Description

Visit the Pinnacle Nature Reserve for some lovely walks, views, and quite a number of caches !

The Pinnacle Nature Reserve is a unit of the Canberra Nature Park (CNP). Totalling approximately 138 ha, the Reserve is located on Belconnen's southern boundary, adjacent to the suburbs of Weetangera and Hawker. The Reserve adjoins Springvale Drive and private residences to the north, and unleased and leasehold rural land on its southern and western boundaries. The Reserve is promulgated under the ACT's Territory Plan, and managed by ACT Parks and Conservation Service (PCS).

The "Pinnacle" refers to the highest point of the Reserve, which is 708 m above sea level.

This is a small series showing off some of the Gateways into the Reserve and the start of your caching adventures in this area.

Keen to get out on such a glorious sunny day after all the grey weather of late. But the sun sets early so a more local walk was needed. Had planed to keep this for a nice walk with Wilma and Hoppy but couldn't resist the a the perfect walk for today. Great new loop of caches here and some nice older once TFTC Fitzy!

02-Jul-21
Out with GLISS! For an after walk. The ground is still sodden after the recent rains. Had to dig a little to find this one but it was in the spot I expected. Thanks for the cache.

02-Jul-21
Quite buried but found in the end. Thanks for another battleship shot.

06-Jun-21
After finding a nearby battleship cache we headed to this one. There are some beautiful trees in this area and the one hiding the cache was soon located. It took a little while to extract the cache container. The log was damp but still usable.

Thanks for another cache in your pinnacle gate series Fitzy_1965. There are great views from this spot. The container is very well hidden.

01-Jun-21
It was certainly very well buried when I came past here today, thanks Fitzy!

Found with Kittykatch out and about in the area. Good to pick this one up on our way. Beautiful area to be walking around in.

31-Mar-19
Picked up on the way back out after a lovely walk. Gathered the info for the puzzle and multi too. Thanks for the cache.

I parked nearest to this gate thinking that all the caches I was after today were all very close as it is another extreme heat day in ACT. Ha ha ha! Yes they are relatively close on the map but as the caches included two mystery and one multi, I found myself zig zagging back and forth across my own path all the time. Another good workout and I must admit a successful day cache wise now I just have to log them and see if I can magically find points in this year's summer game. It is the first time I have been involved in a game so rather keen to complete it. Thanks for this series of caches Fitzy - and all so close to home. Very HappySmile

A quick find at GZ on the way back to the car. All good with this one today.

Thanks fitzy_1965.

Out for a walk with Black Bunny before it got to hot today. Got to GZ and better luck here as the cache was soon to hand.

Thanks fitzy_1965.

Went for a walk in the reserve to grab this series. All found OK.

The last in the series before the trek back to the car. Strange that there is a whole coconut sitting on top of the cache!

Thanks

Had to head into work early today, so after staying nearby last night, I stopped on the way to work to collect this one up. I parked near the wrong gate so had a slightly further walk than expected. Found the cache quickly enough, signed log and then headed off for a long day at work. TFTC.

One of several caches (six GA and one GC) found in this area, this chilly, windy day. TFTC fitzy_1965.

934. Out this way while FFP visited friends and decided this sereis needed to be hoovered.

I must say all the co-ords and contaniers were spot on and in good condition (I think that works)

A very pleasant day to be out and grab this one while on the way to 01.

TFTC FITZY_1965 and the duel.

A pleasant sunny afternoon, decided to try some nearby GCA caches. An easy find, thanks.

17-May-17
A lovely reserve to stroll around. However, not to be done at night at the moment since the hunters are culling. TFTC Very Happy

#GA1671 - 16:00; Dropped by to give the multi in this series a try. Gathered the information and decided I didn't have enough time today, so wandered over to grab this one instead. Probably give the multi a try tomorrow. TFTC fitzy_1965 Very HappyClan Cerberus

Headed out before the approaching storm hit...and just made it home in time. The cache may be called Water Tank Views, but I think it wont be long before you just need to be in the general area to see water...

Cache was found without issue and once the log was signed, it was back to the car and I was off. The weather will make caching interesting for the next little while as it probably close my close my nearby road..... Brick Wall

Thanks fitzy....another one done and dusted.
