Description

A cache hide for the 2016-2017 Summer Scavenger Series

Are you up and ready for the 2016-2017 Summer Scavenger Series?   If so, then this cache is for you.   I'm hopeful that you already know about the Summer game for this year, but if not, please check it out here.     http://geocaching.com.au/dragonzone/game/scavenger2016

As for the hide, you should be looking under the south bound carriageway and up behind one of the support pylons.....which one, well you can problaby have a couple of guesses.

A torch will certainly help as its a bit dark in there.

I'm in Melbourne at least twice a year and can maintain it if/when requried.......and one my family can check on it as well)

(See, sometimes I can help my caching friends down in Melbourne.)

Today we started caching in the area and this was one of 21 caches we found.

Cache and contents are in good condition.

Many thanks Sol de lune for placing this cache, we enjoyed our wander around the area.

In the area today and stopped by to check the cache out. Found it sitting where I placed almost 3 years, still in good condition and just waiting for more finders. Dancing

So if you're in the area, stop by and give it a go...there are lots of others to try now as well. Very HappyVery Happy

I had a little trouble getting the GPS to settle at gz so it took a couple of minutes searching to locate. Happily there were no muggles about as I would have been hard pressed to explain what I was up to.
Thanks Sol de lune for the cache.

A definite change in scenery as I swapped the Freeway trail for the lakeside paths of Caroline Springs. Not to mention caching in the dark once again.

Great to see that most were still there and in great nick after lying dormant for a year and a half.
-----
The cooler weather this weekend made today perfect for a bike ride. With a stiff southerly blowing, I decided that I'd tackle the lower reaches of the Kororoit Creek with the wind at my tail, rather than the tougher option... then enjoy a non-stop jaunt alongside the Ring Road and Western Freeway to where I left off last week.

It was certainly quite different this time around: express rather than stopping all stations (caches), then, once I'd made it to the vicinity of the prison, a cool, and occasionally damp evening compared to the balmy weather of late.

By the time I reached the middle of Caroline Springs, there were nearly a dozen and a half more smileys, with only a few I couldn't locate, and finds on some caches that had been dormant for a year and a half. Oh, and both my phone and GPSr were running on fumes when I finally got on a train. All in all, a good evening expedition.

Many thanks, Sol de lune.

Having spent the night in Parkville we had a later start intending to avoid the heavy early morning traffic. We had no trouble negotiating our way to this cache and were pleased to find no road works between us and our destination.

When we arrived in the general area we debated as to whether we needed to be up or down. As is usual in such situations one of us went up while the other went down. The team member who was down then had to decide whether she went up. After surveying the area it was decided a scramble up was in order. After ducking and peering into all the recesses passed a possible cover was spotted and there underneath was a cache container. Cache and contents were in good condition.

On emerging from the hide area the finder realised no "Got it " message had been sent so the other team member was still wandering in circles. Fortunately there was no one in the area to witness the odd behaviour of our team.

Thanks for the cache Sol de Lune. An excellent hide that is unlikely to be found by accident.

I was in the area today picking up smileys.

This was one of a number I managed to find.

I made alot harder work of it than needed.

Got there in the end.

Cache is all good condition wise.

Found this cache with Caughtatwork and mummy after dinner. Many places it could've been but finally and quickly it was found.

I headed out on this warm evening to find this cache for my Difficulty 2 find.
GabGab, Lady caughtatwork and I headed out with us under the bridge and looking in all the wrong places. Given it's a D2 I suspected where it might be, but I still ended up checking too many Smile Finally the cache was in hand and some more Summer Scavenger Series points head towards Griffin.
Thanks for this cache here today Sol de lune. There aren't many around that aren't mine, so it was very pleasant to head out and find a GCA cache not of my own doing.

**Date: 10 December 2016 Time: 12:47 PM GCA Find #342**

I was over the other side of town for a family Christmas party, so I decided to leave home super early and find some GCA caches as well as going for a bit of a walk around the Caroline Springs wetlands.

Was starting to run late for the party, but.... Just 1 more Razz

**Thanks to Sol De Lune for the cache. TNLN**

Not that I'm into that sort of thing, but FTF for me Smile
We were heading this way to visit my parents in Ballan, so Seeka and I decided to stop, despite having in appropriate caching shoes and dress on.
