Description

Have you climbed a mountain and thought "there ought to be a trig up here"?

After a long hard hike, usually also a steep and scrambly climb you get to the top of a mountain, often the views are great (or else there's so much scrub you can't see a thing!) but nobody ever thought a trig was warranted! This cache is to reward you for your efforts.

The requirements are that your mountain must be named as such on a map and must require a terrain hike of 3 or more to get there ie off trail; requires some risk of getting scratched, wet, or winded. Take note of the co-ordinates and take a photo of yourself and any views then log your find, note the map your maountin is shown on and describe the trip to get to this "should be a trig" location.

Each mountain can be logged multiple times by different finders and each finder can log this cache multiple times as long as it's for different mountains.

Generally known as the Center of the Universe pagoda with a 360 degree view to the horizon, there really should be a trig on this rock!

We climbed to the top of Mt Neembeeba and took this photo from the lookout

a rocky outcrop at the top of Mt Gnomon.

The trail is approximately 1 hour return, with some steep and slippery sections.

View is limited at the top due to tree growth but still definitely worth the climb.

Shame there isnt a trig up here after the effort to climb up to the peak.

We started the hike up Coronet Peak in NZ for a GC trad newly published. The climb was 475 vertical metres, 1.3km directly - it took us 2.5km to get there. All the way I was thinking - 'I'm logging that 'there should be a trig on this mountain' locationless'.... what do we find when we get there though?? An unpublished trig! Of course it is unpublished no more... Smile https://geocaching.com.au/cache/tp13681

Mount Bartle Frere, Queensland’s highest point.

I recently hiked to the highest point in Queensland. There was a survey mark and a summit mark but no Trig. A Trig would have been a nice reward after a gruelling hike but it was nice to find the summit marker. It registers an Australian Height Datum (AHD) of 1611m. Thanks for the cache Smile

Sure do. each time I walk past! There's a survey marker, but no trig

(But I can see a trig a few km away, maybe that's why!)

Mount Blaine, S-E Qld (near Peak Crossing).

What a view! Getting up was a nice challenge - it's a Grade 4 track with lots of loose scree underfoot. Some very narrow sections with a steep drop. Well worth the effort tho' when you get to the top. We thought there should've been a trig up here. Very Happy

Thanks for this cache Blossom

Boat Mountain near Murgon in the South Burnett region of Queensland.

Have you climbed a mountain and thought "there ought to be a trig up here" YES

The requirements are that your mountain must be named as such on a map:- Boat Mountain.

Must require a terrain hike of 3 or more to get there. From the car park over 160 steep steps to climb then follow the little used trail being smacked about by low branches and walking into numerous spider webbs.

requires some risk of getting scratched: Definitely, Winded, Definitely after the ascent up the steps.
Photos attached but the selfie did not turn out so I will go for the walk again and place the photo then.

We headed along Berghoffers Pass, braved the traffic which was quite sparse luckily and crossed the GWH and up the emergency truckstop ramp. Then it was just finding our way along the ridgetops to Mt Sugarloaf where the views are amazing. Back the same way for a 12km hike.
