Description

CCC19 - Go Ride A Bike

If you’re feeling tired in this vast area of shopping, business district and geocaching, you might want to hire a bike to help you along on your way. This location might help you do just that provided of course that you can remember how to ride one. I found that even after many years of not riding, it all comes back to when you have fallen off a dozen times and have the knee scrapes to remember. As I always say to GabGab, if you don’t bleed, you didn’t have fun. You are seeking a brown magnetic 200ml sistema container hidden in a fashion that a huge steel shed might warrant. This geocache is not suitable to those in a wheelchair. A kid accessible area and with their height would even come in handy for the retrieve.

I dragged a newbie around docklands on a hunt, and this was our first stop. Glad it’s still here, untouched, in such a public spot, and in good condition too Exclamation Will note that the magnets are still incredibly strong, so make sure to use some force - was a good start to our expedition! - Josie & Abby

Out collecting caches before the storm hits. There were lots of muggles about here but they were all going away from the cache so I was able to search in peace after they had passed.
Thanks caughtatwork for the cache.

So glad that it was quiet here today, after a quick walk round GZ we resorted to the clue and made a very quick find.

I travelled back home to SA from Perth for family reasons and decided that Melbourne is only a short hop from Adelaide, so I logged an attendance at the Parkville Mega event and headed over for 5 days in Melbourne. I hired an E bike and had it for 4 days so was able to get around to many places and grab lots of caches as well as biking from the Youth Hostel in North Melbourne to Parkeville which was only a short ride. I arrived Thursday arvo and headed into the cbd from North Melbourne for a quick look around and then back to the Hostel I was too early to pick up the bike so jumped on a tram and headed to the docklands and grabbed some caches in the area. I can not believe how much the CBD and docklands has changed since we were here about 5 years ago. This cache was a little tricky due to the amount of muggles wandering around the area. Clever hide and still in good condition. Thanks for bringing me back and to the cache Caughtatwork. ClappingClan Minotaur

For the third day this week I wandered out of the office sans GPS for a nice find.
Cache right where it said it would be according to the clue.
Thanks

Found with jinxed13 on our holiday to Melbourne. After watching the Doggies win against the Blues, we walked around Docklands to get more of the CCC caches...despite the patchy rain and wind. At GZ it was a very quick find, with beautiful views of the harbour. TNLNSL. TFTC C@W! Clan Cerberus

Out for an evening stroll in the city after a weekend keeping an eye on the kids while the better half escaped for some Mother's Day fun.

It took a bit of scrabbling about, but I came up with the goods. Thanks, C@W.

Planning for this trip began in June - we knew we would be heading to Adelaide but which way would we go? This depended on our targets. We looked at our list of unclaimed Dragon Zone trophies and picked out several that we could feasibly collect the required number of finds to qualify for the trophy. We then had to identify caches that would meet our targets and from here it was time to plan a route that would take us past the caches we had identified. Any caches too far off our route were discarded and replaced by suitable alternatives.

All was running smoothly until the Christmas in July game was announced. We would be travelling in the latter part of the game. It was difficult to include this in our target caches as we did not know what was required. Once the game began and we understood what we needed to do we could then add other caches to the target list.

We were just getting our heads, yes all four of them, around this when more Dragon Zone trophies were added. Which ones could we meet and which should we ignore? Do we need to add more GA caches and/or do we need to change our route and our targets? We decided on our target list and then our route and timeline. We had just drawn a line under everything and were about to begin printing our caching booklets, route maps and target lists when caught@work published 23 new caches on the Western Ring Path. Earlier we had decided on the caches in the Edgewater Walk series. If we added the new ones on the Western Ring Path and as many of the CCC series as possible, we could probably reach the required number of caches to qualify for the Dragon Zone trophies “Restraining Order Stalker” (Find 100 DZ caches hidden by the same cacher) and “Obsession!=Insanity” (find 50 DZ caches in a day). As the latter would give us our first Blaze Trophy, it was decided to alter everything to include the CCC series.

We usually head out of the Melbourne CBD as soon as we disembark from The Spirit of Tasmania as we do not enjoy city caching. If we were going to tackle the CCC series we would have to start in Docklands, then move to Edgewater walk and the Western Ring Path. Caches in these series also carry nice points for the Christmas in July game. New lists drawn up, alterations made to the route and maps. New line drawn and printing and collating begun. No major changes now (unless something significant gets published just before we leave – we cannot be too inflexible when caching is involved).

It has been some time since we have cached in the Docklands area and our first impression was the large areas of development which have taken place. This development seemed to have impacted on satellite signals as both our GPS units were quite erratic and, in general, took quite some time to settle. The detailed hints were very much appreciated as it enabled us to start searching without waiting for the GPS to settle and so made searching more efficient.

This was certainly a very decorative location for the hide. Again there were very few muggles and the hint enabled us to make a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition.

Thanks caught@work for this cache and all the caches you have placed around Docklands. And yes we are practising for our dissertation.

#GA1794 - 14:00; In Melbourne for a few days to visit the geoteen, after breakfast and a spot of caching around Carlton, I headed to Docklands to continue my caching mission while the other members of the geofamily did some retail therapy. I had collected a few caches in this series yesterday and was out to collect a few more today. Another one which has seen some post January action. Managed to extract the cache without too much hassle after dropping it, for my last stop on this afternoon run before heading off to the 'G' for the footy. TFTC caughtatwork Very HappyClan Cerberus

Now with Ikkibrady on the walk back and we stopped for this one. Ikkibrady made the find...we signed the log...and I replaced the cache...only to drop it in the hole below the hiding spot. Managed to get it back...after initially pushing it further in...and returned it to it's magnetic spot. All good for the next finders....

Thanks again caughtatwork. Clapping 12 from 14...and getting closer to the starting point. Might visit this guy on my next visit to help get around the area.....
