Description

Visit the Pinnacle Nature Reserve for some lovely walks, views, and quite a number of caches !

The Pinnacle Nature Reserve is a unit of the Canberra Nature Park (CNP). Totalling approximately 138 ha, the Reserve is located on Belconnen's southern boundary, adjacent to the suburbs of Weetangera and Hawker. The Reserve adjoins Springvale Drive and private residences to the north, and unleased and leasehold rural land on its southern and western boundaries. The Reserve is promulgated under the ACT's Territory Plan, and managed by ACT Parks and Conservation Service (PCS).

The "Pinnacle" refers to the highest point of the Reserve, which is 708 m above sea level.

This is a small series showing off some of the Gateways into the Reserve and the start of your caching adventures in this area.

If you are like me and enjoy finding Trigs, then in NSW you get used to finding Trigs on top of water tanks. If only this was the case in the ACT then this would be a prime spot to find a couple. Alas there aren't any so you will just have to make do with a Traditional.

Happy Hunting !

What a beautiful old tree and huge pile of bark under it. It took a few minutes to uncover the objects mentioned in the hint and then the cache container. The container and contents were in good condition.

Thanks for this cache Fitzy_1965. Mrs Y'stassie managed to spook one of the passing horses as she emerged from behind the tree.

With GLISS's new found addiction to GCA research tasks she came out earlier today to grab this cache. Misunderstanding my research tasks, we thought I needed it to. So back we came to grab the cache.. turns out any old cache would do.. ah well. Great to have this little guy in the bag as part of a lovely afternoon of caching. Thanks for the cache.

I've targetted this one today because it is at the right altitude for a research task. I don't understand the purpose of research tasks, but this one has been ticked for this week? month?. Clan Cerberus Now to find 2 trigs. TFTC Fitzy.

Can't count how many times I have driven past this spot without stopping. Today with thunder rolling around I decided to stop and grab this cache in my good clothes after having afternoon tea with work mates from about 20 years ago! An easy walk from my car and a quick find at GZ
Thanks for the cache Fitzy. SL

#GA1743 - 13:20; Out on an errand, so stopped off for a nice quick find and sign on the way past this cache. Not sure about the name, but happy to make the find. I still needed two trips as I didn't have a pen when I first arrived at GZ. All good in the end though and my name is now in the log. TFTC fitzy_1965 Very HappyClan Cerberus

Good to see another set of (GCA) caches in this reserve. Have been here many times over the years, but good to come out to take a bit of another look around. Cache was found without issue and once the log was signed it was back home to get ready for another night at the 'office'.

Thanks fitzy_1965....still a few to go, but they'll have to wait for another day.
