Description

Find a Plume fuel bowser

The Mobil fuel company was previously known as the Socony-Vacuum Oil Company. It first started operating in Australia in 1895 and introduced its Plume brand of petrol in 1916.

The Flying Red Horse (Pegasus) logo was introduced in 1939, and in 1954 the Plume brand was replaced by Mobilgas.

Your mission is to find a fuel bowser that is no longer in use but still clearly shows the Plume logo.

To log a valid find you must take a photo of a Plume bowser with either youself, your GPS or Seeka in the photo, describe where you found it and log the coordinates (or nearby coordinates if it's on private property). A bowser can only be logged once.

You may log up to TWO finds (until the end of the Summer Scavenger Series game.) After the end of the game I will increase the allowable number of finds.

This cache was placed for the Summer Scavenger Series 2016-2017.

Go Phoenix.

Located in the ground of the Miles Qld Historical Village on the Warrego Highway. Miles is a town that used to rely on Grazing and the rural related industries but lately the Town is flourishing thanks to the Oil and Gas related industries. Miles is a good place for a rest stop and if you have one or two hours to spare then this historical village is a must. There is an admission charge. TFTL WazzaAndWenchs Clan MinotaurVery Happy

This was a fluke of a find. I visited a house close to home to snap a picture of a mad cow for my first claim for the States of the Nation game. As I was uploading the photo I noticed the Plume bowser in the background. I thought I must go back one day and take a proper pic some time for this locationless. Well today is that day and on our evening walk I stopped for a photo. This bowser is part of a large australiana display on the front lawn of the house. Its very impressive as is the condition of the bowser.
Thanks for the interesting locationless WazzaAndWenches.

We were meeting a friend near the Shepparton Motor Museum but arrived earlier than expected. So we took the opportunity to visit the museum. There are many great exhibits and the one that took our eye today was a petrol bowser branded Plume. We had not heard about Plume until this locationless was published but some online research gave us information about the history of Plume and its rebranding as Mobil over the years. The bowser we found was a dual delivery unit. The required photo, with our GPS sitting between the two glass storages on the top, has been added to the Gallery. Thanks WazzaAndWenches for a locationless cache which resulted in new knowledge for us.
