Description

Mount Wellington Line

Stroll through cool forested gullies along historic walking tracks or traverse Wellington Range in the saddle on horse or mountain bike. Four wheel drive along rough mountain trails, climb leaning dolerite towers, or sit quietly among the birds. Find the perfect place for a picnic or to flip a burger. Mt Wellington is the home to this new geocache.

You are looking for a small 200ml sistema container painted brown hidden in the most logical place at GZ. There is a good hint if you are struggling to find this geocache.

This cache was placed while on holidays from Melbourne and it seemed like a nice areas that did not have enough Geocaching Australia geocaches.

After spending 6 hours walking on the mountain, I was happy to grab this one which is only a few metres away from a GC cache.
The wind started off very cold and strong but slowed down to a breeze by the time I returned from caching around South Wellington, including Smith's Monument.
Thanks for the cachce GabGab!

Came up Mt Wellington today, before the snow arrived. Signed log and replaced. Thanks to GabGab Clapping

A nice short walk from the car and an easy find. Thankfully the snow had melted as this one would have been very hard a couple of weeks ago! TFTC!

a trip to find a GC cache below was planned and this was on the way back an easy find with no muggles in sight, the cloud was coming from the west and wind was right behind it time to get off the mountain, before I froze, TFTC TNLN. a great day caching, even though it was cold.

Having knocked off a longtime DNF down the track a little earlier, I was almost too tired to have a shot at this one. Eventually though, I was able to talk myself into making the 40m or so diversion for a nice quick find at 16:30 (although I confess to having a squiz at the hint before arriving at GZ Embarassed).

TNLNSL. Thanks GabGab.

g'day GabGab, TFTC. Headed up kunanyi early afternoon with the boys. The weather was closing in, constant dwizzle, but light winds and mild temperature, obviously pleasant enough for us locals. Used the hint, but still a bit exposed to the carpark.

Found on our holiday to Hobart. After hopping across the rocks and bushes in the growing heat, it took a couple of minutes before the cache was found - nicely hidden. More beautiful views of the mountains could be found here - absolutely fantastic! TNLNSL. TFTC GabGab! Clan Cerberus

It was a day for doing touristy stuff today as my son has his girlfriend from the mainland visiting. A drive up the mountain was suggested and we headed up early before it became too crowded. When we reached the summit, they headed off to do touristy stuff, whilst I headed off to do geocaching stuff. This cache was the most difficult by far for the day, as a mother and a group of children were playing on a nearby rocky outcrop. I really had to pick my moment to pretend to slightly trip, drop my bag, reach over grab the cache etc, and then subtly sign the log and return everything whilst I appeared to retrieve the contents of my bag. I think I got away with it Anxious Anyway, thanks for the cache, the weather was pretty good considering what it's usually like up here, so all good.

GabGab thanks for the cache.

I had nothing to do and wanted to find some caches and as there was some on top of the mountain I hadn't yet found and the weather looked good I went for a drive.

The trip up was a bit slow with everyone going up, once at the top it was hard to find a parking spot as every one and there dog was up on the mountain.

At GZ I had to be careful as a family followed me out and sat on the rocky outcrop luckily they sat looking the other way enjoying the sun and solitude.
The hint was required for this one. Smile

We were at the Springs getting the info for a history cache and we noticed that the air was still and calm so we thought we would try our luck with the weather on the pinnacle - well, lo and behold not a breath of wind which made for an enjoyable short walk to GZ. Nice and easy find. Thanks for the cache GabGab

Quick find while in area

After finding the GA cache placed by caughtatwork, we headed off to look for this one. The wind seemed to be getting even stronger although it wasn't that cold. Again very accurate coordinates and a good hint led to a quick find. This cache was in good condition. Thanks GabGab for the well hidden cache.

In Hobart for the weekend for family duties but managed to get a couple of hours off so up the mountain we went to grab a couple of new caches. A sunny but very windy day, gotta hang on on your might get blown off the mountain! An easy find at GZ, thanks fot he cache and the scavenge

24-Jan-17
From Launceston to Mount Wellington today on the scavenge trail and this was one I found. It was so windy on the Mountain today that I could hardly stand up for the 80 m I had to walk to GZ (nearly had hypothermia) had to use the hint as GPS didn't settle until after I found it. Plenty of spots to park today. TFTC Will use for the Summer Scavenger Series games.

we battled the tourists again as we headed up the mountain. Parking was a problem and we waited ages for a spot. A beautiful warm day with muggles everywhere but nobody cared what we were doing. FTF with SSR again at 2.35pm. thanks for another one today. Cheers G &E

another FTF with GooseandEgg, thanks for the pathtag
I was thinking this was the day I was up the mountain in the fog but that was another day at this time of year.
Came back to add to this log to say how much fun I had running out over the xmas break, had some great views today.
