Description

"One way to ruin a good walk is to chase a funny little dimpled ball with sticks ill designed for the purpose." - Freddo

There is no need to visit the listed coords although it may help. Playing a round my help as well. But all you really need is the club's website.

A = S34 36.708 E138 50.138
B = S34 36.860 E138 50.301
C = S34 36.195 E138 50.045
D = S34 36.897 E138 50.207
E = S34 36.462 E138 50.165
F = S34 36.402 E138 50.060
G = S34 36.632 E138 50.135

Update 2022: The front nine and back nine seem to have swapped places. Please add or subtract 9 from each of your answers before putting them in the equations below.

The cache is then at S34 (A * 4).0B(C / 2) E138 (D * 6 + E).0(F / 2)(G / 2)

There is a coordinate checker on the right hand side of the page.

Good Luck

Well after many trips to SA and including this mercy dash back home for a sick mum i finally got around to looking at this cache again. I had figured out how to get the information years ago but never got around to solving it. However when i went to solve it something was not right. A couple of messages to CO to find out the golf course layout has changed. Finally had the coordinates solved and while out at sheaok log visiting a friend i came back home a different way and grabbed this cache. It was an easy cache to find as i looked in the first place i expected it to be and was right on the money. Cache was still in good condition. Thanks for the help as i was tired and frustrated dealing with mums illness and thanks for the cache Laighside Legends. I am so happy to get this cache done after many years. Found this cache while caching in the area. TFTC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Early in 2021 I received an invite from GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to join them on a caching trip to the Mega in South Australia. As planning got underway some caches with high Favorite points, very old caches, and the On Your Bike Series were listed as "must-dos"

The trip ended up being 10 days of solid and very enjoyable caching with quite a few highlights. The find count for the trip was around the 950 mark when all GCA, Adventure Lab, and GC caches are included. The high point for finds was a day of 335 finds in the one day, which would have been more, but a sudden storm put the end to caching for the day. No one was interested in getting out of the car to find a cache in a downpour in the dark Smile

We were lucky enough to find Gawler Fort Knox, Dustin's Cache, and my favorite for the trip Barossa High (From 21st of January 2001 with the original log book still in place) all in the one day.

Unfortunately, the caching around the mega was beset by bad weather and the day we had put aside for Mount Gambier was scrapped due to a covid case in Mount Gambier on the previous day, so we avoided the area. We all enjoyed the Fishing series and just managed to get the remaining of these before the light failed for the day.

In the end I managed to completed my D/T grid for the first (and possibly the second time) which was my aim for the year, although some of the D/T combinations were not really achievable in Tasmania without a 3 day overnight bush walk.

I'd had this solved for a while in anticipation. Found with budgietas and stainless steel rat on our Goeventure 2020 trip.

It took a while to locate the information necessary to solve this puzzle. We were pleased when the Coordinate Checker confirmed our solution. Today we went to look for the cache. Accurate coordinates and a familiar style of hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Laighside Legends for the puzzle and cache.

Coming up with the solution to this cache from a written description wasn't so easy, but I got there in the end. Working out the southern end of the course was fairly simple, the rest was a bit hit and miss. Eventually I had enough numbers to try the checker, with G being one of only three possible numbers. I took a punt, and got the congratulations message on first attempt!

With the Summer Scavenger Series nearly half way through, and such awesome weather for caching, we hightailed it up north to grab this, and a few more GCA caches. This one was a quick find in the only place it could be.

As we drove away, we noticed that a lot of other people were out and about enjoying the great weather, but they sure weren't geocaching. They were doing their level best to ruin a good walk.

Thanks Laighside Legends.

The required info still appears on the website. Named "Course Gallery" now - not "Course Tour". There was a news article saying they were going to rearrange the layout of the course a couple months back but it doesn't seem to have changed so the puzzle still works for now.

We weren't searching for the cache today, just a way to solve it.

We've been searching for the info on the SCGC website but keep getting the same 404 error on the link that I'm sure would contain the elusive course overview that we'd need to solve the puzzle. Why have a link on your website that leads to a non-existant page?

Error reads:

"404

The page /cms/golf/course-tour/ could not be located on this website. We recommend using the navigation bar to get back on track within our site. If you feel you have reached this page in error, please contact a site operator. Thank you!"

Anyhow, today we were in the area, so decided to have a nosey and see if there was a nice big map of the course or something, but there was no help there either. We did consider going into the pro shop and asking for a pamphlet or something, but decided to continue on our tour of the area instead.
