Description

AAI - Crocodile

This is one of a series of five caches placed for the purpose of sharing the GCA Aborignal Art inspired path tag set, a stunning collection of tags produced for Geocaching Australia.

There are five tags in the set, five caches in the series and five sets of tags in the caches. If you are one of the first five finders of this cache, one of the Crocodile tags within is yours to keep. If you are one of the first five finders on each of the five caches in the series, then the entire collection could be yours.

It would be appreciated if everyone who takes a tag leaves another tag as a swap for future cachers, but this is optional if you are one of the first five finders.

Please do NOT take the tag that is glued into the cache ... that is there for viewing purposes only. If there are no Crocodile tags in the bag or loose in the cache, you have missed out.

DO NOT TAKE A TAG ON BEHALF OF ANOTHER CACHER - no tags to be taken for anyone who doesn't attend the cache and sign the log.

Suggested parking coordinates (2WD): S31° 24.752  E115° 39.525
Walk about 250 metres east from here and you should find a slightly overgrown track on your right that leads into the cache.

Safety note: The cache is near the top edge of a disused quarry and there is a cliff nearby. It is safe to approach by the suggested route, but do take care and ensure that any children with you are safe.

Enjoy

Took the better half up the rough track which she did not like but enjoyed the walk along to the cache from where we parked.

Cache found without problems. Log signed and cche returned as found.

Found this cache on the way up the 'short cut' track to the trig further up the hill. Walked the last bit to GZ as we were not sure we could turn around on the goat track.

Actual cache was found without trouble. Log signed and cache returned as found.

So glad to knock this one on the head, my fifth AAI thus completing the series. Did take a few minutes searching for this one, under watchful eye of local goat! Then down to track, turning left and up hill to the trig. Firnsy, you've done a great job, really enjoyed completing these!
Note one Crocodile path tag remains up for grabs by next finder.

Out and about in the area with Lazarus_68. Once the car had been parked we wandered up one of the tracks and as usual it was the wrong one so we were left with a 200m bush walk to get to the cache. Thats quite some drop off at the edge of the quarry. As we were walking around the quarry a goat came up to check us out. The cache took a little effort to find but we got there in the end. We took the right track out and followed this up to the trig point.

Well what an afternoon. Walked up to the Tower / trig point. my gps showed it 1.2km which is what my phone shoed as well. Then back down to this cache. I saw what i thought was a rocky ridge and when I stepped up onto it i was quite startled (putting it politely) as i was only a step of the edge of a very long drop. I kept walking along the edge and stopped to where the gca gps showed the cache was located. So i turned of the app and used my gps status app and i then walked another metre to where the exact coordinated were showing. So i took of my sunglasses and put them in my pocket so I could have a look around, thinking where do i start. For whatever reason i looked down and i was standing 3inches from the cache as i could see it just next to my boot I just yelled out very loudly of my elation not having to fossic around. So i signed the log, took my photo with the cache, grabbed a tag (sorry i can not replace an back in), placed the cache back in its hiding place. I started my trek back down to the car next to indian ocean drive. When i arrived the tag was not in my pocket and i had a rough idea where i took my sunglasses out of my pocket. S i trekked back up the hill and found it about 40 metres from i left the bush. So back down i went feeling very happy as not only did i find a cache but i also found a pathtag laying on the limestone track. So after all of that i trekked just over 3km's which is ok but i am fighting the flu so i was feeling rather exhausted but very very satisfied. Thanks for another great cache Pete. sorry for the story. ClappingDancingCool

Took a road trip up to this one picking up unfound caches along the way. Enjoyed a stroll to GZ and the unexpected unveiling of views all around. Took a couple of minutes of poking around before Mrs. O. found the cache. Pleased to see an empty log and score a new path tag, thanks. Interesting views across the quarry which were boosted by the presence of a curious wild goat who seemed to want to join us. The kids were concerned it was a killer goat so we legged it back to the car! TFTC.
