Find the 19th Tee at the Strathfield Golf Club

The 19th Tee at Strathfield Golf Club

Holes 1 to 18 at the Strathfield Golf Club are open to non-members Monday-Friday as long as there are no competitions on. A challenging par 71 course, currently that undertaking would set you back about $50. However, there is a little known 19th Hole that is available all year round, though again only during the day. Access is not available from dusk to dawn. Also, it is completely free! Also known as a "Reverse Hole" the trick is not to smash a small white ball with a stick... but rather find the spot to tee off from and mark the score card!

"Not the 19th Hole"

To do this you will need to lend me a hand. Below is a picture of my card from a round I recently played with some friends. I have recorded my total number of strokes and a running score for both the front and back nines. However, I forgot to enter the number of strokes I played at each hole. I must admit I was hot and cold that day. Some holes my partners laughed me off the course, while at others they accused me of down right cheating! It was just one of those days. Examining my completed card when you are done should lead you to the 19th Tee.

It should be noted that you do not need to enter the official golf course area to get this cache. However, even with the correct coords getting to the tee is a little tricky and may take some exploration. It is not further than a decent 3 wood drive from the course boundary. Good Luck!

Got a push from Tronador to look at this and with help from Nana nel who told me how it works, I came up with a result and go ahead from the checker.
Will look at this one when we are allowed out of our LGA.

Earlier in the day we had looked for Waterbird Passport in Strathfield without success. After visiting several other local government areas we returned to Strathfield to look for the other GA cache. Mr Y'stassies had solved the puzzle some time ago so we were ready to head off to GZ.

Not being locals we did not have a clear idea of how to access the final end point. The locals were not very helpful so we made our way towardsthe final hide cross country. Our first obstacle was a low fence. It was soon crossed. Then came a family of large spiders who had strung their sticky webs between the thin saplings and tall grasses. This meant a chage of direction. With this came several large clumps of enormous stinging nettles. These forced another change of direction.

Finally Mrs Y'stassie spotted the guardian trees - magnificent specimen. She poked aroung a bit and unearthed a little gem.

Thanks for this cache Zalgariath and the pùzzle. This cache had a little bit of everything. Loved the final and the well crafted container - very much in fitting with the cache name and the puzzle.

Solved this one with the plan to get a few caches in the area but in the end this was the only one I found

Rode my trusty steed to as near as I could to the hide and headed in. It was then that the serfs started attacking me with their pitchforks. Finally made it through their defensive ring. As I penetrated the inner realm found some dummy hides. Then the other attack started from the air by the kamikaze jousted. During that fight there was some blood shed on both sides and soon I was looking at the Holy Grail that I sought.

Out caching with ziggiau raiding Rookwood and Homebush for States of the Nation points. This was find 5 of 11 for the day.
I’ve had the coordinates for this one for a while and today was in the area looking for some good States of the Nation points. Ziggiau found the best way to this cache and after a short bush bash we found ourselves at GZ with lots of options for a hide. The clue narrowed things down and soon the impressive cache was found. Clever! Couldn’t spot any golfers today but plenty of wayward golf balls, how do they possibly end up here!?!
Thanks for a clever puzzle and hide Zalgariath, some more points for NSW!

With the assistance of the folks at one of the Sutherland puzzle solving nights, I was told how to nut my way through this challenge. Left to my own skill set this would remain one of those caches that would forever elude me. Nessell, the clever cookie, had also got the results sorted, so after we’d finished Tronador’s Rookwood caches we decided to give this one a go. Parked nearby in Therry St (this dude has so many things named after him, he keeps popping up everywhere) and walked to the low fence. We knew we had to cross it and found the easiest route. Looked for some less bushy paths to GZ and when we started finding random stray golf balls, we knew we were in the right spot. How did they get soooo far off track? Nessell came up with the goods while I collected golf balls. Thanks Zal.

This was my target cache for today. Spending a little time at home a couple of days ago. My first attempt didn't work but I realised the error of my way, working through the puzzle a second time I had a green light with my figures. Catching the train from Windsor to Lidcombe then a walk to my calculated GZ. I approached from the right angle and made a quick easy find.

Usually expected the 19th tee to be a watering hole, none found in the vicinity of this tee.

This cache filled a spot in my 3x3 D/T grid leaving one spot to go. It also satisfied another dragonzone cached in leaving one more to go to gather a new trophy

Played golf at my then local club before finding geocaching...and that was that.....

Worked out we were coming up here a few days ago so set about solving a few puzzles...this one included. A bit of knowledge and the GZ was sorted.....and with a previous finder with me, it turned out to be a bit easier getting to GZ.

Thanks Zal.....neat puzzle...and of course we still met a few 'farmers friends' on the way in, but avoided them on the way out.

#GA1214 - 14:00; Solved this one the night before I was headed to Sydney, hoping I might get a chance for the find while I was up there. Dropped the geohoney off for some retail therapy and headed over to try my luck. Found a convenient park, then made my way tentatively to GZ, where I managed a fairly quick find. Nice set up! Log signed and cache replaced, I was on my way. TFTC Zalgariath Very HappyClan Cerberus

And thanks to a birthday party in Gladesville which brought us past Strathfield I can now say that I'm the proud logger of this cache. What a story...

First I thought it would be easy after figuring out how The Longest Game was done, but that was a big drama. I spend two weekends on staring at a piece of A4 with numbers and the map trying to find something which made sense. It wasn't until a vital clue on golf scoring by phlphotos was given that I realized where I went wrong and how to get to GZ.

I tried to take the normal road but that one was locked, so I parked the car at the Russian(?) section of the cemetery and approached it from there. I was not stopped by the fence nor by the flies, although I could do without them.

Excellent container and a TFTC!

I was given this one as an example for "I wouldn't mind being helped out during your puzzle night", and I myself was stumped big time. I got a crash course in golf-scoring by phlphotos which helped me out here. At the end I had two pieces of A4 with lots of numbers and combinations and doodling Smile

Solved this not long after it was released but didn’t get avchance to come look for it. Then I misplaced my solution so had to solve it again. So 2 of the 4 on the checker are mine, well they do say to double check your card before signing. So I was is the area today and had a chance at this one just before sunset. It took a little while to work out where I needed to be to start the search for the 19th hole. By the time I finished my round I needed the drink but they said they were dry & close to closing time. Instead they gave me the log to sign. That being done I replaced as received and returned for the longest drive home. Thank for the puzzle cache Zalgariath

Yeah FTF. I loved this little puzzle. Not a great golfer but have played enough to understand how the scoring works. After another late night puzzle solving session, the coords revealed themselves, confirmed by the checker. When I saw the location of the 19th hole I knew exactly where I'd be able to access this. I arrived in the general vicinity and it was quiet, with a lone muggle engrossed in something else, to bother with me. I slipped away unseen and made my way to GZ. Found the item in the hint immediately and uncovered a very cute little cache. Well done. I took a shorter way back to the car hoping the muggle had left but he was still engrossed and didn't see me amble by. Great little puzzle and a creative hide.

Clan Phoenix Fore! Hopefully the puzzle doesn't take you too long. Finding GZ can be tricky so don't be afraid to explore. Clan Phoenix
