Description

A kayak only cache on the beautiful Middle Harbour

Yeoland Paddle

Middle Harbour is a wonderful place to explore by kayak. There are many great spots to visit and now there are a number of GCA and GC caches to keep you occupied. While some are available with a bit of effort on foot, this cache (as far as I am aware) is only accessible via the water. Landing can be tricky here at high tide, so watch the oyster beds. Welcome to Yeoland Point. Just across the river is Flat Rock Beach. I stopped there for lunch and it is a lovely spot, though part of Garigal National Park so this location with a view of the beach across the water was better for a cache.

The cache is hidden well above the high tide mark. Due to the size of this cache it shouldn't be too hard to find as your options are limited. Foot terrain is about a 1.5-2 depending on your approach. Good luck!

Did you know that NSW has a geocaching association? Geocaching NSW aims to enhance and improve the activity of geocaching and holds regular events where geocachers meet to enjoy their common interests. Visit the association website here.

Stopped to try and find this one as the first of three caches on a paddle out from Seaforth today. Avoiding the oysters on shore and then a short scramble to some higher ground to find the cache. In great condition and dry inside even after many years of not being found. Thanks Zalgariath for putting out these caches in Middle Harbour.

An almost perfect afternoon to be out and about scavenging; warm but overcast. I spent quite a while looking unsuccessfully for
this long-term sleeper and then consulted Canary's log and tronador's pic. I moved a few metres west, then a few more, then a few more more. A candidate came into view and there it was, a genuiely large box in perfect condition that I awoke from its beauty sleep. It was only then that I realised how long it had slept, not just 3 months but that plus a year, many more than 120 days by any measure. Thanks Zal.

8000 Combined Finds!!!

My first long paddle with bikerbuddy and Toriaz. But, I had the company of my youngest son and a group of intrepid follow cachers.

I was pleased that I turned this one up for my milestone!

Found a few metres west of the given coordinates in a spot that matched the hint.

Found during a very enjoyable GC NSW event "The Spit Reserve - That's a Paddlin". This was our fourth stop for the day and after spending a bit too long searching in the wrong area, Team Canary found the cache hidden in a spot more in keeping with the hint.

A great morning for geocaching and getting together with other geocachers. We hired a kayak from the Spit and headed north with the GCNSW eventers.

This was the first geocache on our return trip south. Some of us went searching and some secured the vessels. A few rocky moments as the wash from a passing boat bounced the waiting kayaks around. Team Canary made the find here. Well done. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

First cache of the day. I launched the kayak from the Roseville Boat Ramp. A beautiful spot on its own. The paddle to Yeoland on this fine sunny Sunday was just less than 1.5 km. Piece of cake. I'd never paddled on Middle Harbour and this was another one of Sydney's hidden gems. What a beautiful waterway. Quite busy with watercraft but easy enough to navigate across the channel. A boat was anchored nearby but as usual no one pays a kayaker any notice when they beach nearby. Not long after I found a rather large ammo can. Nice hide. But I found the coords to be out by about 15 m. Try the coords I took if you get stuck.
This is a magical spot, made special by a beautiful paddle. Thanks for adding another quality cache. Oh and a FTF.
