Description

Find an example of a truly interesting parking effort.

Over the last little while we've seen some very interesting efforts at parking within a defined space so we thought we'd throw out the challenge to photogragh what you think is a truly interesting parking effort.  We're not looking for the ordinary, or your own staged parking effort or internet downloads.  We're looking for photos and coordinates for occasions when you stop and look and mutter "I wonder where they got their licence?"  It may not be practical to include yourself or your GPS in the photo but please do so if you can.

Spot this car and boat trailer near the kfc at the Devonport homemakers center. There were plenty of others spots that didn’t have a path in between them.

Logging for the Cacheopoly Game.

Saw this when in the Wollongong area caching with WaywardWoman. I know it was Uni holidays, but would it have been so hard to actually park in a parking spot!

28-Dec-23
Spotted this car and van doing the rounds of the Glebe Hill Shopping Centre. Where they parked took up at least 7-9 spaces. I just hope when they came back noone had parked in front of them. TFTL Using for the Cacheopoly games.

I was just about to get out of my car when this car parked beside me. Initially thought that seems a long way away.
Interesting effort. Nearly got it there.

Stopped at the Longwarry (Westbound) Service Centre and I couldn't believe the magnificent parking effort from this car. Perfectly centered.

OK I can understand that the truck on caterpillar tracks might be hard to park, but the white car?

Photo is at Gosford, NSW, with Gosford Hospital in the background.

Only slightly off the street in Lithgow!

I saw this parking effort by the black jeep , who was actually there first, so the white car squeezed in just to prove a point.
Thanks for the virtual, always good fun to be able to log these types when you see something odd, and think "I'm sure there's a cache for this"

Exited a local cafe to find this interesting parking effort. Maybe the owner had urgent matters at the public toilet just down from here - after all, it had been raining and time was of the essence. Or, maybe an appointment at the local courthouse across the street was the reason - to answer for a poor driving matter?
To be fair, the blue car on the left wasn't all that well parked either, but at least it stayed within the lines Laughing

Taken at 6:30pm. This driver was obviously in a hurry to get to the supermarket or perhaps to a restaurant. Luckily there were plenty of other parking spots for people who know how to 'park within the lines'.

16-Feb-17
Took several attempts for this driver to claim two spots.

Ettamogah Pub. The classic interesting parking.

I do not know if I can adequately explain this, but I spotted this interesting carparking effort as I rushed into the shopping centre for an appointment. I was running late, so only had time for a quick snap.

It appears that driver of this car decided that the pedestrian crossing was not only for people walking or mobility scooters but also for small grey hatchbacks. You could excuse it if the car had lost control and had crashed into the building or 'archway' but it was parked neatly in the shade of the awning. Likewise, you could excuse it if there was some sort of medical emergency - but everyone seemed to be sitting calmly inside.

Ok it was a hot day, but there was plenty of shaded carparks, and they could of dropped passengers off in the nearby shaded taxi area - particularly if there were elderly or disabled in the car. But this is clearly a pedestrian only area.

I'm still shaking my head thinking "what that!". Thanks for the locationless.

This parking effort is famous. In fact there is a GC cache here. It's down a cliff and hard to reach on foot so you can only imagine the skill involved to park here! Maybe the owner will be back before the ranger gives him a ticket!

Parking a ute can be hard at Moree

10-Jan-17
This guy actually really annoyed me. Hot summers day at the local shopping centre where everyone is scrambling for any car park they can and this guy thinks just because there are a few trolleys in the other park that they don't have to try. Ugh

Two found on the same day within Perth CBD...
King St - car in loading zone encroaching into spot behind, with room spare in front.
Murray St - note rear wheel on curb

07-Jan-17
This was a class effort. Parked on a driveway, on the naturestrip too, I can only hope it was the persons own car......

07-Jan-17
I've tried to hide the number plate in the picture as when my geocar came up the ramp of the local shopping centre early in the morning I found this. This isn't the most outrageous I've seen this silly season but for me with no adjacent cars the carelessness makes it worse. How hard is it to line your car up?

Found at Woolworths Palmyra 6157

This car is parked on top of a steel support on this owner house roof. I had a look at some other photos and hhis one is not that different. TFTL SHARNIE'S TRIBE Clan Minotaur

I was visiting this area so I could park and walk up Mt Ainslie when I noticed this car parked. They have tried to park in a zone but the back of the car was stick out so much. Truly interesting parking. TFTC

Enough said...words can't really explain it.

Over the course of the week or so that this locationless has been part of the Summer Scavenger Series I have seen some truly appalling parking efforts. There was that guy at New Years Eve with one wheel resting against the base of a Norfolk Pine - not a designated parking spot but s/he managed to get his/her 4WD in there. Then there was the joker double parked in a narrow street. The campervan drivers who parked against the yellow line (no parking in Queensland), and the numerous drivers who parked at the end of a bus zone. Unfortunately in each case I was the driver and I like my licence and merit points so touching the phone to take a photo was a no-no.

Instead I shall present as Evidence A a group of five drivers who have failed the reading test. The sign fairly clearly advises No Parking unless authorised. Since there was no emergency that the nearby Volunteer Marine Rescue were dealing with, not anything of an official nature on the beach. One can assume that all five vehicles had mounted the kerb to park in this spot because the surf was good but the on-street parking was bad.

On the way back to the car I could have taken a photo of the german backpackers who had parked their van in a position where rear of the vehicle was over in the designated road zone but they were still at their car and I did not wish to be beaten up.

Thanks for the locationless.

The young lady who owns this car was leaving her grandmother's home during one of Melbourne's "one in a hundred year" storms. Perhaps she would have been better off waiting until the rain eased off. Not having any visibility, she ended up "parked" on top of the retaining wall. I used my tow truck (pictured) to lift her car and place it back in the driveway. I have chosen to post nearby coordinates in High Street Ashburton as this is a private residence.

Noticed this Merc parked in my car park this afternoon ... parking was a little bit haphazard and it wasn't as if there was any lack of space in which to manouvre.

Mr T accidentally parked his father's car in our garage several years ago. Not a good memory but no injuries.

Out in the back street I noticed this abysmal parking effort. Maybe one of the builders in a hurry? Certainly looks like someone in a hurry anyway!

I couldn't help myself with this one...photo taken from the hip to be inconspicuous. Driver had proceeded to park herself on top of the large sandstone barrier rocks.
Location was in the carpark at Macquarie Park in Windsor (NSW)

I'm not sure the photo really explains this one, but this was snapped at the local boat ramp. This joker is parked between two no parking signs, right where people need to swing around to back down the boat ramp. 50 m up the road is a giant secure carpark for cars with trailers. Obviously too far to walk. I got lots of smiles and nods from the other boaties when I took the photo - I think they were hoping I was going to report him. Cheers for the locationless Sharnie's Tribe - logged as part of the summer scavenger series.

Team Spider drove into town today in our VW Geolf and happened upon this beauty. We'd stopped at the traffic lights facing it and I spotted the unusual angle of the car; I believe the rear left wheel is actually hanging in the air. TFTC Sharnie's Tribe

Popped over to Leeton to drop a family member off to pick up a car and parked mine to do some caching research. I was then interrupted by a bang and immediately got that sick feeling that someone had hit my car. Sure enough an elderly lady couldn't follow the parking lines and then opened her door onto my vehicle. A quick photo via the mirror and after she left, a quick inspection. Thankfully no major damage, but a poor parking effort in my books.

Who knew that Mr ILT's caching parking habits would one day earn him a smilie. Shame on you

OMGolly I cannot imagine how this ute ended up in this situation !! LaughingLaughing
We took the sprouts to Dubbo recently for a trip to the zoo and then via Parkes. We lost our way ( Embarassed on purpose) and headed down Mulguthrie Road at Ootha where we stumbled across some awesome utes, a couple are oddly parked.

Whilst visiting the Timeball and Lighthouse Tower at Williamstown, we saw an interesting example of how not to park - parallel parking in an area clearly marked for angle parking. The required photo, with Mrs y'stassie admiring the handywork, has been added to the Gallery. Thanks Sharnie's Tribe for the cache.

I was walking back to work with a handful of lunch and spotted a car making a very poor attempt at turning across the lane into an angled parking bay on the opposite side of the road, right in front of my business. Well, the first attempt wasn't quite right so the driver tried again, and again, and again, finally giving up and leaving the car parked as it is in the attached photo.

This person in the smallest of white cars decided in a practically empty carpark to park next to me. In essance, I have no problem with that, however, it would have been nice if they had left me space to get back into my car!! Brick WallBrick WallBrick WallBrick Wall

Got a ute? Park anyhow.... or so it seems.
Spotted this effort in Margaret Street Toowoomba.
Thanks Sharnie's Tribe.

In the Balladonia museum is this interesting parking effort - through a wall - a old Redex car.

#GA924 - 14:45; I was with the geohoney standing having a chat with some friends when the black car in the middle spot managed to ease in doing about 15-20 points to get there. Not bad managing to fit three cars into 2 parking bays, except the car at the rear had no way out! TFTC sharnie's tribe ThinkClan Cerberus

Hi Sharnie's
This car parked in a confined space at Sorell, Tasmania. It was so confined it couldn't get out again. In fact the driver must have got an earful as it's PARKED inside a Politician's Office.
TFTC and cheers
