Some background information

Charles Kemp purchased the land in the late 1920s just before the Great Depression. He started a dairy farm and planted citrus trees (his father William Kemp was a local orchardist). The wetlands behind the levee bank were drained and vegetable crops were grown. In 1998, Athol Kemp, son of Charles Kemp, subdivided the property. Most of the land, including a large tract of bushland, was transferred to Council ownership as a public reserve while 20 lots were rezoned for residential development. The family house and gardens dating from the 1950s still remain on the middle ridge overlooking the river. The house has been heavily vandalised since the change-over in ownership and is now in a dilapidated state.

Charles Kemp Reserve has outstanding scenic qualities, varying from steep, rugged topography in the north to undulating hills and gullies in the south. The reserve follows a bend in the Hawkesbury River for approximately 600 metres. The river’s edge ranges from steep alluvial riverbanks to dramatic sandstone cliffs. While the southern portion has been largely cleared and modified for agriculture much of the reserve remains as natural bushland. It has significant natural and Aboriginal archaeological heritage, scenic and biodiversity values. It also offers outstanding opportunities for limited passive and nature-based recreation such as bushwalking.

Set out to get some of the GA's in the area, with much help from the CO's. Is that a surprise to anyone?!

#GA2323 - 09:45; Day two of the Macquarie mayhem cache hunt with Sol de lune and andrewbt. After a big day one with 56 out 59 finds, we were optimistic about another successful day two. A few cold ones, a few logs and a few more claims for the States of the Nation game set the scene for a good night's sleep and a spring in our step as we packed up and hit the trail again today. Hope the CO's are enjoying all the Karma points rolling in as we get through our logs Whistle. Reached our calculated GZ and checked the obvious without success. Spotted another better concealed possibility and enjoyed success. TFTC teamMerlin Very HappyClan Cerberus

Pulled up at GZ and after a short search the cache was in hand. Log signed and cache replaced. It was this point we looked at our goal, but decided they must be a better way, which we duly found. Nice looking house across the here as well.

Thanks for another one TeamMerlin.

After finding the GC Riddle of the Twelve Earthly Branches, I was running early for the International Geocaching Day event at Tizzana Winery. So a quick detour to grab some GCA caches was in order. Completed the two history virtuals in Wilberforce and still time for one more closer to my destination. Took me a couple of goes to figure out this puzzle as I was not too familiar with the method but have used it a number of times since.

Back again today to have a crack at some more new GCA caches but grabbed the nearby GC.com one too. Great to see some new GCA puzzles! Cheers, cache in top condition.

Solved the puzzle then headed for GZ however it wasn't where I was expecting it & felt I had got to the wrong side of the fence. Went back & tried again. That made it a lot easier & it was a quick find from there. Thanks for the puzzle teamMerlin

With a little help from a fellow Geocacher we determined the needed final coordinates. A quick check gave a green light. So I headed off to make a claim. Parked near by and walked a short distance to the cache which was in a hidden location. Signed log and returned as found. Cache container and log in good condition.

saw this one pop up today and it was straight away my target cache.
My initial attempt didn't give me correct co-ords. However my second attempt did.

Now to get a FTF on a mystery (first GA mystery find) (and a hole in one for GeosportZ).

Found a suitable parking spot and took the walk to GZ where a quick find was made. tftc
