Description

Spring, a time when a cacher's thoughts turn to caching.....!

This mystery cache IS NOT at the posted coordinates.  To find GZ, you will need to think about caching and what you like about it, then work it out for yourself!

Do you like to cache?  Do you cache on your own, or do you have someone else to go with?  Do you cache in the suburbs, or do you hit the road?  These are the type of questions which are sometimes asked of cachers just like you and I.  After a quick lesson in geocaching 101 for an interested muggle, the response is sometimes "Really, do I"!  "That sounds good!"  But then you find they have no idea whether there is much about where they come from because they live outside the local area.

While it's summer now and really hot, I find the best time for caching is in spring.  It's not too hot, or cold or wet, so you don't need to come home and jump into cold shower or a hot tub.  Although I must admit I don't mind it being a bit warm so when you get home you can enjoy a cold beverage and knock off the froth.  Do you prefer caches listed on GC or GCA, as I quite like both.  A word of warning though as you head out to find your next cache.  Don't be a maniac.

I do love the Games that Geocaching Australia manages to think up. They certainly inspire me to get out and be more involved. Today I decided to come out to Mulligan's Flat and see how many of the Puzzle caches that are out here I could find. I had them solved and drove out early. Along the way I frightened kangaroos (and they me), I collected numerous spider webs (sorry spiders plenty of repairs for you to do) and even collected some caches. This was one of them so many thanks LuckyL10n. SL ClappingClappingClappingClan CerberusClan CerberusClan Cerberus

Apologies for the generic logs - I want to get back out there and find some more.

Puzzle solved with help from the CO - thanks LL. It was a hot day for a walk today but it is great to be out enjoying all the birds in the area. Cache in good condition. TFTC

Met up with fitzy for a cold early morning walk for this one. How far I asked ?? Oh ok... It went quickly watching the huge amounts of Roos getting out of our way... Another nice big cache container.

Thanks LL !

GCA 1593. Found this one during a cold early morning walk with minniek.

Having solved this one a while ago it was now an appropriate time to head in and make the find. I think all the Roos have come out of hiding now that the cull is over - hundreds of them everywhere ! Quick find at GZ. Did you steal that from SDL ?? Lol.

TFTC LL !!

With exams over, and a want to relax, but knowing I needed my daily exercise - I jumped on the bike to collect the last GCA caches in Gungahlin

LuckyL10n had explained it a couple times to me, and I recounted wrong each time. I tried again and co-ords fell out. Phew!

Roos were quite in attendance tonight, which I have never seen here before (and I've been through here a lot!)

Anyhow, TFTC LL, Happy to finally cross this one off my list

A windy and warm stroll out to this one. A quick find at GZ and then a trip back to the car trying to picture what the CO must of looked like while transporting these things out into the bush.

Woohoo! FTF with Sol de Lune after I got back from Geelong (very tired by the end of it all)! This was another one of those clever word puzzles that make up a lot of Canberra puzzles! I had to get a small hint for this one from SdL before we went out today, so that meant that I was able to uncover the same set of coordinates through my calculations. This evening, SdL was very happy to find this one after he was denied entry earlier in the day due to the Sutton bushfire. So once we parked in the correct place (without any policemen stopping us), it was a reasonably short (let lovely) walk to GZ in the evening light. Once we arrived at GZ, the cache was quickly found - and when we opened it, we saw the wonderful sight of a blank logbook! TNLNSL. Awesome puzzle - TFTC LuckyL10n! Clan Cerberus

Looked at the cache and had several thoughts about how to go about solving it. Tried the first idea...nothing. Tried another idea...still nothing. Worked through a few more possibilities, but they all ended with nothing working. Had to bit the bullet and seek help from the owner. Turns out I was close, but needed to take another step before everything fell into place. With that done, the cords came out........and the checker agreed. Woo Hoo.

Headed out to make the find, but alas, a new bushfire had started a little down the road from where I needed to park, and the local authorities were in-situ and they certainly weren't going to let me do that. Thought that would be the end of it, but a few hours later, Toy Hunters and I were back in the area...and everything was fine again. So the car park and we the 700 metre walk to GZ. Cache was found without issue and we soon had our names in the log book. From there, another cache was grabbed and then it was back to the car...where Toy Hunters found yet another cache. A good hours out...

Thanks LL....a longer walk than some....but we go there eventually.
