Logs
I went for a drive to explore the Armidale area a little more with my daughter & she loved climbing on the boulders here. Nice place to pull over & there are picnic tables & toilet.
So I've found my first GCA cache. This one has survived the winter unscathed, but it was almost apocalyptic this afternoon when I picked it up. The sky was slate grey & the winds were high - the bag the log was in almost blew across the highway! There was other rubbish on the roadside that my daughter & I picked up before we left. I'll get it back on the road in the next couple of days
Officially it's the first day of winter but here on the Northern Tablelands winter starts anytime after ANZAC day so Seeka Oddie was doomed to be put out in the wild during freezing weather. It could have been worse, he could have been up the road at Glen Innes which had the coldest night in Australia the previous night. Seeka's in a rest area big enough for all size vehicles. He's quite close to the highway but there's no need to put any body parts past the guard rail.
Seeka Oddie was one of six picked up in Tamworth today. Gotta love it when moveable bearing GCA cachers pass through... TFTM rogerw3.

Oddie is lying low in Wilfred Taylor Reserve, awaiting the next finder.
Returning home from Port Wakefield today, we decided to take the small detour to grab this cache. A nice quick find behind some very sparkly rocks.
We will take Seeka Oddie back to J & J Central for a week or two before hiding it somewhere new soon.
Thanks rogerw3.

Seeka Oddie was ready to start its tour of South Australia so dropped off into the park at an early cacher meet up
When we were planning our mainland trip we noticed that there appeared to be ten GA moveable caches that we had not found hidden along the Murray River not far from the highway. They had to be added to our lists. We had hoped to collect them yesterday but time was not on our side. This meant that we had a little back tracking to do at the start of the day.
As we turned off the main road we were pleased to see that the track leading to the river was dry. We felt our 2WD, low clearance street car would be able to manage this. We were about a third of the way to the first group when the track deteriorated and we found ourselves straddling some deep ruts the result of 4WD in the wet. Slowly and carefully we made our way towards the hide. We were able to park within 25m of the hide.
Accurate coordinates led us to the well hidden swag which, to our surprise, was a supermarket bag that was well tied up. We had no time to check all the moveable so grabbed the lot and stashed the bag, moveables and all in the car. It was then a slow trip back to the junction and down the next track to the next gathering or what turned out to be an equably daunting trip to the next hide where we found another bag of caches. We then headed back to the junction with the third track and a third group of caches.
We saw some awesome camping spots by the river on our way in and out and were glad to make it out with out any damage to the car apart from a very thick layer of dust.
After a very full day we spent the evening sorting the moveables and now to log them. Seeka Oddie was also eager to get out of his plastic prison and wanted to stay out in the sun
We will take this one for a short trip before releasing him in time for the Ides of March.

Saw this one (and a mate) hit the streets near home and headed to make the grab. Cold old days in Canberra at the moment so no problems with the cache still being there. Soon had them both in hand all was good.
Thanks RogerW3...will move on shortly.

Moved. Coordinates taken with Google maps and a phone with terrible GPS. Fairly easy to find with hint.
ooooooh - look what I found heading back to my accommodation. picked this little puppy up and will take him for walk somewhere. I'm sure there is a nice view out there somewhere but it's way too dark to see anything but ship and city lights.
