Description

Another strangely named cache for the 2016/7 Summer Scavenger Series

You can park at the listed coordinates but there's probably no cache there. This one's certainly not there.

It's fascinating what you come across, or what comes across you, if you just stand quietly still for a few minutes, off-track in the Australian bushland. While waiting for the GPS to get a nice long average for this cache, a small echidna, waddled past and started burrowing into a mound, no doubt sensing the ants within. There were all sorts of ants scurrying about. That's a picture of him (or her?) I took while standing right at GZ. A little later, a male lyrebird with its glorious frilly satin tail scampered by, then raced uphill when it saw me. Earlier, I'd been treated to an aquatic display by myriads of long, silver fish jumping and cavorting in the quiet, sandy shallows of the creek below and later, in the fading light of dusk, little black wallabies bounded through the bush. And of course, there are always the ubiquitous brush turkeys scratching amongst the blossoms.

So take a walk in the bushland and see what you can find.

P.S. Easy access from NNE via trail.

Final day of the summer scavenge game so time to get out and grab some more caches with 14 found in total. Luckily given the heat today they weren't too far from the car. Investigated the direct approach which didn't look promising but the phone map suggested an easier route just down the road a bit, though it still ended up involving a bit of bush bashing at the end. Thanks Baktrak, quickly found once I considered the hint.

I'm quite proud to say I solved this myself...... It was already quite hot and I wasn't enjoying a 100m plus scrub bash to GZ, so after about 10 m I turned around and tried a different approach, I saw a nice little hwy on my topo map, a route that would take me within a 20 or so metres of GZ. Whilst a longer route, this was much easier. Lots of spiders webs, that ended wrapped around my head but no reptilian things. Very cool GZ. I liked this a lot too.

No Echidnas today, I was getting a little concerned about Joe Blakes though. Lots of Golden Orb spider webs about.
Collected as part of a Scavenger hunt run this morning before it became hot.

Out with teamMerlin and Splitty Miller JJCC. TeamMerlin had a job that he neede to collect from Somerville Rd so combining pleasure with that we hand 2 puzzles that we had solved that were nearby. Stopped for this one. Following the GPSr along the trail suggested we came to the cache. We all signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the puzzle Baktrak

On a caching run with phlphotos and JJCC and as we had a pickup along Somerville Road, we continued down to grab a couple of mystery caches we had solved during the Summer series. Approaching from trail as suggested and spotted something on approach - checking the opposite end and we had the cache in hand. After signing we replaced as found and took the more direct route back out. Thanks for the puzzle Baktrak.

Solved a few local GCA mysteries yesterday and came to collect today. This was my 5th stop. Never ventured off road here before and enjoyed the short stroll into the bush. I tried to be very quiet and stopped for a while after signing the log but none of the local wildlife showed itself. Nice hide.

An afternoon collecting 5 GCA puzzles. This one the fourth in line. Cloudy and misty rainy morning but cleared after lunch. The weather heating up but still ok to take the road bike out for a few caches. From the last rode a little further, glad not to have go all the way today, just a little bit of it. Wheeled the bike close to Gz then started searching. Took a little while to locate but pleased to make the find and score another blank logbook. Rehid and carefully retraced my steps. cleated shoes not the best for the bush. Now the long ride back down summerville, glad to have the corner milk bar to stop at and refresh. Thanks Baktrak.
