Description

Traditionally Easy [SSS]

The Summer Scavenger Series suggests that we hide a traditional geocache to gain some points for our clan. (Go, Go, Griffin Gold!)

This geocache is a 1 litre sistema container painted completely inappropriately to hide it, but the hide is well hidden so maybe the hide colour doesn't detract from the hide.

The sound barrier wall will play havoc with your GPS as it blocks the southern sky and make it look like you're not where you are. The co-ordinates, if they're over the wall, aren't and if they're too far from the wall, aren't. There aren't too many places at the posted co-odinates to hide a regular sized geocache, but if the GPS is acting up, then please refer to the hint. You should not need to leave the path to find thiis cache, hence the traditionally easy name.

Please combine this geocaches with the other geocaches along the Western Freeway Path which will net you a find and a nice walk too.

Today we cached along the Western Fwy Path and found your cache along the way. Cache and contents were in good condition.

Many thanks caughtatwork for placing this cache.

Looks like Melissa and Lawrence also enjoyed the find... I love it when muggles do the right thing and sign and rehide. Who knows, we might get a couple of new cachers out of it.

I decided to continue exploring the western bike trails... this time the Western Freeway was my target, so I caught the train to Sunshine to ride the last section of the Kororoit Creek before continuing westward.

A fine evening, and a mostly successful hunt (apart from a couple of fruitless scrambles in the bushes), and edging closer to the 10% target I want to maintain.

Thanks, C@W.

This was a great hide. I enjoyed finding this regular sized container. All in good order.

#GA1862 - 10:40; Day two of a caching mission to Victoria with Sol de lune. Our major goal for the week is to complete the SSS and other series along the Western Freeway/Ring Road and to then collect enough GCA caches around Docklands to bring our total finds for the day to 100+ which would build our trophy cabinets a bit more as we complete a few more 'missions'. This was one of 82 finds in just under 6 hours along the various series, where we only had the one DNF! We were now headed east on stage two of the run. Apologies for the mostly generic logs. Back at the next section of series and again it was just a matter of following the GPSr, dropping the bike and grabbing the cache. In most cases it was that simple and we just plodded along cache after cache. I think we were starting to slow as the wind picked up...nothing kills a ride like riding into the wind.

All was good though and unless stated, all caches were found in good condition.

Thanks for this one C@W.....

We had arrived in Melbourne early to catch the Spirit of Tasmania back to Tassie tonight. That gave us the opportunity to look for more caches along the Western Ring Path, ones that we didn't find in April because we ran out of time. We were pleased that the rain of yesterday had gone and, apart from a cold breeze, the walking conditions were very pleasant. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks caughtatwork for the cache and the series.

Almost a bike bye here.

The coast was clear as I picked up the hide.

Signed the log and was soon on my way.
