The other day while travelling through Hagley i noticed the big sign on the General store i stopped and grabbed a photo for this cache.

This General Store is located in South Arm, Tasmania. A 40 minute drive from Hobart. TFTL

I work om an Island of the coast of Perth home to the famous quokka. Rottnest Island and yes we have a general store which is frequented by thousands of people every week, every year.
It is affectionately known as "The G Store".

The General Store in Walwa NE Victoria. The store provides a take away food service, Limited groceries and News agent services and a limited tourist info service.

The Channon General Store. "The Channon" is the name of the suburb, about halfway in between Lismore and Nimbin , in NSW. Hence the quotes I guess otherwise you could call it The The Channon General Store.

Came by some time ago and remembered this General Store cache, just took me a while to get the cache page and the photo and my memory all in the one place. TFTC and happy trails everyone!

The better known one nearest our place has already been used but today as I was heading to Port Sorell I noticed that the shop on the way there has had a facelift and is now called the Wesley Vale General Store.
It certainly doesn't have the variety of different goods that most general stores have but a find is a find!!

Whilst in Queenscliff to take photos of the lighthouses for Virtual caches, I spotted this store and asked Muggle Hubby to backtrack so I could take a photo of it, as I had this cache in mind.
Who can remember the old general store where you sat on a chair at the counter, nibbling on free broken biscuits, as the storekeeper collected all the items that your mother had written on the list, packed them in your basket, and tallied up the price on the docket, with his pencil which normally sat on his ear?
Nowadays you are not only expected to find your own items on the shelves, put them through the self serve checkout and pack them yourself.
If the checkout machine is out of order nobody even knows how to add up prices.

This is the general store at Condong, NSW just north of Murwillumbah. As you might be able to see from the sign it was established in 1901. Its just opposite the sugar mill and is the only retail business in town. It sells the usual drinks, ice-creams, ice, and a small amount of packaged foods. Its also the post office for the town with both a post box for sending mail plus post boxes for receiving mail. It also has a public phone box - somewhat a rarety these days. Condong has good mobile reception so it would be interesting to know how much use it gets.

We didn't go in today but we have been there in the past they 'do' coffee and have pretty good lamingtons, but apart from pies in the warmer that is about the extent of their instant food selection. If you want something more you might have to head down to the bowls club.

In my travels yesterday I happened upon the Sidmouth General Store. Like most general stores they cover all bases and service both locals and tourists. Oh, and their Vanilla Slice was awesome. Thanks THEMD for organising the locationless cache.

We were recently at the Alexandra event and took the time to locate geocaches in and around the surrounding areas. We stopped by the Thornton General store for a cache and to take some photos. Not many old General Stores around any more. TFTC

Younghusband General Store
Located on the Murray River, the Younghusband General Store sells a lot of things but a young husband isn't one of them. Well, not that we know of but then we didn't ask either. Thought there had to be a good story behind the naming of this place but it turns out to be nothing romantic or risqué. Google says it was named after William Younghusband, a merchant and politician. Anyway, a lovely spot to relax with fish and chips after a day kayaking on the river.

In June 2014, Dunsborough said goodbye to their General Store, which some have called the heart of the South West, for over 90 years. The site remained vacant for a period of a few months and then, miraculously, a pair of young entrepreneurs decided to revive the General Store concept and the Merchant & Maker was born. The idea was to bring a more modern design to the General Store, while maintaining the old school vibe.
I can't get some of the random things I used to get at the old store and everything's more expensive now, but you can still get the basic conveniences like bread and milk.
In short, it's still the old store, in general.

Goodger General Store is on the Kingaroy Cooyar Road in South East Queensland. The store was on the rail line that used to go to Tarong and was mainly a line used for produce and to clooect milk to take back to the Dairy in Kingaroy. TFTL THEMD

I haven't really gotten into this year's summer series, but the new notifications have been rolling in via email and there were a few that I knew wouldn't be too difficult to do. Whilst in Mildura I have been keeping an eye out for a general store as I was sure I had seen one in the district previously. Spotted a corner store earlier today, but then late in the day drove past Dave's General Store on San Mateo Avenue on my way to a cache. Decided to leave this one until my way home as I would then be on the correct side of the road, pulled up, took my photo and ended up having to explain to the owner that I was on a special scavenger hunt as he was outside having a smoke!

It is always a bonus when looking for one cache you come across another which was the case when we found a general store. Very busy here today.

Among our finds in Sheffield today was the Sheffield General Store. It carries a very wide range of items and appears stacked to the ceiling in places. It also advertises a room for private functions!!. A photo of the front of the Sheffield General Store, with Mrs y'stassie outside, has been added to the Gallery. Thanks Themd for the cache.

Durong South General Store
Durong South, QLD

I was on my way to Mundubbera when I stopped here for a break.

It is the only store in this remote location which features the store, a tiny church, a part time government service centre & a trucking company. The store sells fuel, oils, ice, bait, stock feeds, newspapers, groceries, frozen vegetables, meats & has a cafe. I ordered a flat white in a mug & slice of cake. The mug was twice the size of its city counterparts. I was also given a newspaper free of charge.

*FTF* The General Store in Wollombi. We had a lovely weekend camping up there. Its a beautiful little village with a great pub (free camping out the back)
