scavenges will be easy. Some scavenges will be tough. Some scavenges may be impossible. Don't despair. You are not competing just for yourself; you are competing as a state.
There will be a number of scavenges released on a weekly basis but each scavenge will remain until the end of the game. This means even if you decide to join the game part way through, the early scavenges are still available for you to claim. Scavenges will require you to find a geocache, hide a geocache, attend an event or do something else completely different. The game focuses on all aspects of geocaching and so all cache types, sizes, terrain and difficulty will be up for scavenging. TrigPoints, Events, History, Virtual, Webcam, Podcache and Locationless geocaches are all scavengable, so you're not just looking for a box under a bush. Each week there will be a mix of physical, non-physical and locationless geocaches so even if you are not in a geocache rich area, use the locationless component of scavenger series to get out, find something to log and gain points for your state. If you watch the scavenges as they are released you might also spot the 'not so hidden' patterns and plan for future weeks of the series.
Hiding geocaches will also be a large part of the scavenger series, but please remember this is a game of geocaching and geocaches that you hide should be long lasting, be of good quality and you should be proud of what you hide. Please avoid hiding a geocache just for the day so your state can find it before you archive it. Geocaches that exist for a short period of time may result in any claims on that geocache being disqualified. Play creatively, but also play fairly. More geocachers hiding more geocaches makes for more geocaching fun.
Sorry about the lengthy logs. We are currently aiming for a virtual verbosity trophy.

Today we visited this area finding caches that had been published since our last visit.

It's quite surprising how much is provided for here for a one day event. We even spotted a couple of street lights, though not over the arena. Zero muggles made for an easy find. We then enjoyed our lunch & would have been tempted to overnight in our motorhome but for the stern warning signs. Thanks 2y'stassies.

First stop in the hot bed of Central Coast and a good quick find. Parked the car so no-one could see what I was doing and the log was soon being signed. Good start to the day....which was better then the end....as Devonport had NO accommodation at all. Spirit of Tassie sailings has thrown things out. Did find a nice little hotel in Latrobe though, so all is ok.
Thanks 2Y'stassies....

As the name suggests there was no chopping today. It was very quiet at gz so we were able to search without fear of being watched. Mind you it didnt take long to find this one. From here we decided to head out to the point so the kids could investigate the rock pools and we could have a peaceful morning coffee. In all the visits to the NW Coast I dont remember stopping here before so another first today. An enjoyable stop. TFTC

A quick stop and find. Our timing couldn't have been better with this one, just as we were getting into the car to leave the local gardener came along to turn off the sprinkler. TFTC
Ditto Beatles2, sighted hiding location whilst parking. Another nice cashe, TFTC
Spotted the potential hide from the car as we pulled up. Our assumption was right and we quickly dealt with the cache. Pity about the signs - would make a great free camp area! A nice spot to return to and one we have cached at before. Thanks.
The first find of the day on our winter games caching day. A quick find at GZ. We've looked at this area a couple of times but never found a spot we wanted to put a cache in so thank you 2y'stassie for filling the gap here. No other signatures in the logbook so we'll claim FTF. TFTC
