Description
CCC28 - D&E
D&E will make sense when you arrive but when you arrive you will have to watch out for traffic. This is not a kid friendly geocache but if you visit at the right time safety is much higher than during certain weekend periods. This geocache can be retrieved from a wheelchair, but you are likely to be on the road so watch out for traffic and you might also need to reach up and over to make the retrieve. The geocache is a small 400ml container painted grey and hidden in the most obvious location without it being hidden in any rocks or stones. As with other geocaches surrounded by high buildings the GPS shadows may cause you to wander around somewhat so there is a good hint to help you on your way. Not kid friendly at all!

Logs
I travelled back home to SA from Perth for family reasons and decided that Melbourne is only a short hop from Adelaide, so I logged an attendance at the Parkville Mega event and headed over for 5 days in Melbourne. I hired an E bike and had it for 4 days so was able to get around to many places and grab lots of caches as well as biking from the Youth Hostel in North Melbourne to Parkeville which was only a short ride. I arrived Thursday arvo and headed into the cbd from North Melbourne for a quick look around and then back to the Hostel I was too early to pick up the bike so jumped on a tram and headed to the docklands and grabbed some caches in the area. I can not believe how much the CBD and docklands has changed since we were here about 5 years ago. I was up top getting the other cache and i wandered down the road and soon found how to get to the cache. This cache was a very easy find even though there were muggles sitting in their cars nearby. Clever hide and still in good condition. Thanks for bringing me here and to the cache Caughtatwork.

Out for an evening stroll in the city after a weekend keeping an eye on the kids while the better half escaped for some Mother's Day fun.
I could tell that tonight's caching would be all about the ups and downs, with a few interesting detours involved. Still not the cache I was aiming for, but as I was passing...
Cheers, C@W.

Today we needed 15 caches for the Idus Marti Trophy and this was 1 we found. Enjoyed the walk around the Docklands area - some places we have not been before so thanks for showing us a different part of Melbourne. Made a quick find thanks to the detailed hint. Cache and contents in good condition.
Many thanks Caughtatwork for publishing this cache for our enjoyment and adding to our geocaching experience.
Tassie Trekkers are now a locationless geocache we have published a 'Geocacher cache' - Travelling Trekkers GA10932 - so if you spot us in your area sign our log book and receive a code word to earn yourself a We were one of the lucky teams to receive a pathtag from Geocaching Australia for publishing a "Geocacher Cache" - thanks Geocaching Australia.

Another trip to Melbourne with a few hours to fill in before loading passengers and returning home via the long road.
Today was planned as a caching day around part of the Docklands area followed by a long slow lunch.
Down the slope from Rock Wall and along the grass to this cache. The passing motorists on the high speed road paid no attention but the motorists on the slow speed road (and there were a few of them) all looked at me as I signed the log.
Thanks again.

#GA2234 - 08:55; Accompanied the geoteen to Melbourne on her first drive down and into the city, where she has been studying for the past 12 months, after she decided it was time to bring the vehicle down too. After a long day on the road, I overnighted not far from Docklands and decided that an early morning wander was in order to collect a few of the CCC series I had not picked up on previous excursions. Another unexpected bonus find which was not on the original 'to do' list for this morning, but which was just begging to be found after I had logged another two along this stretch of roadway following a slight miscalculation while on the hunt for a GC multi which gave me access to what had seemed an inaccessible site with all the current works underway in the area at the moment. I was pretty happy to grab this one as I passed, as it leaves only two in this series for me to bag and perhaps only one once this morning's mission is complete . TFTC caughtatwork

Planning for this trip began in June - we knew we would be heading to Adelaide but which way would we go? This depended on our targets. We looked at our list of unclaimed Dragon Zone trophies and picked out several that we could feasibly collect the required number of finds to qualify for the trophy. We then had to identify caches that would meet our targets and from here it was time to plan a route that would take us past the caches we had identified. Any caches too far off our route were discarded and replaced by suitable alternatives.
All was running smoothly until the Christmas in July game was announced. We would be travelling in the latter part of the game. It was difficult to include this in our target caches as we did not know what was required. Once the game began and we understood what we needed to do we could then add other caches to the target list.
We were just getting our heads, yes all four of them, around this when more Dragon Zone trophies were added. Which ones could we meet and which should we ignore? Do we need to add more GA caches and/or do we need to change our route and our targets? We decided on our target list and then our route and timeline. We had just drawn a line under everything and were about to begin printing our caching booklets, route maps and target lists when caught@work published 23 new caches on the Western Ring Path. Earlier we had decided on the caches in the Edgewater Walk series. If we added the new ones on the Western Ring Path and as many of the CCC series as possible, we could probably reach the required number of caches to qualify for the Dragon Zone trophies “Restraining Order Stalker” (Find 100 DZ caches hidden by the same cacher) and “Obsession!=Insanity” (find 50 DZ caches in a day). As the latter would give us our first Blaze Trophy, it was decided to alter everything to include the CCC series.
We usually head out of the Melbourne CBD as soon as we disembark from The Spirit of Tasmania as we do not enjoy city caching. If we were going to tackle the CCC series we would have to start in Docklands, then move to Edgewater walk and the Western Ring Path. Caches in these series also carry nice points for the Christmas in July game. New lists drawn up, alterations made to the route and maps. New line drawn and printing and collating begun. No major changes now (unless something significant gets published just before we leave – we cannot be too inflexible when caching is involved).
It has been some time since we have cached in the Docklands area and our first impression was the large areas of development which have taken place. This development seemed to have impacted on satellite signals as both our GPS units were quite erratic and, in general, took quite some time to settle. The detailed hints were very much appreciated as it enabled us to start searching without waiting for the GPS to settle and so made searching more efficient.
We had some fun and games earlier this morning trying to get to GZ. We found our selves on a level above GZ outside Etiad Stadium but with no way down. After a lot of walking around we finally made our way out and down but were some distance away. After finding several other caches we managed to make our way down to road level where we walked to the Etiad lower car park area and located another well hidden cache. Cache and contents were in good condition. Local knowledge would have certainly saved our legs.
Thanks caught@work for this cache and all the caches you have placed around Docklands. And yes we are practicing for our dissertation.

A nice quick swoop for our tenth cache... once we worked out how to get there...

Looking down the road as I walked towards this on, the hare was nowhere in sight so I guess he must have made a few quick finds along here and was now well into another area of cache density. Was trying to think what D&E might stand for, but gave up when I saw where the cache would probably be. Plan was to make a quick find and move on....which is what happened. Hadn't notice this before, but this size and type of container only goes into these hiding spots one way. Must remember that....
7 from 9 and still plugging away.....thanks caughtatwork.
