Description

All geocachers are familiar with ROT13 for coding and decoding hints for caches.

ROT13 is involves using the 26 letters of the alphabet. However it is not the only form of this coding/decoding process - there are a number of variants.

ROT5 uses just the ten digits 0..9.

ROT18 uses thirty six characters, the twenty six letters of the alphabet A..Z plus the ten digits 0..9

Another form uses the ninety four consecutive printable ASCII characters from character 33 ("!") through to character 126 ("~")

Your task is to identify the variant of ROT used in the following coded message, then decode the message to get the coordinates for the cache.

%96 42496 42? 36 7@F?5 2E $@FE9 7@CEJ @?6 568C66D ?:?6 A@:?E D6G6? E9C66 D6G6? >:?FE6D 2?5 t2DE @?6 9F?5C65 2?5 7@CEJ D:I 568C66D 7:7E66? A@:?E K6C@ K6C@ D6G6? >:?FE6D]

The hint is in ROT13 but what is the variant for the coded message above?

You can check your solution with the Coordinate Checker.

A morning detour for a few caches on the way to Burnie ........ and an excuse for coffees at the Berry Patch. This is going to be a great coastal pathway once a few more connections are completed. Thanks for your cache. Unfortunately this was a DNF after sometime searching an ever increasing then decreasing radius of GZ. Thare may be considerable chang in the vegetation here since the last find. Thanks for sending us here though, because there is other business (geobusiness that is) in the vicinity.

A quick find on my way home from an event in Ulverstone. I was not aware of this small reserve until a geocache brought me here. Very Happy

We've returned to this area after being in the general locale earlier today. A nice quick find.
Found with AlbyDangles on day Five of the 'Bust' leg of our "Kempsey or Bust" tour.
Cheers, EPs.

A quick find while in the area and after attempting another cache nearby.

Have solved this a long time ago, and could not believe that as we had been in the area before that we had not come and collect it. Well today was the day. No three find for today on a weekend away after lock down. Thanks 2y's for the cache

This morning whilst hiding some moveables I took the opportunity to have a look for this one after solving it sometime ago.
After arriving at ground zero with use of the hint the cache container was found, the contents were in good condition. TFTC Clan Cerberus

We spent some time nutting out some puzzles a couple of nights ago and decided to spend a couple of days in the Ulverstone region and see what we could find - and hopefully add to the Tasmanian cause for the States Of The Nation summer 2017/18 game. Thanks so much 2y'stassies for your efforts in providing so many great and varied puzzles to solve and then hiding and maintaining such well stocked caches. Awesome effort by you guys and we had a great couple of days.

We headed out for a day of caching with Tassie Trekkers and targeted Ulverstone and surrounds and this was one we found after solving it sometime ago when it was first published so it was nice to finally get to GZ.

We are currently doing a virtual trophy for verbosity, hence the long logs! We are enjoying participating in the States of the Nation games which are currently running from 16 December 2017 until 21 January 2018.

States of the Nation is a real and virtual geocaching scavenger hunt where your home state will compete against other Australian states to find and hide geocaches. Over the 5 week course of the game there will be hundreds of scavenges that you can track down, find and convert into points for your state. Some scavenges will be easy. Some scavenges will be tough. Some scavenges may be impossible. Don't despair. You are not competing just for yourself; you are competing as a state.

There will be a number of scavenges released on a weekly basis but each scavenge will remain until the end of the game. This means even if you decide to join the game part way through, the early scavenges are still available for you to claim. Scavenges will require you to find a geocache, hide a geocache, attend an event or do something else completely different. The game focuses on all aspects of geocaching and so all cache types, sizes, terrain and difficulty will be up for scavenging. TrigPoints, Events, History, Virtual, Webcam, Podcache and Locationless geocaches are all scavengable, so you're not just looking for a box under a bush. Each week there will be a mix of physical, non-physical and locationless geocaches so even if you are not in a geocache rich area, use the locationless component of scavenger series to get out, find something to log and gain points for your state. If you watch the scavenges as they are released you might also spot the 'not so hidden' patterns and plan for future weeks of the series.

Hiding geocaches will also be a large part of the scavenger series, but please remember this is a game of geocaching and geocaches that you hide should be long lasting, be of good quality and you should be proud of what you hide. Please avoid hiding a geocache just for the day so your state can find it before you archive it. Geocaches that exist for a short period of time may result in any claims on that geocache being disqualified. Play creatively, but also play fairly. More geocachers hiding more geocaches makes for more geocaching fun.

Out and about with whitewebbs for a day of caching down the coast. Good weather and company made for a great day of caching.

Many thanks 2y’stassies for publishing this cache for our enjoyment and adding to our geocaching experience. Once at GZ we soon located the large cache. Cache and contents are in excellent condition.

Tassie Trekkers are now a locationless geocache we have published a 'Geocacher cache' - Travelling Trekkers GA10932 - so if you spot us in your area sign our log book and receive a code word to earn yourself a Very Happy We were one of the lucky teams to receive a pathtag from Geocaching Australia for publishing a "Geocacher Cache" - thanks Geocaching Australia.

This one took a while to do but managed to work out the coordinates during the week, then had to wait until the weekend to set out. We had five puzzle caches on our hitlist for the day. Found them all so lots of lovely points for the Christmas in July game and also managed to pass the mark to claim our Creepy Pursuer trophy. On reaching the required location we made an easy find. Thanks for the cache and for encouraging us to try puzzle caches

We followed your suggestions in the hint and the puzzle was quickly solved. The cache, what a whopper!, was located in an area that we have never visited before. Thanks for the cache 2y’stassies.

Catching up with some logs I missed while on a caching trip in the Northwest with GooseandEgg. Sorry I put them off and then lost my fieldnotes.
Thanks for another great cache.

After the event we were keen to head for home but still had a couple of finds to take care of. This was the fist. Again we parked as close as we could and took off on foot. We passed a few muggles enjoying their day, saying a few polite hellos. As we closed in on GZ we found a man lying (sleeping?) on the grass. We tip-toed around quietly so as not to startle him or alert him as to what we were up to. We were able to get out of sight at GZ to log this one, not that it mattered. He didn't move a muscle.
One more near here then we hit the road. TFTC

Mr Beetle spent last night solving some of the new puzzle caches around the Ulverstone area. This one was solved quickly but took a while to locate at GZ. Another good sized container in a spot we had never quite ventured to before. Thanks.
