Description

The Molonglo River Cottage Ruins - known as the Molonglo Rivercottage Ruins.

After finding the Molonglo River Reserve cache, you can follow the Woodland Walking Trail up to these ruins.    There are a few items remaining at the site, including the fire place and other stone/brick work.     A member of the Blundell family, along his wife and children lived here for many years.   The full history of the area can be read on the nearby information board....so come out and find out a little more on some of the areas first settlers.

From here, there is one more cache (at this stage) further along the trail........Ancient Giants.

I had one batch of caches along the Molonglo river in Coombs left to do today. The track took me to the first two, then it was cross country to a cliff for a great view. I could have returned to the track, but instead I went down to the river and up to the lookout for my next cache. from there I checked out the dam and the map of the trails before heeding into the suburb to get my last cache of the morning.

Thanks.

This one was a bit tricky to spot with the grass growing around it. All OK inside.

Thanks,

Maybe my GPS was playing up but unable to find, even with the clue. Still interesting reading about the history of the place.

GCA 2,286. Found while walking the track grabbing a bunch of GC Caches.

An area worthy of a cache. Quick find. Nice bit of history here.

Dino and I did the woodland trak today for the new cache out at the end, had to rush past on the way in for the FTF hunt but on the way back out we took our time and appreciated the extra caches to be found. Thank you very much for the cache SDL

#GA2212 - 13:25; After a wet start this morning, I thought I might not get out today to fill the hole in the dZ calendar. Luckily things cleared up nicely, so after lunch I headed out and went for a stroll sort of along the river to collect this now replaced cache. As I closed in on GZ, I spotted a possible hide and was rewarded with a quick find once I got there. Signed the new log sheet and headed on my way. Bring on the games! Well, that turned out to be longer than it should have. Apologies, but I just forget to check it out.

The area has been cleaned up a little with certain trees gone and new ones planted. Should look good when they finish the trail.

Cache as been moved away from the trees and is now as per the updated hint. Shouldn't been an issue to find.

Cache on....

An easy grab on a sultry afternoon walk. I kept expecting the rain to come but there was only a dozen drops in the whole walk.

Thanks for the caches Sdl, a nice little run.

Chooo ooo *FTF* on a thundery, hot, but dry walk along this trail. Well there were 4 fat raindrops at one stage, but that was about it... Haven't been to this part of the track before. An interesting spot! Thanks for the cache SDL.
