Description

CCC44 - City Inbound

Use the pedestrian crossing, safety first. This 400ml grey sistema container joins the river geocaches to those in the concrete canyons. You should be able to get to the location with one set of traffic lights, find the geocache and with the next set of light changes on your way. Be patient. Geocaching is just a game. This location is relatively friendly to wheelchairs but small children should be closely supervised here.

I had some spare time before my flight home so I made the effort to locate this cache. A quick find. Cache and contents are in good condition. Very Happy

Great day to put a smiley here.

I only had about 4 cars past.

The cache was a quick find and sign.

This was a pretty easy find for me and my ex, although the choice of locale is a bit.. grotty.

Wow what a location, quite brazen. I felt so uncomfortable but found it I did.

I travelled back home to SA from Perth for family reasons and decided that Melbourne is only a short hop from Adelaide, so I logged an attendance at the Parkville Mega event and headed over for 5 days in Melbourne. I hired an E bike and had it for 4 days so was able to get around to many places and grab lots of caches as well as biking from the Youth Hostel in North Melbourne to Parkeville which was only a short ride. I arrived Thursday arvo and headed into the cbd from North Melbourne for a quick look around and then back to the Hostel I was too early to pick up the bike so jumped on a tram and headed to the docklands and grabbed some caches in the area. I can not believe how much the CBD and docklands has changed since we were here about 5 years ago. This cache was a very easy find even though there were tons of vehicles going past and stopped at traffic lights. It was very hard to inconspicuous but i grabbed it and signed the log and had it back without too much worry. Clever hide and still in good condition. Thanks for bringing me here even though it was in the middle of the road and to the cache Caughtatwork. ClappingClan Minotaur

Found It!
A quick find during the evening peak. So inbound was pretty quiet and the other side was packed full of cars...

Found on an excellent footy trip to Melbourne with Sol de lune and LuckyL10n. A lovely walk around Docklands lead us here, for another very quick find at GZ. TNLNSL. TFTC C@W!

Another one in the Docklands area that Toy Hunters and I made our way to. No change of stealth here...just a matter of hoping things weren't too busy. As it turned out, there were a few passing cars, however we made the grab, completed the signing duties before replacing the cache and continuing on our way just over there....

Thanks for another one caughtatwork...looking forward to the next CCC.

another quick grab here

Planning for this trip began in June - we knew we would be heading to Adelaide but which way would we go? This depended on our targets. We looked at our list of unclaimed Dragon Zone trophies and picked out several that we could feasibly collect the required number of finds to qualify for the trophy. We then had to identify caches that would meet our targets and from here it was time to plan a route that would take us past the caches we had identified. Any caches too far off our route were discarded and replaced by suitable alternatives.

All was running smoothly until the Christmas in July game was announced. We would be travelling in the latter part of the game. It was difficult to include this in our target caches as we did not know what was required. Once the game began and we understood what we needed to do we could then add other caches to the target list.

We were just getting our heads, yes all four of them, around this when more Dragon Zone trophies were added. Which ones could we meet and which should we ignore? Do we need to add more GA caches and/or do we need to change our route and our targets? We decided on our target list and then our route and timeline. We had just drawn a line under everything and were about to begin printing our caching booklets, route maps and target lists when caught@work published 23 new caches on the Western Ring Path. Earlier we had decided on the caches in the Edgewater Walk series. If we added the new ones on the Western Ring Path and as many of the CCC series as possible, we could probably reach the required number of caches to qualify for the Dragon Zone trophies “Restraining Order Stalker” (Find 100 DZ caches hidden by the same cacher) and “Obsession!=Insanity” (find 50 DZ caches in a day). As the latter would give us our first Blaze Trophy, it was decided to alter everything to include the CCC series.

We usually head out of the Melbourne CBD as soon as we disembark from The Spirit of Tasmania as we do not enjoy city caching. If we were going to tackle the CCC series we would have to start in Docklands, then move to Edgewater walk and the Western Ring Path. Caches in these series also carry nice points for the Christmas in July game. New lists drawn up, alterations made to the route and maps. New line drawn and printing and collating begun. No major changes now (unless something significant gets published just before we leave – we cannot be too inflexible when caching is involved).

It has been some time since we have cached in the Docklands area and our first impression was the large areas of development which have taken place. This development seemed to have impacted on satellite signals as both our GPS units were quite erratic and, in general, took quite some time to settle. The detailed hints were very much appreciated as it enabled us to start searching without waiting for the GPS to settle and so made searching more efficient.

We enjoyed the walk to this cache particularly finding the lovely old Seafarers Mission building among the modern sky Scrapers of modern Docklands. We had no trouble locating the cache and signing the log as the traffic whizzed by on both sides. Container and contents were in good condition,

Thanks caught@work for this cache and all the caches you have placed around Docklands. And yes we are practising for our dissertation.

#GA1781 - 14:55; In Melbourne for a few days to visit the geoteen, I headed off on a short caching mission this afternoon while the others indulged in some retail therapy. After a DNF on my first stop, it was a relief to collect a quick find and sign on this cache. I felt a bit exposed at GZ, but nobody seemed to pay any attention to me! My mission was to visit a whole bunch of ex (as in parrot) Victorian Premiers for this year's major challenge. Once all the nearby notables were accounted for (and a few chance discoveries in parts of the cemetery I'd not, at least in recent years, visited), it was time to move on.

With not enough time left to add to the tally of pollies, I decided to see how many of this new series I could find. These have been on the radar since I had family issues mean a no-show at the competition for which they were placed. A short tram trip or two to a pretty good starting point courtesy of the literal leave pass I'd been given by the better half, and I was off and running. Well... strolling..

Perfect placement, C@W, as I was on my way to tackle a nearby multi at the Mission to Seamen... needless to say, it took me more signal cycles to get there than would be the norm.

About this time every year I get to spend a few very tiring days at Jeff's Shed for the International Toyfair. Not as an exhibitor but as a retailer trying to find the next hot product at an acceptable price.
Evening are spent pouring over paperwork and writing stock orders. When that's finished I get a chance to walk the streets of Melbourne CBD (one of my great loves) and search for a few caches. Tonight I concentrated on a few more of the caches placed for the recent CCC event.

After such an easy find/retrieve at the last cache this one proved to be quite stubborn to retrieve without being too obvious to all the traffic stopped at lights in all directions. With the arm of a contortionist I eventually dislodged it and could sign the log.

Thanks again C@W.
