Description

A last minute hide for GeoSportz 2016 #32

A camouflaged black bison tube is hidden in this park not far from the Basketmakers of Victoria cottage.  Use stealth as muggles can see you from multiple directions, and care as GZ could be the perfect home for scaly slithering creatures in warmer weather (although I've never seen a snake here).

No luck hunting around in the dark tonight. Might be worth another look in daylight Sad

In town for a few days with LuckyL10n and spent a few hours tonight out and about trying a few caches. Arrived at this one around 8.00pm and started the search. The hint gave us an idea of what we may be looking, but unfortunately, it was no cigar for us. Might have to come back in the daylight....

Thanks anyway quiet1_au...hopefully next time...

We are currently touring Victoria with our geovan in tow, using geocaching as a guide. We have visited many amazing locations through geocaching and your cache - Last Minute Hide - was one we found along the way.

Many thanks Quiet1_Au for publishing this cache for our enjoyment and adding to our geocaching experience. Searched a couple of likely spots before the cache revealed itself - cache and contents were iin good condition.

I too had been to this tree once or twice before, but this time it took quite a bit of hunting around to finally spy something artificial. My first GCA in quite a while.

Thanks for the hunt quiet1_au.

I happened to finish up with my patients quite early and was able to sneak in a trip to Wattle Park for two more scavenges. This one was first up and it earned me a ticking off. I parked at the nearby cottage in what appeared to be an open-gate, asphalted area begging for cars to park there and no signs saying it was for authorised vehicles only. Parks Victoria's grumpy man says no. Grumpy no matter how much I apologised. If I'd had my big girl boots on, I'd have pointed out the lack of signage but my high horse was off chewing grass.

Either way, I found the cache on my second attempt - I navigated to the coordinates well despite being quite light-headed from the heat, and delved into the long grass bravely. A circumnavigation yielded nothing, the hint confuddled me and then the app decided to stop working. Restart the phone......try again.....read previous logs and oh, look there!! Now the hint makes sense, as obscure as it may be. TFTC quiet1au; a cute cache. Clan Phoenix

A last minute find on the walk back to the GeoPrado.
Completing my circuit of Wattle Park this morning brought me to GZ.
After nearly getting bowled over by countless joggers on the other side of the park this was very quiet one to find.
No muggles nearby and not much wildlife either. A couple of magpies but thankfully they weren't interested in swooping me.
As I chose the best angle of attack the cache was spied on approach. Sometimes you just get lucky.
Thanks for the cache QUIET1AU - a fitting end to a most enjoyable morning.

I was out this way on a Munzee hunt so dropped by here for a look. I was a bit worried given the haystack potential of GZ but thankfully I had the stash in hand quite quickly at 14:10.

TNLNSL. Thanks quiet1_au.

last minute find Smile I have been to this tree for a few gnomes before so this wasn't a challenge to locate the area, but the cache was a little trickier as it was hidden quite well in ins hidey hole. Nicely done for a last minute hide. This cache concluded our finding for the day so we headed back towards home.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks quiet1_au for both the caches and for participating in the game.

I had a little free time after dropping off my eldest at cricket training so I headed across for a walk. Along the way I stopped to pick up this cache. I searched around for a few minutes before I looked from the right angle.
Thanks quiet1_au for the cache. Clan Cerberus

Today I enjoyed a walk around Wattle Park with a mixture of GC and GCA caches. Not remembering that there was a golf course nearby I nearly wandered onto the fairway as I walked from the nearby Lily Pond. The cache was found after some careful searching. I am glad that it is winter but I still looked out for slithering creatures. Thank you quiet1_au for providing me with some exercise in the sunshine today.

We were returning to Melbourne to catch the ferry home after visiting our former neighbours, who have moved to the Mornington Peninsula and had a little time on our hands so we looked up the recently published GA caches and decided to see how many we could find before we had to board. This was the first on our list.
We enjoyed the walk from the car park to GZ where we quickly located a well hidden cache.
Cache and contents were in very good condition.
Thanks for the cache Quiet1_AU

Haven't had much time for Geo Sportz this time around as I've been focused on my GC goals recently.
I noticed a new GCA cache on the map here, and what do you know? I get an invite to play golf here today!
Weather was fine - which was somewhat better than my golf!
Popped down to GZ straight after the round but found it to be a struggle. So many possibilities...
Meanwhile the colourful winged cache guardians were creating quite a commotion at my presence.
I consulted the clue which seemed helpful, but it still took me another 15min to find, lol.
Oh, and i did find 2 golf balls in the undergrowth, so that was a bonus!

Thanks, quiet1_au, for a nice challenge set in a forgotten corner of my local course.
Well played!

Ftf. The Co warned me this was coming but I was on the other side of Melbourne looking for another cache. Needing the FTF for the geosportz I set out for this cache. It was a long slow drive with pouring rain. Eventually I got to the park and it was dark, but the rain had eased. I walked to Gz and at first thought the cache was behind a fence. Going around I got to the spot and then had a look around. After a short hunt I spotted something unusual and found the well hidden cache. Thanks Quiet1_au
