Description
A cache hidden for the Summer Scavenger Series at Ferndene Gorge State Reserve
The Ferndene Gorge State Reserve is in the Dial Range 6 Kilometres south of Penguin. It comprises 35.16 hectares (86.9 acres) and is managed by the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service. It was established on 2 August 1939 and is described by the Parks and Wildlife Service as a "scenic fern glade".
The picnic area has plenty of parking, a bbq, outside picnic tables and under-cover picnic tables and a well maintained toilet block. It’s a great spot for a picnic and also is the starting point for an easy 30 minute walk under the manferns along the banks of Mcbrides Creek. Just off to the left of the picnic area and over a little bridge is the walk to Thorsby’s Tunnel, an old silver mine shaft. You will also pass Brownings Tunnel along the way, both are left over from bygone mining days.
The cache is a micro magnetic hidden near the entrance to the reserve. Enjoy

Stopped at this lovely little reserve to check out the caches. this one was an easy find before heading off down the trail to check out the tunnels. TFTC
TFTC.
Took the longer way to walk to this cache, and then it took me quite a while to actually find cache.
Found this cache on a 2 day trip to the NW, covering over 1000 kms and finding around 100 caches of both GCA and GC
A flying visit to the North West Coast in an effort to score Dragonzone Points today.
Left Huonville at 0730 hours and got back at 2215 hours
A round trip of 740 kilometres to score 14 caches
Finding those 14 caches required me to walk a total of 8.52 kilometres using 11088 steps and causing me to burn 1930 calories – great exercise.
The weather could not have been better; no wind, lots of sunshine and blue skies with very little cloud – about 18 degrees all day; BEAUTIFUL!

Eighth find of the day - Love the cache name
Quick and easy
Sainted at 1613 hours
After doing the nearby great little walk - bubbling creek, bush noises, man ferns, solitude, good weather - great exercise; I found this one before getting back in the car. Great location and good views.
Once again caching has taken me to a spot that I did not know about and would have never visited were it not for this sport - Thank You!
TFTC and cheers
