Description

A mystery cache placed for the Summer Scavenger Series (SSS) game of 2016/2017

This mystery cache is placed on Springbank Island and IS NOT at the posted co-ords.   To find the required co-ords, simply find the answers to these couple of questions about the Island.   The cache can then be found at S35 17.AB2   E149 06.CD2.    Use the co-ord checker on the right to confirm your GZ.....

Right then, on to the questions......

Springbank Island can be found in the East Basin of Lake Burley Griffin.    If yes, then A = 0, if no, then A = 4

Springbank Island is adjacent to the Canberra suburb of Acton.    If yes, then B = 1, if not, then B = 9

Overnight camping is allowed on Springbank Island.    If yes, then C = 3, if no, then C = 7

Springbank Island is named after the property that was partly submerged when Lake Burley Griffin was created.    If yes, then D = 4, if no, then D = 8

Hope you enjoy your visit to the island.....and you paddle across to it......

Found today on a paddle out to Springbank Island

Found a few caches on this island today.

This one wasn't in a great way - Don't think these sistemas hold out the water as well as the other types you find - As evidenced by LL's cache nearby.

Replaced cache and logbook. I'll dry both out and get back to CO

TFTC SDL - one i've been longing to obtain for a while

Day 9 Mega Road trip
A Tassie contingent plus a Queenslander set off in a hired boat to plunder the spoils of Springbank Island and this was one we found. Nice to turn the solved puzle into a smiley. A great morning was had by all. TFTV

We hired a boat from go(slow)boat with a total of 8 teams, 7 from Tasmania and 1 from Queensland. We eventually got to the island in a little under an hour, willing the little boat to go faster and wishing we could paddle too. We enjoyed all the finds out here on the lake today. The weather was superb and the company was pretty good too. I'm just wishing I'd booked an afternoon time slot and we had brought along plenty of wine and cheese. thanks SDL.

Found with StrangeTrousers following today's event to the island. It was hard work against the wind today getting to the island and I am just glad I didn't fall in the lake. The cache was very wet and log book soaked - sorry I didn't bring any spare containers or even paper/log book. Took a photo as evidence of find as couldn't write in soaked LB. Maybe the next finder can replace for you. Thanks for the puzzle and the hide. Very Happy

As someone who has done quite a lot of kayaking and canoeing with the scouts/venturers, the two new water caches were definitely on my agenda! After solving the two new puzzles and borrowing some kayaking equipment, I paddled from Acton to the docking spot within 5min, where it was a short walk over to GZ for a reasonably quick find - it took a while for the GPS to settle though, so it probably took longer than necessary. Nicely sized container at a very beautiful spot at the lake - TFTC SdL! Clan Cerberus

With the kayak still on the roof racks from an earlier LBG excursion, some quick research and I was back on the water again. A different launching point this time but equally as nice to be back on the water again. A nice calm paddle and then a short dash across terra firma and the goods were soon found and as a bonus, a *FTF* for my efforts.
The grass over here seems to be moved better and or more often than around some Canberra suburbs. Go figure!
Thanks Sdl for a very enjoyable cache and who doesn't like a bit of history too!
