Description
2016/17 Summer Scavenger Series cache
The cache is not at the published coordinates. The posted coordinates will get you to Ebenezer (NSW) only and have no bearing on solving the final location of the cache ...the rest is up to you.
Welcome to the Hawkesbury's first Geocaching Australia Reverse Cache. In order to locate the physical cache, you will need to use our virtual reverse cache box which has been provided to you in a Wherigo cartridge. The reverse cache will provide you with distance to the cache (but no bearing), it is then up to you to find the cache so that you can sign the log and then log your find here. In your online log, please state how many times you used the reverse cache box.
Whereigo Cartridge: ehcaC esreveR rezenebE
To test the cartridge, we used the WhereYouGo app on an Android smartphone.

We started within the posted co-ords area and set off in one direction, only to find ourselves further away from GZ. So it was off down another road where we found the distance was coming down....but then going up again. Another change of direction saw us heading down towards an area we didn't think we go to. Car was parked and then it another push to see the way and we were off along that route. Once at an area that could have seen us going a couple of ways, it was another push to see where we should head. That took to us towards GZ, which was nicely confirmed and we soon had the cache in hand. Log as signed, cache replaced and there were big smiles on our dials.
All up, it was probably 12 times we used the reverse cache box....but the plan was to get the cache...and that certainly was the only way we do it.
Thanks for the fun TeamMerlin. Great cache and another recommended for it.
Loaded the wherigo on the way up. Made a few wrong turns as we tried to find it, ended up finding it way way way down the path. Nice walk!
TFTC Cache TM!
A big day around Sackville collecting 6xGC and 18xGCA caches.
I enjoy a good Wherigo and have never encountered any of the issues that other people seem to experience. I picked 2 pretty good spots to use the box resulting in a good idea of where I needed to go. I took a third reading just for the sake of good triangulation. Plenty of viable options but I had absolutely no luck finding anything cache like. The spot where I took my fourth reading suggested I was only 8m away. Previous logs suggested a hint would be forthcoming from the cartridge, but I ended up using the box another 5 or 6 times all with <5m to go. More looking and more rechecking but still nothing. I ended up leaving to get another cache before returning and re-starting the cartridge. It was still leading me to the same spot and I soon racked up another 10 uses of the box. Out of desperation, I contacted the CO for a hint which he was quick to supply. Another 10 min of looking before I gave up and headed back towards the car - but wait - what's that? Finally my name was added to the log. Search time here easily exceeded my time at Seat of Contemplation. I really can't complain because all of the other caches today were found quickly, so just a bad case of cache-blindness here.

As we enjoy wherigo caches we were looking forward to attempting this one. We loaded the cartridge before we left home.
Our first attempt had us over 2km away. The next had us about 1.5km away. A few intersection calculations and we had 2 sets of coordinates. A check of google earth and we felt we had a feasible solution. We decided to take a third reading to confirm our suspicions. Just as well we checked. Our initial hunch was wrong. A little recalculation and a check on google earth and our new solution looked good. Now off to gz.
When we arrived at our selected option we were pleased to get a "you are 134m from the cache". There was only one way to go. We were pleased when we got a "you are very close" followed by a clue. After a short hunt we found the well hidden container. The cache and contents were in excellent condition.
Thanks TeamMerlin for the fun and for a well constructed wherigo that was easy to use and follow. Thanks also for a reverse cache that will fill a gap in our cache types found.
This was so much fun! Nowhere near as hard as a Puzzle cache to solve and very satisfying to find. YEAH!!!!
I took a reading at the published coords and got some ridiculous number (sub-picometre resolution with dekametre accuracy?) but rounded it off, plotted a circle and moved to a second spot. That gave me the same ridiculous number which did nothing to improve my confidence. I restarted the app a couple of times and checked that everything necessary was permitted and enabled, then drove down to the end of the street to see if that made a difference. 133m it said! I moved that distance and didn't ask again as the screen volunteered that I'd arrived and delivered a final hint. So despite my clutzy use of the thing and abject skepticism, I'd found the cache in just 3 hops. Beginners luck, I'd have to say. Thanks again teamMerlin.

I was driving out to have a go at this reverse one & gave Lucky1955 a ring to see if he wanted to come too. He did!
So we met up at the first coords, and armed with an old UBD we started to draw rough circles. I think we had 1.7km & 2.6km as our furthest. But we persevered & the circles became ever decreasing. We had 7 goes I think. But we were running out of time & we said just one more - 135m - woohoo!
So we walked in what we hoped was the right direction, got a "you're almost there message" & soon had CIH! Joint *FTF* with Lucky1955.
This was a lot of fun, thanks for setting it up TeamMerlin. I'm sure there are more accurate ways to work it out - but we got there anyway!
Our seventh stop had us close enough for a walk to GZ which happened to be correct. The whereigo app gave us the final clue, and moments later we became joint *FTF* as we signed the log.
That was a fun cache trying to narrow down GZ well worth the effort. Thanks TeamMerlin for setting it up.
