Description

2016/17 Summer Scavenger Series cache

When you first start out geocaching you tend to grab all of the traditionals in your immediate area, then work on the slightly harder multis, before your left with a mine field of blue dots or question marks. Mystery caches come in a variety of flavours from the very simple to the mind numbing complex. This entry level mystery cache is targeted at the newbie cacher and reinforces the first rule of solving mystery caches. More experienced geocachers will have already worked this out by now, but if you are still unsure, all of the information to solve this mystery has been posted on the page. The needed coordinates are in plain view, but a checker has been provided as a confidence check.

You are looking for a 1 litre sistema container.

Set out to get some of the GA's in the area, with much help from the CO's. Is that a surprise to anyone?!

a great and sunny day to get out and do a bit of exploring somewhere new Soph and I went a round about way to get to town and bagged 3 trigs and a mystery today. This one was pretty easy to get to along the power trail and we were able to drive right up to it, track was a bit muddy with some deepish muddy holes so would recommend walking in here if you don't have a 4wd. a nice short walk into here from where we parked next to the trig. Cache is still in perfect condition. tftc

Our mission today was to collect some trigs. But we couldn’t come so close to this cashe and not find it. So we dialed in the cords and once we had finished shed admiring the nearby trig. We soon had the find in hand!! Not sure if it was a fire or a reduction burn that has been through here. But good to know that the geochache was safely tucked away in its hiding spot and survived!

Well I call this 2 for the price of one visit – 2 for the $ of 1 visit. Completed the trig and did the short walk to this Unknown or Mystery cache. Found cache out in the open near hiding spot, so once I did the signing duties I replaced in what the hint describes and covered.
Also, today I wanted to find this Unknown or Mystery -cache for the Journey or Destination - Game Period: 01-Dec-2018 00:00:00 to 31-Jan-2019 23:59:59 AEST
It is sometimes said [citation needed] that the game of geocaching is not about the destination it is about the journey. This game is about the choices you make in the experience of the journey or the destination.
On your entry to the game you will be asked to create a playing field with a number of ground tiles. Your playing field is a grid 20 x 20 ground tiles making a total number of 400 possible steps you can take on your journey or destination. You choose whether you want to find and follow the path or whether you wanted to meander around. A playing field is unique to each player so there is no benefit in teaming up to beat the system through brute force.
For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a ground tile and reveal what lies beneath. There are a number of different ground tiles that will be revealed when you click on your playing field. It should be noted that there are no punishments for clicking a tile but there will not always be the reward you were hoping for as you reveal each tile.
1.Dirt. The ground beneath the ground tile is just plain old brown dirt.
2.Dirt with some points. The ground beneath the tile is brown dirt but it has some points associated with it.
3.Concrete. The ground beneath is part of the pathway that will lead you on your way to your destination but has no point value.
4.Start. A concrete ground tile that has a blue map marker.
5.Destination. A ground tile that has a green map marker.
Meandering around and avoiding the path will accumulate points that will be used to place on you the ladder of wanderers. The more you stay off the path the higher the number of points you will accumulate and it will be your journey that will be the determining factor in whether you place into a prize winning position. You are free to select any ground tile to click on; they do not need to be next to each other.
Trying to find the path may mean you strike out on the dirt until you eventually come across the path and as a geocacher who can't say that this isn't a tried and true method. Once you find the path however will you try and follow the path as it changes direction around your playing field? Do you go North, South, East or West to try and find the next concrete tile along the path? If you head one way are you heading towards the start or towards the destination? When you do happen upon the destination tile then you will automatically be in a winning position.
At any point you are free to change from the journey to the destination and vice versa but you won't be able to regenerate your playing field. You are also free to keep playing as long as you have qualifying geocaches, accumulating more and more dirt tile points and placing you higher and higher on the ladder.
Qualifying geocaches fall into two categories. Finds and Hides.
A qualifying find is a geocache that meets the following criteria:
The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia
The geocache has a hidden date prior to the game commencing
The geocache was logged by you on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period
The geocache was physically found by you during the game period
The geocache is not owned by you unless it is a moveable geocache
The geocache has not previously been found by you during the game period
The geocache is one of the following types:
Burke and Wills, Moveable (you will qualify only once for a find on a moveable geocache), Traditional, TrigPoint, Augmented Reality, Beacon, Gadget, Multi-cache, Night Cache, Podcache, Reverse, Unknown or Mystery
A qualifying hide is a geocache that meets the following criteria:
The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia, The geocache has a hidden date after the game has commenced, The geocache was published on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period, The geocache has a container size of regular or larger (Note: A regular geocache has a volume of 1 litre or more), The geocache is one of the following types:, Moveable, Traditional, Augmented Reality, Beacon, Gadget, Multi-cache, Night Cache, Podcache, Reverse, Unknown or Mystery
The game tracking mechanism relies upon your honesty when logging geocaches as found or hidden.
The games administrators will undertake verification of a statistically significant number of logs.
Players who continually log inaccurate information will be disqualified from the game. The game administrators decision is final.
The game administrators will subtract qualifying hide or find geocaches from your tally if they are found to be not genuine.
The game administrators reserve the right to provide clarifications to the rules at any point during the game.
Don't forget to claim your limited time game trophies, if your qualify, while the game is in progress. Once the game completes the ability to claim your trophies is lost for ever.
So, A BIG thanks for the Unknown or Mystery -cache, I really enjoyed it as I’m finding the other Unknown or Mystery caches in the greater area difficult. Must be just me. TFTC / TFTH / SL Clan GriffinClan GriffinClan Griffin

Heading home from Wisemans Ferry after seeing off baby&Mrs Gopher, I had a look to see if there were any GA caches around. This was 5km off the road I was on but decided I would head there anyway. Parked about 200m away and walked to GZ. A quick find. Signed Log and returned as found. TFTC teamMerlin

#GA2334 - 11:40; Day two of the Macquarie mayhem cache hunt with Sol de lune and andrewbt. After a big day one with 56 out 59 finds, we were optimistic about another successful day two. A few cold ones, a few logs and a few more claims for the States of the Nation game set the scene for a good night's sleep and a spring in our step as we packed up and hit the trail again today. Hope the CO's are enjoying all the Karma points rolling in as we get through our logs Whistle. A short ferry ride and we made it across the river before heading on to GZ. Parked the geomobile and headed the final part on foot for a quick find. Now for that trig Dancing TFTC teamMerlin Very HappyClan Cerberus

A mysterious mystery that I took the looong way home to get. "Park and Grab"? Well I parked, walked a ways in the now cooling evening, and grabbed, but with decorum and not in that Trumpish manner. Thanks teamMerlin.

Been looking at this cache for a long time unfound by me. Decided I better try to solve it try this option & then another option but neither seemed to work so tried others but they all seemed to get me no further than where I started. So put it aside.
Picked it up again last night as I thought I would head out this way. Same again no matter what I tried I always ended up back where I started. So decided that while I was out in the area I would wing it and see if it helped me get unstumped.
The good thing was that I found the cache. Signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the puzzle teamMerlin

A big day around Sackville collecting 6xGC and 18xGCA caches.
Puzzle really had me stumped Smile

I've never been across on this particular ferry before, so that was a pretty little trip. I had solved this one, so headed off after the event at the winery to find a few puzzles. Took a while to figure out where the GPS wanted me, but once I had that sorted I soon had CIH.

This is the sort of puzzle I can solve Very Happy And it's between 100m - 200m which is most convenient for the SSS. Go Phoenix! Mr. Green

the second mystery published in this area today, a first to find on the other one and a second to find on this one.
Like the previous finder was happy for the short walk and quick find. with the log signed and cache replaced it was back to the car and A/C, outside temp at 39C

Needing a cache to satisfy the Summer Scavenger Series a mystery cache popped up and it was released right near where we were this morning.
Having a look at this cache it was within my knowledge base to solve so it was back across the ferry before the school pick up to grab it.
Parked the car not far from where we were this morning to grab the Trig. With coordinates in hand walked to GZ and made a quick find under natural camo.
Its extremly hot today lucky this one was a quick park and grab and a bonus FTF to boot.
