Description

A great viewpoint on the outskirts of the GC Gnome Country

You are looking for a 200ml Sistema.

The cache is located at a viewpoint on the edge of the Darling escarpment. With GZ at an altitude of about 170 metres, there are sweeping views over the coastal plain.

I orginally chose this location as a waypoint for a GC multi cache. However, as it was too close to existing caches, it was not able to be used as a physical waypoint on GC. Because it is such an exceptional location, I decided that I would place a GCA cache here - there is a GC cache about 120 metres from GZ, but this particular location is a worthy destination in its own right.

Enjoy the views and the climb!

Parking:
S 32° 22.841 E 116° 00.044 (approach GZ from below)
S 32° 22.985 E 116° 00.638 (approach GZ from above).

The approach from below is probably the quickest, but not necessarily easiest (terrain rating is based on approaching from below). If you want to do some of the GC caches in the area, then you are probably better approaching from above.

It was a difficult bash to get here but with 1 GC cache and a Trigpoint and this cache with a view, it was all worth it - even though I only stayed a few minutes. With my energy reserves dwindling after doing nothing for so long, I decided that this was the last cache for the day. The cache and log are both in good condition, and the log was duly signed and replaced. Thanks to Firnsy for the cache.

Chwiliwr took me the easiest way possible to get to this cache along the tracks before bush bashing across the top of the hills as once there when I saw the slope up from the bottom I knew that I would not have made it up that way. Cache found without problems and is in good condition. Log signed and cache returned as found.

Thanks firnsy for the cache. Now to go back up that bit of the hill hunting a new trig that Chwiliwr has found on the map.

I found this one early on a day out to Serpentine to tackle the nearby Gnome series. Such a great way to start the visit. Very cute indeed. TFTC firnsy I'm a Laaaaaaaady, duh!

Met with Barnzy12 and JacobsCrew2 at 8.30am to make an assault on this hill to complete the last two unfound caches in the Gnome series. We parked at the suggested CO co-ords leaving ample space for any other vehicles to access the gate to the private property. Geo-hubby, Barnzy12 & JacobsCrew2 made the tough scramble through thick scrub to this gz plus completed the the GC Gnome multi and were back to the cars within 45 minutes, even after having a breather up top to admire the fabulous views. Thanks Firnsy for placing the cache and Ooh Yeh for adopting this series and keeping it alive for others to enjoy (debatable!!) I'm a Laaaaaaaady, duh!

This was the hardest GCA climb of the day, after doing the GC Ant and Gnome series earlier this one was akin to abseiling from the ground up Wink
Not 100% sure if this was the worst Think as it may have been my aching legs, back, arms, neck.
Well worth the effort to climb up for the view, although one of these gnomes needs to mow the lawn!
Thank you for the cache Firnsy
Cheers TLC

In relation to parking advice given by a recent finder, there is safe and legal parking at the given coordinates. It is illegal to block or partly block a vehicle entrance. Also, your personal safety in the bush is something that should always be taken seriously. There are safe routes from the suggested parking spot to the cache ... if you have to back track to find a safer route, do so.

Out for the day caching with Lazarus_68, We completed fourteen caches in the area starting with the Ant trail series and then some of the gnome hunter series before calling it quits for the day. Fantastic views from the cache location. I walked in from the Gnome Hunter: Kyzabra while Lazarus walked to Gnome Hunter Iluvtrekking, having already completed this cache. I then rejoined up with Lazarus at that cache and continued our journey.

Highly recommend cachers park further up road and approach from above, for these reasons:
1) Safety - climbing up/down a steep hill in thick bush is not easy. I encountered some precarious large rocks that if were to fall would have caused serious injury. Certainly don't tackle on your own. Higher ground is more level, plus there's a hiking trail.
2) Keep locals happy - lower waypoint parking is small and close to private property. Certainly do not repeat mistake I made of parking on their driveway, even despite it having two-lane-entry; their comment "people frequently drive/park on here" thus upset.
3) Easier access to the GC Gnome series.

After doing the GC multi nearby I came over to do this cache as well.

Found without problems.

Thanks for the cache.

I'm a Gnome, duh! *FTF* at 2pm I'm a Gnome, duh!

Lately we have not had much time for caching & after having some slight withdrawals, we decided to head out after lunch to find this new cache. We parked at the suggested spot & made our way up! Shocked

We followed some roo trails, before deciding our best approach was straight up... So whilst clambering up the slope, Master 3 held on to Dads hand tight whilst we tackled all those prickly things that gnomes seem to be so fond of Confused

Eventually we made it to the top & Jase went in search whilst we took in the spectacular view... Boy those gnomes love to play in some awful places, but they sure know a good spot when they see one lol Very HappyLaughingEvil or Very MadWink

TFTC firnsy... Cache was found safe & well, But now the dilemma begins! A new cache published only 136m away... And we need to be getting back home for school pickup I'm a Laaaaaaaady, duh!ShockedI'm a Laaaaaaaady, duh! oh what to do... I'm sure we can figure something out IdeaWink
