Description
Meet GnoGrin the happiest garden gnome in the summer of 15/16 GeGnome event
GnoGrin always has a smile on his dial and a song in his heart. Nothing upsets him, he is truly a ‘pollyanna’ amongst garden ornaments.
- If it rains and he gets wet… no problem, the plants will love it.
- If he gets covered in mulch… not an issue, think of all those worms I can watch working their magic in the soil.
- If he gets crapped on… wow! won’t the flowers love that extra fertilizer.
Nothing gets him upset.
This summer he wants to travel and spread around his happiness. He doesn’t really care where he goes - gardens or beach, towns or bush. Its all an adventure and you can help it happen.
How?
First: Find him and log him as FOUND on his cacher page.
Second: Sign the logsheet located in the bison tube embedded in his back. This way you will be properly introduced. Take a photo with him if you like and post it on the cache page. He likes people, especially small people, and he loves photos.
Third: Find a new place to hide him. This could be just down the road, or 100s of KMs away. Just make sure its somewhere that someone can find him and preferably not next to a geocaching.com cache- to avoid confusion. Contact a fellow cacher if you like. Let them know GnoGrin is just ready and eager to meet them too.
Lastly: Update this cache page with a MOVED log, add the co-ordinates of where you left him and a really good hint.
And finally, remember, you can move him more than once, just as long as someone else has moved him in the meantime.
Enjoy your adventures GnoGrin.
Logs
Samboo was a wet and bedraggled bear we found in a cache in 2015. We took him home, dried him out and now he 'bosses' us around insisting that weekends are for adventures like geocaching not housework and to make sure we always have chocolate for him. Samboo collects friends like some people collect flowers, or stamps, or locomotive numbers. GnoGrin is one of those drawn to Samboo's inner circle. Samboo can't imagine a time without his gnomey friend and his gnomey friend wants to stick around because he never knows what Samboo is going to get up to. Hence this Archive log.
So in signing off, thank you to everyone who followed GnoGrin's adventures and helped move him on. He hope everyone has sun when you want it and rain when you need it.
As he talked about the places he has been, the other gnomes he has met, and most importantly the humans who helped him on his way. We feel privileged to have met either in real life, on the phone or virtually through a log - Youngi, Que Sera, Bear0503, Cheesymight, Crew 153, Maldawg and others who might have been playing along reading his logs.
Thank you from both GnoGrin and Petan.
Look for Eliza King's Headstone. Hiding over fence behind tree. In line with entrance gate.
"Did you see that storm last night? Lots of rain, can you hear the garden sing now that the plants have had a good drink".he said.
"But what about all the branches that have come down, and some of those flowers look a little sad", I queried.
"The council will use its mulcher, to chop the old branches into really small bits, then that will go onto the gardens to help stop weeds from growing. The flowers will decompose and nourish the soil. They will help new flowers to grow. Isn't that great? By the way, I have a present for you from QueSera", he said as he turned to show me his back.
"Why, how lovely" was my reply, "that was a very thoughtful thing to do. I will have to thank her for her gift. Would you like to come home tonight?" I asked.
"Yes", was his reply. "Its been lovely to have an adventure, but I have missed Samboo and all my friends who normally live at your house. I'll decide tomorrow if I am going to keep going on my adventure or rest for a while. I think you have been neglecting the herbs while I am away".
So GroGrin hopped into the back of the car, along with Mr Clippy and surprise surprise, Samboo whom he was delighted to see.
Thank you, QueSera for my little gift - Susan from Petan
I have been into this bit of bushland a number of times now and I had no problem locating the spot and I soon saw his grin shining out at me.
Lets see where we can move himm to.
Good luck GnoGrin, its been nice to see you.
When we went to bed last night Samboo and the gnomes were quite happily sitting and watching the Doctor Who Christmas Special. Gnome-Miner particularly wanted to see it because he's seen the previews on youTube but missed out his phone was all out of credit to be able to watch it on iView. Anyway, as I said they were all quite happily getting on when we went to bed.
Then this morning...
We woke up to squabbling in the lounge room. It seems that G-nome had found the box of caching chocolates and while he had opened them, suddenly realised that Samboo had a box of Lindt chocolates that Santa had given him for Christmas. G-nome kept on asking why he had to eat Cadbury, when Samboo had a box of 'good chocolates'. The bear wasn't so sure about this, after all Santa had given him the box of chocolates and he didn't want to give the box to G-nome. Needless to say there was quite a to do with Samboo getting quite upset, G-nome and Gnome-Miner being insistent that the chocolate should be consumed not hoarded, and the middle of it GnoGrin trying to come to a compromise.
GnoGrin gently suggested that since there were five balls in the box, and only four people to eat them, Samboo should keep the extra chocolate. It was then that Samboo realised that he was amongst friends and that yes, he should share his chocolates because that's what friends do.
... and they all lived happily ever after.
“There are gnomes down there, can we go and rescue them?’ Samboo asked.
“We don’t see why not”, was our reply and we packed some coffee, water and snacks and hit the road.
Travelling south, we travelled through the new St Helena tunnel and arrived at a spot near Emigrant Creek. Samboo elected to stay in the car but rushed out when we brought out the gnomes from their hiding spot. As he leaped from the car he proceeded to greet the gnomes. He was particularly excited to see Gnogrin. Gnogrin stayed with us before he started his own adventure.
Of course there was lots of chats in the back of the car as Samboo and the gnomes swapped news and stories. After a small side trip down to Evans Head, the gnomes will stay at our house near the beach, for the next day at so, resting up for the next part of their adventure. I heard at least one of them is hoping to go surfing.
So glad you guys are enjoying watching Gnogrin on his travels. We are having so much fun moving/hiding the gnomes too and have become very fond of them. I am new to geocaching and saw your post about Gnogrin on geocaching SEQ Facebook page when you were getting him ready for the race. That was the first we had heard of the Gegnome race. So when we saw that Gnogrin hadn't moved for a while Que Sera and myself had to go and collect him and start him on his journey. We will continue to help him on his travels and very much hope that you guys might be able to catch up with Gnogrin (and the other gnomes) in Brissy some time soon.

Thank you for 'playing' with GnoGrin I am enjoying reading his adventures each time you find or move him. Its unfortunate that I live southern Gold Coast and can't easily get to Brisbane to play along. Although hopefully I might need to journey to the 'big smoke' soon for other things and hope to be able to detour to find a gnome or two or three (or even four if Flappy http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga7998 ends up following the gnome trail to BrisVegas )
Once again, thank you and happy gnome hunting.
Susan (one half of Petan)
