Description
Perth Wireless Station - Historic Engineering Marker #24
Contents of the plaque:
On 30th September 1912, eighteen years after Marconi’s first radio experiments, the Australian Postmaster General’s Department commissioned this radio station, equipped with a Telefunken 25kw, quenched-spark long-wave transmitter, coupled to a 120 metre high guyed aerial.
It established the first direct radiotelegraphic communication across the continent and maintained contact with shipping.
Between 1922 and its 1967 decommissioning, it also linked Australia to the world by short-wave radio.
When logging this virtual, please add a photo of yourself or your GPSr at the plaque.

Took a day off work as I had no admin to do and no appointments.
After parting ways with some other cachers in the city I headed here to complete an Adventure Lab and grab a few other finds also.
I'm sure I looked quite strange while getting the required photo.
An interesting spot and lots of interesting history. After a bit of wandering around I found the Historic Engineering Marker and took some photos.

A little bit of muggle action near the car park, the council had hi viz dudes picking up rubbish. I wandered around, and cleared the area of the indicated points
Fantastic day in this park, clear skies, magnificent views, and hardly anyone to annoy me.
Thanks from bringing me here
Thanks for all these virtuals.
Thanks for the series, now just have to get a few more around the place.
Thanks for the cache Team MavEtJu!
