Description

Fairy Dell area and trail lead to many different places of interest.

The Fairy Dell Area offers a shady alternative for the heat of summer. As you descend from the street, you will feel the temperature drop. Beyond the picnic area you will find a lush rainforest-like area along easy to walk tracks. You will come across a number of beautiful waterfalls and creek crossings and the birds are singing constantly.

The forest floor and track is constntly covered in leaves and, though not deciduous, the cool temps and surrounds remind me of...autumn.

Came down to the area for a letterbox and saw on the cache page that this one existed so we had to have a look.
The tin is doing ok. Logbook was very soggy. Added a slice of paper to write on. TFTC

A quick punch in the late afternoon – 3 from 6 AGC caches along this track found today – found the likely hiding spot & the hint matches but no cache. Well a photo or photos are a thousand words – I have learnt a new Aboriginal word – gunyah - meaning an Aboriginal bush hut, typically made of sheets of bark and branches.
And 'Carinya' is an Aboriginal word meaning 'happy peaceful home'. Consistent with this theme and to reflect the cultural heritage of the site, street. names within Carinya Park have been selected from Aboriginal words meaning. water, space, land aspects and home. So Carinya gunyah.
Well back to the cache a maintenance check I reckon is needed here – in any case many thanks for the visit to the area.

found a likely stump but no cache found. maybe next time.

Going down the track we were so busy chatting we walked right past, so looked for it on the way back. I could see the container out in the open. It looked like something had been scratching around the stump and the container got in the way so it got kicked out of the way! Signed log and returned to its hiding spot. TFTC

#GA2489 - 16:55; Day one of a caching mission in the Blue Mountains with Sol de lune. After an early start in Canberra, we collected a few of the newer caches along the highway before we reached the foot of the mountains and started the major part of the mission, to collect GCA caches to help us meet some dragonZone trophy requirements. We had enjoyed a great start having picked up a few caches already, including the 10K series, as we were now headed around in the hills. After a bit of urban caching in Springwood, it was time to head bush again for a few more down in the Dell. Picked up one near the entrance and another near the carpark then it was off into the rainforest. The GPSr was still struggling under the tree cover as we approached GZ, so the hint was again useful in making the find. TFTC alnic39 Very HappyClan Cerberus

Second find for the day, after we walked right past the second one on the track! This one took a little bit of searching for, as the camo had been replaced really well & looked natural. Got it after a few circuits.

Thanks Very Happy

Came with the CO for a walk down this trail that I have been down a number of times in the past so they could find out if the coords were accurate. Got to this one and also wanted to keep on going but saw the hide mentioned in the hint as I was walking around to work out where the hide was an Eastern Water Dragon was sitting beside me watching what I was doing it must be used to humans as didn’t move as I walked passed it & stood near it. Well found the cache and signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache alnic39
