Description
After you have fed the lorries - how about a ride on the elephant
This is Elephant Rock at Currumbin, the remnants of a wave cut platform formed about 20 million years ago. It been known by other names - Green Rock and Peak Rock. No doubt the local aboriginals had a name for this outcrop of rocks but perhaps that name has been lost in time. Viewed from side, particularly the southern side it looks just like a reclining elephant with its trunk straight out in front of it.
Because its always been a popular spot to climb and take in the view, the council has constructed steps and a fenced platform on top of the highest part of the rock structure. Ironically it looks somewhat like a howdah or a basket used to carry passengers on the back of elephants.
To log this cache please take a photo of your favourite part of the view from the top of the lookout. Be warned that the final set of steps to the top are steep and narrow. If you feel physically unable to complete the climb I will accept a photo from the side showing the incumbent elephant. Best spot for this is from the sand on the southern side. But do try the climb - the view is magnificent!

Back to the main event: the sculptures.
I had planned to drop in here on my way home after checking out the Chiharu Shiota exhibition yesterday but i ran out of time because I didn't leave home till late morning. That meant having to return again today before it finished. I'm glad I did just for seeing a few pieces of art I enjoyed looking at. I'd love to have a smaller version of the boat and birds turning on the post for my tiny potted garden. I'm sure I could whip something similar up if I really wanted to, not. haha.
I have attached the required photo for this virtual - a beautiful flower on a beautiful day. And in case you feel like checking it out, here's a link with my fave sculptures at Swell and a video I pieced together from my fave bits of the QAGOMA exhibit yesterday. photos.app.goo.gl/2gdifvzb7gengvCP8
I ended up wandering in the direction of Palm Beach and targeted a few hides in particular, though I didn't get quite as far north as I expected, having somewhat overestimated my phone battery's mileage!
I believe this is my third visited Elephant Rock after the Victorian relative near Beaconsfield and another at Bushrangers Bay.
Neither of them have stairs though, making this one particularly noteworthy!
I headed up and was pleasantly surprised to see a CoastSnap station installed to monitor the beach landscape, so my picture has been taken in its holder.
Thanks to petan for this virtual!
Thanks to the CO for the Cache,

But the views from the top were spectacular, although a little hazy.
Took a photo both ways.

I always enjoy the views from up here but today a storm had just passed over and the sun was setting so I got a different view from the lookout as the sun painted the western sky.
Our favourite view is looking north. Attached is our photo.
Thanks Petan.
