Description

The Grove - Western Ring Path

The Western Ring Path is the continuation of the Western Freeway Path along the Western Ring Road and provide more opportunity for some walking or cycling along a nicely made asphalt path way.
This geocache is a 1 litre Sistema container painted to match the surrounds. Once you spot it you will know it's there but spotting it can be a challenge in itself as the method of hide somewhat camouflages the cache nicely without being actually covered. The retrieval will be a small challenge but some perseverance and some scratches and you will have the geocache in hand.
Parking is available at the service station to grab this cache and some more along this section of the western Ring Path.

After a morning of Lax I decided to grab the treddly and ride home.

Bypassing from Newport and caching thru Sunshine before heading back towards the west.

I bypassed down the Western Ring Road Bike Track for some smileys.

Could have easily missed this without a good pair of eyes.

#GA1908 - 13:58; Day two of a caching mission to Victoria with Sol de lune. Our major goal for the week is to complete the SSS and other series along the Western Freeway/Ring Road and to then collect enough GCA caches around Docklands to bring our total finds for the day to 100+ which would build our trophy cabinets a bit more as we complete a few more 'missions'. This was one of 82 finds in just under 6 hours along the various series, where we only had the one DNF! We had now finished the 'ring path' to the north and after some lunch now headed east again on the home stretch. Apologies for the mostly generic logs. TFTC caughtatwork Very HappyClan Cerberus

After grabbing lunch nearby, it was time for LuckyL10n and I to start the last leg of these caches. A bit of shelter as we headed along this path so the riding was a little easier without the wind in our faces.

All was good with the caches and all were found in good condition.

Thanks for the continuing series C@W.....

This morning my auntie 'cathlud' came to watch me play hockey and then we did some geocaching on our way home.
My auntie let me use her GPS but I needed my aunt's help to find this cache. It was hidden very well.
Thank you for placing this cache.

After picking my niece (PrincessFiona) up from Yarraville we were ready for a few hours of geocaching along the Western Ring Rd Path, on our way home.
We left the car in Plummer Rd and did the next four caches before moving the car.
The princess was not very thorough in her searching and passed over the cache but I took a more systematic approach and the cache was soon located. It was nice to find some more pathtags which we exchanged for a number of trading items.
Thank you caughtatwork for this series. We are enjoying reading the descriptions as we walk along. Very Happy

I caught the train out to Werribee for one of the pre-Mega events, bringing my bike so I could finally ride the Federation Trail that we spent so much time and effort campaigning for in the '90s...

And here I am on the Ring Road at the other end. That sure beat having to brave the heavy traffic... and meant a few more caches along the way. These new ones are an added bonus. Thanks, C@W.

This one stood out due to the, er, fun of retrieving it, and the lovely sized container.

We had arrived in Melbourne early to catch the Spirit of Tasmania back to Tassie tonight. That gave us the opportunity to look for more caches along the Western Ring Path, ones that we didn't find in April because we ran out of time. We were pleased that the rain of yesterday had gone and, apart from a cold breeze, the walking conditions were very pleasant. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks caughtatwork for the cache and the series.

What else do you do while waiting to board the ferry home? Park at a service centre and walk 10 kms getting 21 GCA caches, 13 of which were FTF. We had a lovely walk either side of the Big M. Thanks caughtatwork for placing,(now we get triple dragon zone points), for the great cache containers, good clues and spot on coords. FTF @ 1.10 pm. Clan Minotaur TFTC
