Description

The co-ordinates above are correct it's the questions that are suspect

The townspeople of the Hawkesbury district decided to establish a memorial to honour the memory of soldiers from the district that died whilst serving in the Boer War in South Africa during 1899 to 1902.

Monumental mason, George Robertson was appointed to design the obelisk shaped memorial, which was erected in McQuade Park (cnr George & Tebbutt Streets) Windsor. The money was raised by public subscription.

This area of the park was later renamed Memorial Park and now features the War Memorial for World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam close by. Although numerous soldiers enrolled from the district, only 4 soldiers lost their lives and are recorded on the memorial.

Is that welsh? Set out to get some of the GA's in the area, with much help from the CO's. Is that a surprise to anyone?!

#GA2265 - 10:47; When the States of the Nation game began, a plan was hatched for a group of ACT cachers to take a trip north to the Hawkesbury on a scavenger raid. As time passed the group's numbers dwindled, but with a bit of work solving puzzles and a few things rescheduled, our merry band comprising andrewbt, Sol de lune and I set off on a damp Canberra morning to try our hand. A recent visit to Canberra by cachers from this area provided an added incentive, so we could repay the karma points we gained from their visit. A successful day it turned out to be with 56 finds and only three DNFs. This was the next stop after a couple of virtuals and the answers to the tricky questions were soon sorted. abt will be sending answers to the CO. TFTC phlphotos Very HappyClan Cerberus

4th of 55 today with SDL and LuckyL10n! Had done a bit of research before coming here - if only to work out the code!

Pic supplied to prove it wasn't completely case of armchair caching. TFTC PP

Have been sitting on this one for a while and had forgot to send through my answers - with task now completed our found log follows. Thanks again phlphotos for another local mystery cache which puts emphasis on an often forgotten part of Australian history. The Hawkesbury men and women were one of the first to volunteer during this campaign.

I was in town this morning and took photos of the memorial. At home I have sat and down and worked my way through the puzzles which when complete I emailed the CO. I called the CO to discuss some ambiguity with question 4.

The answer was I can log a find!!!! A *FTF* to boot, yeah.
