Description

A test of your memories of 2016.....

I'm not sure about you, but I'm getting a bit weary from hearing about the deaths of various 'celebrities' and the media frenzy which has followed some of these, particularly in times when real news was hard to come by.  While some of these deaths were at a relatively young age by todays standards, I was amused by a discussion I heard on the radio where one media outlet had picked up on a comment on another media outlet about the passing of Zsa Zsa Gabor as being 'too soon' and wondering aloud whether this might have been a bit over the top.  I know I think it is, unless of course you think it would have been nice if she could have made it to February and her next birthday when she would have turned 100!

Okay, on to the cache.  This mystery cache IS NOT at the posted coordinates.  To find GZ, you will need to do a little bit of research about the age of the following celebrities (some of my favorites) when they set off along the river of dreams to meet their maker:

A = David Bowie.
B = Alan Rickman.
C = Rick Parfitt.
D = Muhammad Ali.
E = Zsa Zsa Gabor.
F = Glen Frey.
G = Abe Vigoda.
H = George Gaynes.
I = Merle Haggard.
J = Kenny Baker.

GZ is at S35 09.(J-I)(A-B)((D-C)-(E-G)-1) E149 09.(D-F)(D-C)(H-G+1)

Don't forget to use the 'Check Coords' button to confirm your answer.

I do love the Games that Geocaching Australia manages to think up. They certainly inspire me to get out and be more involved. Today I decided to come out to Mulligan's Flat and see how many of the Puzzle caches that are out here I could find. I had them solved and drove out early. Along the way I frightened kangaroos (and they me), I collected numerous spider webs (sorry spiders plenty of repairs for you to do) and even collected some caches. This was one of them so many thanks LuckyL10n. SL DancingDancingDancingClan CerberusClan CerberusClan Cerberus

Apologies for the generic logs - I want to get back out there and find some more.

Nibletricecakes and I found this one on our adventure in Mulligans Flat tonight. We were out collecting a daily and needed a few gca puzzles for NRCs research task. TFTC.

I headed out into Mulligans Flat with Joolay and AKM to collect the caches about halfway between 'pointless Roundabaout' and Horse Park Drive near the Federal Highway. It was mostly flat and we had a great walk. I was happy to get to five previously solved GA caches along the way, so a good bonus.

Thanks
Albida

Nice quick find ounce at GZ. We all signed the cache and returned as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition.

With a planned GC and GA caching run south to the ACT, set off with Splitty Miller JJCC early in the morning and catching up with phlphotos and alnic39 for a team assualt. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find at GZ. After signing the log we replaced as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache LuckyL10n.

2016 was a crappy year for losing great artists...and it made me worry for 2017. It wasn't as bad, but we did lose Tom Petty this year, and that hit me a little hard, like losing Bowie. That being said, we must cache one. I saw Paul McCartney last week and will see Brian may early next year, so that gives me hope for the future of geocaching. What? i think i'm mixing up aspects of my life! No matter. TFTC

Came down with alnic39 for a day trip into ACT we had teamMerlin & Splitty Miller JJCC catch up with us before we entered ACT. Had a few caches targeted we got to some but missed others that we didn't get too. The main ones we got were Geocache, Canberra Nature Park, I Dunno and started to collect some of the UGC caches. It got quite warm into the early 30°& most of the caches were in Mulligans Flat area so the rock base warmed up a bit as well.

Found all the information on the various people who passed away in 2016 and doing the maths soon had valid coordinates. The coordinates were accurate so it made it a quick find

Signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache & log are in good contition. Thanks for the puzzle LuckyL10n

GCA 1581. Found just on dusk with minniek.

Having pre-solved a rather sad puzzle it was a quick walk in and find for todays GCA cache. No closure signs here so must not be part of the cull this year?

TFTC LL !!

Out and about earlyy before the heat set in. A Ranger did confirm later that this area is out of bounds on a Total Fire Ban Day (but after I had found 4). Still amazed at how I find it difficulat to find large caches. All good and on to the next. PS, good puzzle, glad you thought of it first Cool

With my caching being all at sea over the last couple of weeks, it was good to get out and find a few more caches for the SSS games. Worked out this one this morning, along with a few others, and hen headed out to make the finds....

Puzzle brought back a few memories of those departed...some probably missed more than others. Once at GZ, the cache was a quick find and the log was soon signed.

Thanks LL.....good to be back out this way again.

2TF - a certain someone got FTF last night...

Found on a lovely morning around Gungahlin on a GC/GCA mission. This easy puzzle was a moving tributes to many of the stars we lost in 2016 - one of the most tragic years for the music/acting industry. Some of them being very notable figures in my life: David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Rick Parfitt, Muhammad Ali, Glenn Frey and Kenny Baker. But I couldn't help noticing the many other notable absences - Prince, George Michael, Gene Wilder, Carrie Fisher (as well as her mother Debbie Reynold), Florence Henderson and Leonard Cohen. RIP to all of them.

After a short walk from the road, it was a very quick find at GZ - nicely sized container, but where's all the swaps! Very HappyWink Lovely area that's great to cache in! TNLNSL. TFTC LuckyL10n! Clan Cerberus
