Description

If you haven't seen GA7314....maybe you should look at that as well.

Black Caviar - Australian Race Horse Superstar

Undefeated in 25 starts...an unmatched record in Australian Horse Racing History.

To find this cache, which is at S35 22.ABC E149 12.DEF, simply answer the following questions about the great horse.

A = Month Born - divided by 2 - XX/0A/XXXX

B = Year Born - MINUS 2 - XX/XX/200B

C = Numeric value of the middle initial of her trainers name, when A=1, B=2 etc etc

D = Lot number at the sale when she was purchased = D20

E = Total prizemoney = $7,953.93E

F = Day Born = F8/XX/XXXX

Use the "check co-ords" on the right hand side to check your GZ.......

So, that's it.    Once you have those sorted, head up the hill and make the find, but unless you want to go twice, again I say, check out GA7314.

Now as for the hide, once on the main trail, continue on until you are past and over the gully, (you'll know when you see it) then approach the GZ from above.     You can do it from below....but it's sooooo much harder.    Check the spolier photo in gallery to be sure.   (My GPS was saying 6 metres at GZ, so yep, check the spoiler.)    If it's a good day, you can sit on the nearby log and enjoy the sunshine.

Out with Kittykatch and Darzee Di for a last push for the SoN game. Now to log. I knew it was going to be a climb but we ended climbing all over the darn hill. Good views

Wow what a beautiful place to stop and find a cache or two. Have really enjoyed the puzzles and getting out on this hill. Glad I found this one now as I can head back to the car. Its 1014h and warming up. TFTC : )

After finding a few caches on the hill Mrs y'stassie noticed that this cache would be on her way back to the car - she is not known for her sense of direction.

We remember Black Caviar's racing history and how some of her latter races captured the nation.

Well Mrs y'stassie told her other half that it would not take long to find this cache and make her way back to the car. She was unaware she was on the wrong side of a steep sided gully. Never one to be deterred by a scramble she headed down, then up. She managed to avoid many of the spikey shrubs but had a few slides on the loose gravelly sides of the slope.

Finally she arrived at GZ where, after a circuit of the area, she spotted the well hidden box. When she opened it she found that the container held a reasonable amount of water. The log book was safe and dry in its ziplock bag. She dried the container as best she could with a tissue. Alas she had not brought the disposable hand towel with her. With all reasonably dry she rehid the container as she had found it and made her way onto a nearby track. Of she went hoping the way point she was heading towards was the one at the car parking spot where she had left mr y'stassie.

Fortunately the stars were aligned and she arrived back with no major dramas.

Thanks for this puzzle cache Sol de Lune. We certainly enjoyed solving the puzzle and finding the cache. This will be added to Mrs y'stassies list of adventurous caching experiences.

A quick grab this morning after gathering a set of co-ordinates.

Thanks for the cache Sol de lune

After a fairly quick solve of the puzzle, it was off to GZ for a quick find. Now off for some air-conditioning.

Thanks Sol de lune.

Thanks again SDL I have had a good time with theses two puzzles

Having worked out the nearby puzzle cache I decided to do the same for this cache, and then I set out to find both. It's a pleasant walk through here at present with all the wildflowers in bloom. I see what you meant by approach from above.
I was very close by only a couple of days ago. If you check the map you can see why Rolling Eyes. If only I had known Laughing. TFTC Sol de lune.

F(H)ound It! @ 4:20pm

After hunting down another handsome mare I back tracked for a bit - back to the main track. I took your advice and approached from above and it was a pretty easy scramble to GZ. I was just thinking that I was glad it was getting late because I am a bit exposed to muggles when one came around the bend. I sat and talked to the RP for a bit, although why I was doing this several meters off the track will be left for the muggle to ponder.
The Black Caviar story is so wonderful. The stuff of Aussie legend....and good looking too. Thanks for the cache, Sol de Lune ClappingClappingClapping
BTW just how many cordless drills do you own???

#GA680 - 17:00; Out for an afternoon caching run and decided to give Mount Jerrabomberra a try. Followed the access road for most of the way, taking a short detour to grab this cache along the way. Looks like more than caching brings people past this cache as there were tracks leading everywhere. Once at GZ it was a nice quick find and sign before I headed further up the hill. Again I solved the puzzle while watching the 3rd State of Origin. Solving the puzzle was far more rewarding!!!
I hit a familiar trail again, I was here only a week or two ago, and typically found the hard way to GZ. After elimininating my first option, I found another interesting container. Replacing the camo took a bit longer this time. I then found the easy way out.
Happy to find a blank log book and claim the *FTF* at 1539hrs.
Thanks Sdl for the cache, fun and research.
