Description
I am sorry to the rest of Australia, but you will have to come to the Gold Coast to 'find' this locationless, but the good news is that they are everywhere.
Animals with Attitude started as a fundraiser for the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital first in 2013 then again in 2015. Designed by Gold Coast sculpter and film props maker John Cox (think Babe, Chronicles of Narnia – Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Pirates of the Caribbean 5, amongst others) these oversized koalas have been reimagined by local artists with new skins, often suited to the location where they have been placed.
There are over 50 of those colourful sculptures around the Gold Coast Area. To log your find, take a photo of the koala, preferably with yourself or your 'representative' - we travel with a small bear called Samboo. Every koala should have a name plaque and the name of the artist, so include the koala's name if possible.. I'd also like to know your opinion of the placement of the art work. How does that koala design match its environment?
You can log this locationless as many times as you like, as long as someone else has logged it in between.
The Animals with Attitude Facebook page might provide a few clues on where to find them, but generally keep your eyes open in public spaces.

Knowing that the location is FULL EVERY day of the week I went for an early morning drive on New Years Day before the crowds and in the teeming rain. And today I need a Brown for Cacheopoly and voila here it is.
Once breakfast was done we walked the Gallery Walk as one does, and stopped at the Fudge Shop and snapped a pic of the Animal with Attitude. The Koala fits in with the beautiful gardens close by and doesn’t look out of place.
On doing some research into this particular koala, it looks like he started out at Funk Fitness, on the Isle of Capri – designed by Dion Parker. His name is “I Don’t Care if My Bum Looks Big in This’. He was returned to the bush over 4 years ago to his current location at the fudge shop.
Looks like there were two Koala’s located in NSW too – one at Casino, the other at Evans Head. I’m now curious to see if these two are still down here.
“A tribute to the rich history of Mudgeeraba and the unique colonial architecture that give the village its famous heritage character.”
Thanks for the cache
The artist is Don Parker.
Thank you for the cache Petan.
Initially posted him to Reddit and the internet still isn't sure whether to call him Koalio or Mariala.
Thanks for placing this locationless!
This particular koala is located in a locality known as Koala Park. He stands at the corner of the Gold Coast highway and a major 'rat-run' to avoid Burleigh Heads to travel into West Burleigh. If you see him up close you'll see he has been painted with tiny koalas.
Its become obvious that the residents of the area have adopted him. Over Christmas he was dressed very Christmassy, he was decorated with Australian flags for Australia Day, and for the Commonwealth Games he looked somewhat like our Games Shapers (volunteers). This afternoon as I travelled past I happened to notice that he is now ready for ANZAC Day tomorrow, with a camo 'blanket' featuring corporal stripes and rising sun badge. He also has a slouch hat.
This is a very dodgy photo taken through my windscreen while waiting to turn at the lights on the highway.
PS he is still available to be 'found'.
We came across this beautiful Rainbow Lorikeet/Koala sculpture created by artist Scott Maxwell while geocaching nearby. An interesting combination we think.
Thanks for this cache Petan.
When we took a photo of this koala in 2013 we were wondering how we could turn the series into a cache........which shows if you wait long enough someone else does and you're ready with a FTF! Koala Bro painted by Kim Robertson is a strikingly rainbow coloured character and fits in perfectly to it's location of Rainbow Bay.
