Description

There's plenty to guard up on Mount Stromlo.....

Have you noticed the fences, boom gates and barriers on your way up to the summit of Mount Stromlo.....?

This cache honours all of the efforts which have gone into protecting some of the infratructure up on the Mount.....!

This mystery cache IS NOT at the posted coordinates.  To find GZ, you will need to answer some questions about, you guessed it, Mount Stromlo.

Mount Stromlo (formerly Mount Strom) is a mountain with an elevation of ABC metres (D,EFG ft)  that is situated in the Weston Creek district of Canberrs, in the ACT. The mountain is most notable as the location of the Mount Stromlo Observatory. The mountain forms part of the catchment area of the Cotter River which in turn is the primary water supply for the city of Canberra.

The cache can then be found at S35 (F-D+G)(A+D).(E+F-D)(B+F-D)E   E149 CG.(F-D)(A-B)(E+F).

Check your coords, then off you go.....

What an amazing way to start my holidays from work. Geo-events, traveling, meeting up with friends and finding many different caches made it fun! Big Grin It’s so nice to finally be able to do all these things… again. The following descriptions are my adventures between the days of 12/11/21 and 16/11/21. Each cache has been logged to the end of my adventures for the day of finding them. If you would like to read my full log, please find it on any cache I found on the 16/11/21.
Day #1: I finished work at 4pm and headed over to Wagga for the only GIFF event in NSW. Apart from the CO, I was the first to arrive at the event. It was great to finally attend a Geocaching after many months without them. All talk Geo was had by all until we were told that dinner was ready. Soon after, the popcorn was ready and the movies were on. Congratulations to all the GIFF finalists and they were all a great watch. Also, Congratulations to BMG for receiving the FTF on the event. Then it was time to head home and get ready to head to Canberra for the next few days. Big Grin
Day #2: I was nearly late to my own event. O’well… It was still fun with the small group of us that turned up. We also discovered many Moveable caches before heading off to today’s main goal. This happened to be finding the ‘A’ part of the GA geo-art series as well as the lone GC caches around the area which I hadn’t found as I pasted by them. I wasn’t alone as AKM came for the walk as well. After finding all but the last two we headed our separate ways as it started raining heavier. Hopefully, it won’t be raining tomorrow so the event goes ahead but well will need to see. Also pizza for dinner tonight. Big Grin
Day #3: Today’s adventures included the CCE down in Booroomba and as many of the nearby caches as possible. I didn’t do the walk to the ‘Booroomba Rocks’ but I am still able to log the event. I then headed off with a large group of others to find the nearby caches. After that, I caught a lift with Kittykatch, Joolay, isopeda and Barb2e and we headed down to the ACT boarder finding the caches along the way many caches were found and a new GCA cache placed (Gudgenby – GA25097). It was great to see some ammo cans out in the wild, even if they were slightly damaged by the fires. As we arrived back in Tharwa we had afternoon tea and headed our separate ways. Another great day and so much more to go.
Day #4: Not many finds today, but definitely quality finds including a 2003 cache. Big Grin They are becoming few and far between and it was great to see this one still alive. Many unique locations that I would never have visited if it wasn’t for geocaching. Most caches I found were somewhere along the drive/walk around Mount Stromlo. I also wandered around the Belconnen Mall to do some Christmas shopping. Another great day but my trip away is coming to an end… as tomorrow is my last day. Sad
TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the caching community enjoyment. Big Grin

Out with Nibletricecakes for a daily gc plus a few gcas. Looking for shots in the Battleship game and a drive up Mount Stromlo fitted the bill perfectly. All containers were found quickly. Many spiders were disrupted. TFTC.

Quick puzzle to pick up while out caching with Smittengranny chasing points for the summer game. Container is broken but still dry. Lovely to get up this way again. There are some fabulous views around.

Another great day out caching with Joolay after more points in the current game. Thanks LuckyL10n for this cache and to Minniek for the trail up Mt Stromlo and SDL for all his scattered around the area. We continued on and found a few trigs then topped the day off with a stash of movables. All logs were signed and cache returned to their hidey holes. DancingClapping

Found 7:22pm with girlfriend. Out in the Stromlo area to find some caches. Had earlier in the day worked this puzzle out and it’s great that GZ is not in the locked up area. Puzzle was fairly simple to complete and locating cache was also very easy.
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks,

When we were preparing for this trip to the ACT we found this puzzle. A little research and we soon had some coordinates which were confirmed by the checker. Early this afternoon, whilst working our way up to Mount Stromlo finding caches in a GCA series, we located this cache. The accurate coordinates and the cache name made the find straightforward. The cache and its contents were in good condition. Thanks Sol de Lune for the puzzle and the cache.

Easy find as I had seen this style of hiding place before. But today it required much stealth as there were several ACTEW workers busy in the nearby waterworks and much passing traffic. TFTC Very Happy

914. Magical Mystery Tour VI and the first being only GCA. Two out of three so far hidden in the same object so that makes it nice and quick.
Seems that somebody wanted coffee while caching - but I hope it wasn't a cacher.

All good with the cache after the deluge overnight.

Found on a very early morning GCA run before going to the movies on a hot summer day. Another very easy puzzle and cache found right before it became really hot in the middle of the day. We had to wait for some riding muggles to pass, but it was all good in the end. TNLNSL. TFTC LL! Clan Cerberus

Last one for the day and one very close to home. Sorted the co-ords ok and took the drive up to check it out. Park in the spot near GZ and soon had the cache in hand. Log signed and time to get out of the heat.

Thanks for another one LL.....

A quick park and grab with Black Bunny before the weather heated up.

Thanks LuckyL10n.

A quick team effort to solve was required on this one this morning before heading out for some errands. After getting the co-ords it was a quick park and grab between passing bikes.

Thanks LuckyL10n.
