Description

CCC46 - The Taunter

This geocache, depending on your method of approach might taunt you from any of the other geocaches that are around. It’s quite simple, there is no easy way, go and do it the hard way. You are looking for a geocache that will be somewhat larger than a 200ml sistema container but is only about 200ml in geocache volume. The geocache should be obvious when you get to the location as you may have already found one like it as part of this series. This geocache is not wheelchair friendly. This geocache is not kid friendly. You will need to walk along the road barrier to Wurundjeri Way only a few metres from oncoming traffic. While you are safe, it’s an experience small ones may not appreciate.

At first I approached from the wrong side.

Then I attacked from the wrong end.

Then I hiked on foot long grass.

Then I signed the log.

It's a little wet internally.

As I made my way to this cleverly hidden cache I was overtaken by a young Japanese lady on foot.
I was on the safe side of the barrier and she wandered down the bitumen.
The cache was spotted on approach, laying on it's side, close to where the compass was sending me.
After signing duties were completed I replaced the camouflage securely in the corner.
The young lass then proceeded to wander back the other way, on the median strip.
Strange behavior indeed.
I stood up and brushed myself off and made my way to the next cache, up on the walkway above.
Thanks for the cache caughtatwork.

Found on an excellent footy trip to Melbourne with Sol de lune and LuckyL10n. After working our way through to GZ it was a very quick find. TNLNSL. TFTC C@W!

Sunday morning walk around this part of Docklands to grab the few remaining caches in this series I still need to find.

This one reminder me of a couple in this series a little further away. Once the way in was sorted, todays early traffic wasn't too much of a worry. A later in the day when the game was about to start...well, that could have been a different story.

Thanks caughtatwork...another one crossed off the unfound list.

Out for an evening stroll in the city after a weekend keeping an eye on the kids while the better half escaped for some Mother's Day fun.

This one taunted me when I first attempt the CCC hides in this area, and though I worked out where I needed to get, there wasn't enough time to actually get there. Tonight, I have plenty of time, so the interesting walk was completed for a nice easy find.

Thanks for the slight push out of the comfort zone, C@W.

#GA2232 - 08:40; Accompanied the geoteen to Melbourne on her first drive down and into the city, where she has been studying for the past 12 months, after she decided it was time to bring the vehicle down too. After a long day on the road, I overnighted not far from Docklands and decided that an early morning wander was in order to collect a few of the CCC series I had not picked up on previous excursions. After initially abandoning the hunt for this cache when I couldn't find a reasonably clear way to GZ, I had grabbed another couple in the series and set off for a GC multi which was disabled at the time of my last visit. It was during the hunt for the multi that I found myself at a great spot to gain access to GZ for this cache. The dislike of tall structures by my GPSr had actually worked in my favour as I found myself a block further north than I had planned, so I changed tack and headed through the long weeds to GZ, which was only a matter of metres, but a tall wall away from my first stop for the morning. Once I reached GZ, it was a quick find and sign before I headed north for a couple more in this series which I had deferred due to location on an earlier visit to the area. This is not a DNF but a couldn't find an access route. We walked around trying to find a way to GZ but a combination of closed footpaths, No Access due to construction of large buildings and GPSs going haywire resulted in us aborting the search after a frustrating hour. We'll be back again when we are next in the area and construction has been finished. This one will remain on the map to taunt us!

Very awkward location, but easily found once here. TFTC!

The Taunter lived up to its name as it took us many different angels to try and get there before we just sucked it up... again there was only a 'no pedestrian access' sign on one side and we only saw it after the fact.. so... no harm done right?

reading the description I was worried I was on the wrong side but it turned out I was exactly where I needed to be and was able to get the tag out of this one.
