Description

2016/17 Summer Scavenger Series cache

The cache is not at the published coordinates.

The published coordinates will take you to a nice little local reserve called Chain of Ponds Reserve which follows along Currency Creek. After rain and at dusk you can hear the frogs in their masses. Needless to say that this information will not help you at all in determining the location of the cache, to do that you will need to work out the source of the above text.

Out hunting mystery caches with Sophoutloud today I spent a good couple of hours trying to figure out a whole bunch of puzzles some of you folk are very clever (and evil Laughing ) and there has been a lot of work put into these caches. once my brain started to hurt we headed off in search of the caches, most of these haven't seen people for over 2 years and we were pleasantly surprised that every one we searched for was present and in great condition. There were a few muggles around that lived in the close by properties so we had to wait a short while but once we got to the GZ the cache was in hand quickly. good hiding spot TFTC

#GA2308 - 16:25; When the States of the Nation game began, a plan was hatched for a group of ACT cachers to take a trip north to the Hawkesbury on a scavenger raid. As time passed the group's numbers dwindled, but with a bit of work solving puzzles and a few things rescheduled, our merry band comprising andrewbt, Sol de lune and I set off on a damp Canberra morning to try our hand. A recent visit to Canberra by cachers from this area provided an added incentive, so we could repay the karma points we gained from their visit. A successful day it turned out to be with 56 finds and only three DNFs. Another interesting puzzle, but we managed to crack the code and grab the cache on our visit today. Nice to collect some long solved puzzles on this hot afternoon before the New Year event at winery. After being neglected for nearly a year, this cache got plenty of love today - but alas no frogs.

A quiet spot today. Found the hollow but it was frog-free and probably too dry for frogs, but just right for geocaches. Thanks teamMerlin.

Out for a little tour of the area for four mysteries. This was the second and was a quick drive by at GZ with just a short walk needed.
Will claim for the summer scavenge series

Well today was a day of firsts;- First reverse geocache, First podcache, FTF on a touchable GA cache! First GA mystery!

I was driving out mainly to have a go at the reverse cache & gave Lucky1955 a ring to see if he wanted to come too. He did!
By this stage Lucky1955 had gone & I had decided to try and find as many different types of caches as I could.

Nice little drive through some pretty scenery & a nice quick find.

Another mystery that I managed to solve without hints or help! Maybe I'm getting the hang of these basic mystery methods. As we pulled up at GZ, my heart sank at the sight of our search area but my gps narrowed it down so well that I had no trouble at all. ANother great idea teamMerlin

Found the coordinates required at home prior to coming out this way this afternoon and got to GZ in a bit of rain spotted a rabbit, hops around but is no frog so kept on looking and finally spotted the hiding place in the hollow for the frog. Signed the log as second to find and replaced as found. Thanks for the puzzle cache teamMerlin

It was starting to rain just lightly when I reached this one. I hope the frogs liked it! I admit, I like the slight rain much better than the recent killer heat days!

Thanks with your help with this one Very Happy

With a bit of guidance was able to look further into this and obtain the needed coordinates.
Made a claim for this cache this morning approached from the wrong direction initially but made a quick find at midday.
Nice second FTF today. Adding another to the Summer Scavenger hunt.
